A mother and daughter in India - both acid attack survivors - have been forced to continue living with their attacker and forgive him due to public pressure in India.
Inderjeet Mahour, 60, attacked his wife Geeta Mahour, 40, and his two daughters Neetu, then three, and 18-month-old Krishna, with acid as they slept in Agra, in Uttar Pradesh, northern India, over 23 years ago.
Even though Geeta suffered horrendous injuries, and Neetu, now 26, was left blind, while Krishna tragically died from her injuries, she shockingly managed to forgive her husband. They went on to have another daughter eight years later, and today she still shares his bed and cooks him dinner every night. Geeta said: ‘After I recovered from my injuries I was worried how I’d raise my kids alone so I decided to forgive him and I returned to him. For some years he was nice to me. But eventually he started drinking and gambling again. Even today when he gets drunk he threatens to kill us. But nothing bothers me now. I cry every night for the misery we are forced to live but this is our life.’

Forgiving something like this, is not easy "It was my face that was attacked, not my dreams and courage"..... Its sad, this kind of crime should be heavily punished. In my country a new born baby was born a few hours ago with almost no skin the baby had red eyes that looked inside out and yellowish skin the father ran away and was no where to be seen. And the mother died soon after birth.

Acid attacks are one of the important things that I hope first world feminists truly take a stand against, instead of irrelevant stuff like micro-aggressions that barely inconvenience their privileged lives. THESE are the women who truly need feminism... What can we do to make life better for people who live in cultures like this? I want to know what we can actively do to give better opportunities to potential future victims of this horrible abusive culture they live in. Putting that monster in prison was the least worst thing they can do, yet they choosed to bail him out of prison, enabling him to have his ways unpunished. Whether it was because of societal pressures, or the hope that he can change from his narcissistic ways, that has got to be the worst decision ever made. But then again, if I were put in their places I would probably not have done any better, if not worse than they did. I hope that the mother and daughters would one day be free and independent of this narcissist without worrying about societal judgments, and live a happy and peaceful life that they deserve. And I truly wish that monster of a "father" would reap exactly what he sowed in all his lifetimes.

Yea, I feel the same anger. But what happens here is that the entire society abandons these victims, augmenting their trauma. They don't get employed (even if their health permits) so they don't have the financial independence to leave the husband. Next, if she's able to leave him, the society tortures her for that as it considers that as a bigger sin than what her husband did. So such women get trapped from every side. This is why we need an equal society rather than a patriarchal society.

I dont know what to say, whether to like this video for the strength of these of women, or dislike it, for I see the man living comfortably after what he did. That too in the same perimeter as them. who allowed this evil of a man to return, okay he, repentened, Will his repentance take away what's on their faces? Or a loss of a life, or months of sufferings, or years of looking in the mirror, without undoing the thought of hatred that prevails in the world, to push someone to this, or so many thoughts as to, anyone can get away with their fun adventures, that cost others their life.
