This song always felt like a metaphor for a bad trip to me. You're tripping and there's nothing you can do but travel down the road untill you drop that load off. When you're tripping you have no where else to go.

Religion is a far broader concept than just Christianity, as you seem to believe. It, like politics and business is a venue that greedy sociopathic individuals can get behind to exploit people. But whether you're religious or not, everyone worships something. Money, power, beauty. The predominant reason for choosing a god/s or spiritual set of principles is that choosing any of the aforementioned items has a high propensity to corrupt and harm you in worse ways than tapping inspiration skyward.

To explain why I follow that belief I'll put it this way: All interpretations of Heaven seem nothing but pure chaos to me. What is the point of existing if you have no needs/can have anything you want instantly. There is no purpose or challenge to overcome in such existence. It only can bring stagnation and insanity. I believe that our world was created by Satan(Samael, Odin, etc.) to save us from ourselves and to give us a path to follow, to bring meaning to existence, so that we can learn.
Actually, satanism in it's philosophy is against materialism and any form of consumerism. And there is theistic satanism as well, with many different cults and ramifications

@TheMusicThrasher Yeah, well doom metal is NOT black metal or death metal. Some doom bands sing about satan, but not in the same way black or death metal bands do. It's more like the FEELING when you sing about something evil, something that makes you dispair or panic in a way, you know... and not like "ohhhh, yeaaaahhh.... I'm fucking eviiiilllll" like most of the black/death metal bands sing. That's why I love Doom Metal... I'm more into experimenting with deep and dark feelings.
Judging by interviews with LaVeyan Satanists, the don't even listen to metal. And I like to think that Crowley would appreciate it as a part of the bringings of the new aeon.
Ozzy-Dreamer in that song... pretty much says "you can have your God and or Jesus but we are killing this planet and without this planet there is no hope for our survival". Its funny because the ones actually killing this planet "job wise" goes to church to thank god for what we have.

Besides arguing about religion is stupid, there is no end to it. I know a few religious people that say scientists are stupid, retarted and evil. If it wasn't for those scientists they wouldn't be live the life they are, we wouldn't be having this conversation and we wouldn't be listening to this kick ass song, which is the ONLY reason why i'm on this page. When you look at the list of gods created by man, you'll notice there are thousands of them, and they all disagree on what I should do with my life. Should I keep the Old Commandments? Should I die in battle for Odin? Do I need to sacrifice to Zeus? Do I need to be one with the universe? Is my mana high enough for the Polynesian gods to respect me? Should I get a shaman to speak to the spirits? Every single one claims universal truth without proof- looks to me like they're all full of shit.
Satanists are just rebellious catholics, scared of Christianity. I like this music, but why don't you go Pagan? Don't waste time on God (or Gods for that matter), deal with life and Nature, its much more relevant and interesting...
