@@tabassumjogimaddi1521 yes I underwent surgery soon after finding out I completely tore my ACL and partially tore my meniscus. I would recommend you talk to your physician about whether or not you need surgery. Depending on your lifestyle sometimes it is unnecessary. Post surgery I PT’ed and regained full functional strength of my leg. I am able to continue to do a lot of the things that I love.
Just got this surgery yesterday and it’s a lot more chill than I was expecting. The pain rn is less than when I actually tore my ACL. For anyone worried, about to go through this, it’s gonna be a lot better than u expect.
Surgery has always fascinated me. The fact that you can cut someone open. Fix their insides and stitch them back together and still be alive is amazing.
Medical science is an absolute WONDER. This is SO cool and so amazing, and I genuinely hope it gives new hope to people who need this kind of repair done to a damaged ACL. I had heard that we could fix these ACL tears now, but I didn't know they actually learned how to make your body grow a NEW one. That's WILD! I'm literally mind blown. Good luck to anyone suffering with this, looks like you're in good hands!
@@brownie3454not enough flack. People are taught so little of what happened in Asia during WW2 so much so that people like you delegate forced human experiments, rape, and cultural erasure as “stuff”. Hey, the Germans committed one of the most destructive genocides in recent memory but without them we wouldn’t have advanced aerospace engineering or BMWs. What a stupid conflation
@@rishavdhariwal4782 it's gonna be up to you if you want to rehab your knee into a strong one again. Also, responsibility to keep yourself from doing anything rash that will injure the knee
@@rishavdhariwal4782 you're gonna lose the thigh muscle depending on how it goes so it's going to be very weak. But you'll be fine. Rehabilitation is tough but not an impossible thing to do. If you been going to the gym, you'll indeed apply less stress on the leg after surgery so nice head start
Just completed the surgery two days ago,it wasn't that painful as I expected, hoping to get in prior lifestyle as soon as possible, those who are suffering from the same problem, may Allah help you all to recover from it soon❤
Good luck dude, learn from my mistakes and keep going with the rehab exercises! they help a shit ton and minimize the cartilage build up so you don't get all that clicking when you bend. I never did the exercises and I am paying for it every day
Had an ACL reconstruction and partial meniscectomy 3 weeks ago. The first few days are the hardest (physically and mentally) but it gets better with time. Slowly getting ROM and strength through physio. We got this 💪
Kyle Trimble kinda, they think I tor mine in soccer so I'm getting my results back on tuesdayyyyy (don't worry I'm not a creepy stalker grown up answering your question I'm 11)

Im 19 years old and for the first ever the captain of my football team, i play near the proffesional level so i really wanted to impress this year, i trained almost everyday of this summer vacation and went a lot to the gym. And in my 2nd pre season match i tore my acl… in other words my season is over and im not sure i will ever get to this level again. Im really devistated and so sad right now, i might never get this chance again. Life can be cruel
Same bro, I remember training with the boys for rugby, at the time I was told that I was going to be the captain, however after my injury, I've never been the same.
@@Amaljithjr after 4 months of the incident i took surgery, and with succes. I can play football again but unfortunaly not at the same level as i used to. Didnt expect the revalidation to be that mental but it was. but in the end for the better cause it really helped me understand and appreciate a lot things and made me grow as an individual. Now im playing lower division in a team with my friends and my all round life is the best it ever has been. Maybe just maybe i shouldve gotten injured haha. If youre going trough surgery or revalidation right now i wish you all best cause things will get better, trust me
Writing this after 5 months of ACL surgery in my left leg.Had much pain during first 2 weeks and was able to walk without scrutches. Now i have started jogging, walking, going to gym as well ! Almost recovered fully.Don't hesitate to undergo this surgery and it's really worth.surgery is just like 20% of recovery and rest is physiotherapy 😊
i got surgery 6 days ago (october 20th, 2020). I had broken it on november 2019, so in the middle i trained hard. I had strong and flexible legs and body just before surgery. After it happened, I almost had no pain, good mobility, and so far I keep strong enough. Actually the day after surgery I started some exercises. Im sharing my experience because it is not always painful or terrible. It depends on each person. So live your experience and try to not compare yourself with others. Positive mind and patience.
@@tabassumjogimaddi1521 after a good physiotherapy recovery , the issue is solved. Normal life. If you are an athlet it is always recommended to do preventing exercises (even u got injured or not)
@@tabassumjogimaddi1521 it is very personal. It depends on how you feel.. make sure it is partial. Ask to more than 1 professional. If it is broken or a big partial tear, sooner or later it has negative impact on your knee (other ligaments, muscles, bones) because the structure of ur leg is being forced to cover the lack of the ligament function. Just my opinion, and im not a doctor, if it is partial and u are not playing sports o running.. maybe it is not necesary
2 years ago a glass door broke in and went through my knee. After 2 surgeries my ACL broke again and i have to go through another surgery. Hope this time it goes well because I don’t know what my life would be without any kind of sport 🥺
Had mine done in 94 used both patellar and hamstring for the graft. Rehabbed the hell out of it as I was a serious athlete and 28 years later i have had zero issues. MY carpenter did an outstanding job.
I have torn my acl, pcl and damaged my meniscus over the course of 4 years, consider yourself lucky if you didn't get someting else along with an ACL tear...
Going through my second acl surgery. I had my first one 10 years ago.. The recovery was great, was back in active sport in less than 6 months.. Stay positive and active..
Great video! My daughter during the last trainnig of the season and before final match ruptured her ACL and torn meniscus. Disaster, she was divasteted!!! Tomorrow 4wks since she had a surgery, the pain she had to go through was unbelivable. Wish a quick recovery to everyone who is so unlucky to have this kind an injury.
Hoping for a quick and easy recover. I’m 8 weeks post surgery for my acl and it does get much much better. It’s relieving but also scary when you start doing strength exercises. Best wishes
Aron Granillo just found out today that my ACL is completely ruptured (fully torn), scared for surgery as well fellas. Just know you guys aren't alone.
Boys no need to be scared I just got my surgery this morning! The pain is awful when you wake up from surgery but don't worry drugs will be your best friend lol
This must be the new way, cause I had my knee cap tendon harvested as the ACL replacement, and I had 4 screws drilled in to hold it in place. Then they stapled my meniscus. And man, 25 years later it feels like surgery was done yesterday on some days. Still don't have full range of motion, can't straighten my leg completely and yes I went to PT religiously.
Just had this done today. Fun facts: hamstring graft creates an ACL around 4x stronger than a natural ACL once it's fully recovered, with only losing a maximum of 5% of hamstring strength (not a big deal, imagine curling 100 lbs with one and 95 with the other). Cadaver tissue usually isn't too good because it's not living and it's usually of older people who have more "mileage" on their ACL which makes it more fragile. Patellar tendon grafts are strong, but not as strong as hamstring.
I just had the surgery yesterday morning (21 hours ago) and the nerve block is finally wearing off but to those who are worried about having this, the pain is not as bad as you think it will be.
@@adilcool292 Fully unconscious and put under anesthesia but they also did a nerve block at the hip that numbed the leg and that lasted about 24 hours after the surgery.
The most important football week of my life was about to happen: Trials for a top football team, training with senior team, and then go to play in a tournament with top class scouts. Yesterday I was trialing for the club, 30 minutes later I tore my ACL... This would be the worst experience I ever had physically and emotionally. If anyone else is going through the same, Chin up champ You’ll come back stronger 💪
Abasali had my second ACL operation done two days ago. I kinda have the same situation as u but with soccer...It’s gonna be really hard at times but if we work hard in PT we got this
Just did this 2 weeks ago during Gymnastics training. I was gonna have a comeback after 5 years and compete in the nationals one last time. However I got a bad landing on a backflip with triple twist. I'm pissed at myself and hate myself now. I could have avoided it, I've landed the trick before, but I pushed things too far. I was arrogant and underestimated the move. Now I feel like I don't even deserve to come back after that. But I will, only because I'm too pissed about what happened and the thought of leaving after that pisses me off even more.
Had surgery a few months ago. Frustrating experience to say the least. Biggest fear I'm sure others have had is the confidence to play competitive sports again. I'm 32 and have played a lot. I'm thinking of just quitting sports like football and basketball and just staying active in safer ways (swimming, softball, running, gym) My biggest fear is tearing it again and having to go through this again.
Thank you so much, i'm confident enough now. I got my acl surgery done 2days back and i'm a bit confident now. I'm trying to walk with a little support..and the pain is minimal now. Hope i'll recover soon..
Just had a complete ACL reconstruction 2 days ago, and once the nerve blocks wear off, that's when you feel the actual pain. My ACL was completely torn, and was just hanging off. I had partial tear to it 3 months ago, and had it repaired. 2 weeks ago, I was walking with the crutches, and brace when it popped, quite loud, and I had some pain immediately. I didn't know what just happened, and after few hours, I was kind of ok to carry on. Two days later, same thing happened again, only this time I was in much more pain. I will be spending the next 16 weeks in a brace. Wishing everyone else a speedy recovery, God bless you all! :)
I had this surgery back in 2003. Seventeen years later it's still doing well. I remember I strengthened my leg like crazy prior to surgery (I had 2 months until my surgery). Those 4 incisions turned my leg to mush. The entire back of my leg was the color of plumb when the took the wraps off 3 days later! If you get the surgery, then be sure to take the physical therapy seriously. I am not gonna lie...it hurts when they bend your knee to break up that scar tissue! However, if you want full range of motion, then it needs to happen. The strengthening exercises aren't painful. Just that leg bend thing! When I was in PT there was a college basketball player at the same. She cried in pain every time they pushed her heel towards her back side and I almost cried right along with her. It was the community of pain and thankfully...full recovery!
@@sorayanorman7683 for me... Yes. The original injury hurt and felt really weird, but after I iced it just ended up being sore ache very slightly swollen. Mine was a non-contact injury like many ACL tears.
This video is 12 years old so apparently the major updates are hamstring graft is out, quadricep graft is now preferred, and Lateral Extraarticular Tenodesis is now often used in conjunction with quadricep ACLR for additional support. In other words, be glad you messed up your knee now instead of 20 years ago lol
Masi sagigi I know, Unfortunately I tore my acl and meniscus the pain is horrible I was like cut my leg off it was that bad. It’s a bad pain and leave u in so much fear. I had surgery twice for it however I’m feeling like ima tear them again if I didn’t already it hurts now. Please pray for me.
Gosh I'm 16 and I play basketball really hard like my first step is crazy explosive but as time goes by my knees are a lil sore so with my archilles I'm also really scared of injuries arhhhh because I love basketball so much and I can't believe living without it
Almost a month into my rehab. It’s painful doing the physical therapy but if you do it correctly and religiously you will achieve fast results! Just have to stay positive and think trust the process. Just with a few days of cracking down and not baby my knee I’m feeling strength and range of motion coming back.
Almost a month post-surgery i can walk, my walk is still limp from time to time, but i can fully extend and almost fully bend my knee. I think i can feel the screws in my knee a bit and it is irritating sometimes but i am also training on my own aswell as going to physio and it shows great improvement
I''ve had two ACL surgeries one in 2011 & two weeks ago. Your worst pain is the first day. Excerise, icing, & physical therapy are the top three things to get back to your old self or even better. My surgeons were great & I'm back playing basketball. Good luck to you all (:
Kenya Perry Hi Kenya, I’m going through the rehab process now from my knee surgery and Have been found myself in the depths of the RU-vid rabbit hole lol. Anyway I Saw your comment in an old acl reconstruction video and just wanted to tell you that you have a gorgeous warm smile. Hopefully your knees are at still going strong.
A year and a half ago, was en route to a gas leakage call. My firehouse was despatched. Fully torned my ACL as well as meniscus due to the heavy weight of the bunker gear, BA cylinder and rescue tools. Knee snapped. Ran awkwardly to the scene. Told my commander that my leg felt like breaking. Came back to my firehouse, received medical attention to my swollen knee by medics and emt, went hospital the next day after shift ends, xray but unable to show what happened. MRI scanned and it shows clearly how badly my injury was... Recovered within 6 months after surgery, able to run(jog, sprint eventhough it will put on some pain), crawl(though it will hurt my surgical scar) squat, play sports and pretty much everything. Though the pain is on/off till this day. But till today, i tried taking extra precaution. Cause i know i wont be a good thing if it happen again.. TAKE CARE PEOPLE!
As an avid sports and wrestling fan, I've always wondered why an ACL tear is a season ending injury. Now I know why and why it hurts so much! Very easy to follow and understand video that is highly educational
3 and half years ago I had my knee done with this metode of ACL surgery...after recovery, my knee was perfect, also had meniscuses done, never had a pain after that. But a lot of work in the gym then. Anyone who is hesitant to undergo, it's worth it!!!
@@suhailchovvayil5553 first, you need to find your physical therapist and start all over again bettering the range of motion in a right way. flexion and extension of the knee must be perfect, then stretching the soft tissue. In order to have good recovery , you MUST follow the plan of physical therapist and don't exagerate even if you feel well with it. The implanted tissue of ACL is long to recover itself in the tibia bone and all of those bio/titan components. Then you strenghten your knees along with ankles and hips and deep stabilization muscles with the body weight and correctly. and after that (it can be 4 or 5 months, or more, that's individual) you can start lifting something, but slowly and smart. Always be in touch with your PT and follow the rules and plan. Because the surgery can be perfectly done, but if you don't follow the plan and rehabilitation, then it's useless. Good luck
@@vamsisrikanthrallabandi7015 right now after probably 6 years, no. No arthritis, or any inflamation, maybe one thing but that is specific, not-related to ACL and developed after is in my case mediopatellar plica.
I am officially one year post op from this surgery! (My one year video is on my channel) but I am SO HAPPY I went through this surgery!!!! I tore it two years ago doing flips, and had surgery one year ago. I am now back to doing flips again (which I haven't been able to do since I've torn it) and i am soooooo happy. This is definitely worth doing. It is hard at first, but over time once everything heals, you can continue life as though "nothing" happened. Or at least that's what I'm able to do.
It can heal if there's a partial tear of 50% or less of the ligament. Because if you tear it too much there's not enough blood supply going to the ligament for cell regeneration. This is why ligaments take a very long time to heal.
@@erikap311 completely fine! Was walking 10 days post op and was completely fine after 6 months. It's been over 4 years now and do everything and more than I used to do. Same ROM, just a little less strength in the hamstring as that is where the graft was from. If you have any more questions feel free to ask 👍
duncantee Hey thanks so much for responding. I’m a professional bodybuilder and am getting my surgery in September. How many weeks did it take for you to get back into sports?
@@BigNes445 that's really great .. in partial tear no ortho ll recommend surgery.. after 2 months of rest n therapy still pain is same .. no one ll understand what you are going through...
Am I the only one who ripped their ACL in such a stupid way as ... getting off the bike?🤡 Three doctors and three physical therapists said I didn't need surgery because the knee was stable. One did a longer exam in which the knee gave up without resistance, but did so in an odd leg alignment, so the doctor ignored it. Two years have passed and I went on vacation. I tried to pivot to take a picture while on a trekking trail, and my leg collapsed. I didn't have ACL, now I have damage to PCL, LCL and the tendons holding the kneecap in place. It was the first day my travel insurance was applicable, so "yay" for me! I'm scared and angry at the doctors who told me I didn't need surgery two years ago.🤬
Dont worry, you’re not alone! I tore my ACL falling down the stairs while daydreaming in April. Got surgery in June. And so far, other than a small trip and fall, recovery has been smooth sailing so far :) Also I’m so sorry the doctors treated you like shit. No one deserves to be treated like that. And by the people who are supposed to help you, no less.
I'm currently on the wait list for this operation. I have torn of my frontal acl and a small portion of my miniscus. Also there is a part of my bone (0.5cmx1.2cm) chilling loosely in my knee. I got this while practicing jiu jitsu... I can say with confidence that sports aren't always healthy... I really hope that I recover fast and that i can get back to my full time college since my law degree won't wait..
Update: it's hurts.. Currently in rehabilitation from the surgery. First few days were brutal but I'm making progress 3 weeks after now. Unfortunately I can't walk normally so I can't go to work or university so I'm still at home.
Absolutely amazing! I read somewhere that the biceps femoris tendon is actually stronger than the ACL. I don't think they simply insert the tendon into position either; I could be wrong, but I believe it gets twisted, in order to further increase the strength. It shows when you see these football players return, and look as if they were never injured in the first place. This WAS a career-ender probably as recently as the '80s or '90s! Edit: depending on which tendon is grafted, the tendon isn't twisted, it's folded to increase strength.
Had it done 4 weeks ago, I can now walk about 500m without any help!! Your physical therapy is very important!! Hope you all recover fast after this operation.
I got this injury. Doctor recommend me exercise for knee ligament problem. I am only fifteen. Please pray for me. I was afraid to do surgery. Please give me some advices if you know about this. ☺
