When baking powder is heated or mixed in water, the following reaction takes place - NaHCO + H → CO₂ + H₂O + Sodium salt of acid (From any aelell Carbon dioxide produced during the reaction can cause bread or cake to rise making them soft and spongy. (ii) Sodium hydrogencarbonate is also an ingredient in antacids. Being alkaline, it neutralises excess acid in the stomach and provides relief. (ii) It is also used in soda-acid fire extinguishers.
The name plaster of Paris was given to the compound because for the first time, it was made from gypsum (CaSO4 . 2 H2O) which was mainly found in Paris ☺💙

Plaster of Paris stands for calcium sulphate hemihydrate, which is obtained by heating the mineral, gyspum. There is a specific reason behind it's naming. In 1666AD,a great fire ravaged London, reducing its wooden buildings to ashes. Then the King of France, in order to prevent such catastrophe in his own country, ordered houses to be constructed of plaster. Paris then had rich deposits of gyspum, which was heated in large quantities to manufacture plaster and make it strong enough to withstand weight of massive buildings and hence the name, ‘Plaster of Paris ’.

POP is known as plaster of Paris because Plaster is the common name for calcium sulphate hemi hydrate(CaSO4 . 1/2H2O) made by heating the mineral gypsum, the common name for sulphate of lime. Plaster was first made about 9000 years ago, and has been used by ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman civilizations. However, it wasn't used on a large scale until 1700s, when it was required to be used in all construction in Paris. In 1666, a fire raged across London, destroying many parts of it. In its aftermath, the king of France ordered that all walls made of wood in Paris be immediately covered with plaster, as a protection against such fires. This resulted in large-scale mining of gypsum which was available around Paris in huge quantities. Thus, during the early 18th century, Paris became the centre of plaster production, and hence the name, plaster of Paris. Thank me later❤😂 Bohot mehnat lagi😢😢😅

what is hydronium ion? Hydronium ion is a water molecule with an extra hydrogen ion attached to it. ( H2O + H+→ H3O+). It usually used to determine the acidity of a chemical compound. When a compound is put into water solution, the more the hydronium ion is produced

1:28:51 Why is a pop called plaster of Paris ? why not India? Ans Plaster of Paris is named after the gypsum deposits found in Montmartre, Paris. It's not named after India because it wasn't originally discovered or widely used there. The name stuck due to its association with the region where it was first extensively used. Hope my answer is right.

1:28:55 The name Plaster of Paris (POP) had its origins from the fact that it was extensively mined from Montmartre in Paris district. But its use predates the industrial revolution, they have been found on the insides of pyramids.
