Wow, I hope deaf communities can access this probation and parole programs to provided for the ASL interpreter what they need. Everything is going well with that support for deaf people to fight their rights to do what they required. Good luck 👍🏻

Brandon Cobb, ask for the interpreter at the office to have the interpreter card with phone number in case, leave it in wallet or your sister too then tell the officer you can wait til the interpreter shows up but it's not easy as how long to wait for the interpreter comes, not last minute...I have the small card in my wallet & long green envelope for the car ready, it's the State law... Brandon, don't worry of low, be happy, be brave 🙏🤗👏

I, Laura McBride, knew there would be a serious communication problem between the deaf and hearing worlds since i was 14 years of age. I set out to figure out how we can communicate and work togetther to be able to live and love well. I went to US Dept of Justice at Syracuse, NY 2006 to present my case of ADA communication accessibility violations. It's 2024! ADA paased 1990. I am still waiting to be heard. Us dept of Justice wants me to give up and go away! I refuse to give cuz i care about the people.

I have experience long ago. Right now many of states had sex offender law to register some every 3 months some 6 months some annual. That sex offender felt like parole forever. Not easy to keep up understand everytime update registers to accessible everytime. I just sick of it. Unconditional

We the deaf people really want to have good accommodations and provide ASL interpreter, VRI (videophone relay interpreter) to make sure that we can understand better. The agency in GA is completely wrong for not providing ASL interpreters for deaf inmates regarding the probation/parole. Not providing ASL interpreter would make deaf people becoming frustration. Hope the agency has to do their job patiently to do better accommodations for deaf people..

I remember, I was parole and every Wednesday and Friday attended to the parole without interpreter. PO wants to use text messages for the communication or writing note. I was very frustrated with them. A year later, I got a new girlfriend. She is hearing. I told her about parole officers didn’t provide for an interpreter so she became angry and called them. It’s against the law by ADA. Parole gave me reduced attended office once a month for 2 years. I was very happy because it was over the case in 2020. Never again! Stay away trouble!

congrats for a step made and unfortunately this is mostly about interpreting and communication, not about deaf centered supervision department with deaf counselors, deaf probation officers, bottom line here is creating salary position opportunities for the deaf to help deaf without depending on interpreter mainly then when the interpreter goes home, and leave the deaf person alone in heavy English spoken environment until next appointment and next next just for an hour or two at the most per appointment.

That is true because I already experienced before about Sheriff and court won't provide for my right to get interupter but they won't when I was in jail that time was in 2000 at leehigh acres, Fla. Why I was in jail? Because Sherrif think I am mentally insane huh? Cause They can't communicate with me bc of I just deaf man oh pls! They are commerication battery me and try to shoot me but I was defence self so I hit Sherrif 's chest so I never forget about that in 2000 that was 24 years ago. I am not happy about them at all how court or Sherrif are! They are cruel and commerication battery for deaf communicate necessarily understand as well.
