In order to remove emulsified oil content in effluent, it is primarily required to convert them to free-floating oil to ease the separation process. An acid cracker is a unit, where effluent will be dosed with acid (either H2SO4 or HCL) which converts emulsified oil into free-floating oil. The effluent then overflows to Pre-separator unit where floating oil will be removed with the help of surface skimmer. Treated water will be neutralized with alkali in Neutralizer unit in order to bring back the pH value. Depending on the outlet guarantees and inlet load, effluent will be further subjected to coagulation, Flocculation and treated in the DAF unit.
Both acid cracker and neutralizer units will be provided with aeration grids and air needs to be supplied through blowers. Acid cracker, pre-separator and neutralizer units are open to an atmosphere where the area will be provided in terms of length and breadth
