This method is going to show you how you can get rid of any villager living on your island. There are many guides out there that use time travel to kick out villagers, but I found a way to kick out that unwanted villager without using time travel!

Some of you brought to my attention that if the villager is inside when you talk to them, and then later (in the same day) goes outside, they could have the thought bubble! I have yet to test this but I just wanted to keep you all in the loop that there may be a possibility that a thought bubble occurs later on in the day after you've already spoken to them. I will test this out for all of you to make sure it's 100% accurate! So I suggest saving if you see that villager outside later on with a thought bubble before you talk to them to figure out if the thought bubble is a moving out bubble or just some random item gift. That way, if they're asking to move you can just quickly close the game and re-enter so you do not disturb the process. Like I said, I haven't tested this myself but if this is happening I want to make sure you don't mess up the method and get stuck waiting an additional 15 days for another moving out thought bubble. Wait- one thing I don’t understand is if the villager you don’t want has a thought bubble and you talk to them, isn’t there an option to say no? Will they still move out?

I heard if a villager has a thought bubble and hasn't been to talked to on the current day yet, it means they want to move out.

try not to talk to that villager at all! if they run up to you to talk don’t interact. even hitting the villager with a net or pushing them counts as an interaction once they get mad. do always try to not talk to them what so ever, even if you think you might get a reaction you can always get your dreamie who is the same type and get the reactions from them! so don’t worry :)

Maybe this is a dumb question, but how do I know that the thought bubble means they want to move out? My villagers have thought bubbles all the time and then they just give me stuff or ask me to buy something, things like that. Do I just track the amount of time since the last time it happened? Or does the thought bubble look different or do they say something different?

Thought bubble for moving occurs when you open up the game for the first time that day and you haven't talked to the villager yet :)

@@rachelhamasova7745 Let me rephrase: It wouldn't necessarily have to be the second you open your game, but it would be before you talk to that specific villager for the day.

@Marybelle Mercado White So if your unsure, ask the villager, if they begin to say anything to indicate leaving you can force close the game, 9 times out of 10 you will not get an auto save at that moment so going back in they should still have the bubble and you can proceed with this guide.

great info! to add to this, i think the 15 day limit only applies to when a villager last ASKED to move out, if you kick a villager out via campsite it doesn't seem to count. I had a villager move out via campsite, then 2 days later another villager was asking to leave.

honestly time traveling makes me feel bad. i dont know why but whenever i skip a month or something, my villagers are like “omg i missed u where did u go :( im glad ur back!” but time traveling is also my life line so... >:D

Queeeeen! I can tell that it does work! It does! But there's no thought bubble on Saturdays as well and if any of your villagers is on his birthday, nobody is going to leave.

A thought bubble doesn't always means the villager wants to move. I had some villagers with the thought bubble and they just wanted to give me stuff, sell me stuff, change my nickname, etc...

There’s actually a way to spot the difference! If a villager that you’ve talked to a beforehand with a thought bubble, it means that they just wanna give you some pants or something. If you find a villager that you havent talked to yet with a thought bubble it means they wanna move out.

@lavender clouds I’m getting my copy on Tuesday. It was a literal hunt since my switch only has 3.something gb left, so I had to get a physical copy, and there were only third party sellers on amazon. Finally got it on Best Buy though

Patience is definitely key lol. I tried this method and Roald had the thought bubble for a good 4 days. I gave in and talked to him cause I didn’t want him to leave. I figured that was it and id have to wait another 15 days or so, but luckily it appeared on a different villager I didn’t care for a couple days later!

Thank you so much for your comment! I actually did the same thing and ended up talking to Kevin, who continuously asked to leave, and whom I did not want to, and was worried I would have to wait another 15 days! Now I know that I will not have to wait much longer and will be patient!

ok ok!! im not sure if its just luck, but i got one of my villagers to move out first try! so what i did was ... i talked to him. i talked and talked and would not shut up. once he got the scribble over his head and told me not to talk to him, id go about my day as usual until i ran into him again. then id talk some more. repeat process until the end of the day. the very next day, he asked to move!

To be honest, i am 100% sure that the thought bubble is generated randomly to a villager, no matter how close you are to them. I was with Canberra at the beginning of my game and there still in my village, i gift them everyday and talk to them everyday,i even have there picture. The thing is, when somebody has a thought bubble its usually Canberra, even though there my bff in the game. So, that's why im 100% accure its randomly picked. I am also close with Olive and Rex, but they also usually get the thought bubbles. Before you say it might be the people your close to, there are some videos out there that have proof it's not just only the people your close to.

You will always get opportunities to get rid of villagers. You just have to be patient and wait for the opportunity. But many are so anxious to have the "perfect" island with only the perfect and rarest villagers...they're not willing to wait the few days for a camper or a couple weeks to boot someone out. Just...wait.

Also, the villager that I wanted to leave had a thought bubble, I ignored her, and later she had her net out with no thought bubble. I talked to her because I was confused and she showed no sign of moving. Later I opened Animal Crossing again and she wanted to leave again. I don’t know why this happened but I guess it was okay that I talked to her when she had the net out? Maybe? 😬

If you know your wanting to leave thought bubble is still active and you’re just waiting for it DO NOT ignore the HEY! Prompt from any of your villagers. TALK TO THEM. Let them say whatever they need to then immediately save and close the game, then load back into the game ON THE SAME DAY and there should be someone with a thought bubble wanting to leave (if there isn’t you don’t have a moving out bubble active)

If you want to talk to a villager who wants to move out just whap then with a net. Whapping them with a net can also allow multiple villagers a day to have the thought bubble. Hope this helps someone! Been trying to kick out violet for a month now.

It took me 18-20 days until the villager moved out. Best thing you can do is ignoring and hitting with a net :) patiente is the key

Thank you for this video! So just to clarify, who wants to move is completely random and it has nothing to do with them actually wanting to move? I've had some villagers I really love ask to move even though I talked to them a lot and gave them gifts, so I just want to make sure. ;; Also, if a villager asks to move but you tell them to stay, will that mean you have to wait another 15 days for another villager to get the thought bubble, or will more villagers keep getting the thought bubble every other day until someone actually moves out?

Yes, it's absolutely random! And for your 2nd question, yes you have to ignore the person wanting to leave, DO NOT finish the conversation when they ask to leave or it will reset the 15 days. If you initiate the convo to make sure they are actually thinking of leaving, soft reset, and continue playing as usual while ignoring the villager who wants to leave. It's worked for me so far!

Move-out bubbles can also happen at random too. I've had Judy with that bubble for a while and after a few hours later, Cookie was asking to move out after others had a bubble to give me gifts. I've been trying to kick out Pinky for a while. The move-out bubbles are always transfered to everyone else BUT the one! Pinky was my starter peppy and I adore her, but it's usually her that gets into fights with other villagers and it's getting to the point where I wanted her to leave.. I also have too many peppy villagers, causing lost items to be a hassle.

A bubble does not always mean they whant to leave. If they have a bubble they also can give you something or ask to collect something for them.

One thing I discovered about this patience method is that if a villager asks to leave like this, naturally, don't have another villager move in or out via amiibo! This somehow voids the move out of the original villager. Made that mistake asdfg, might have to resort to time travel now, don't want to wait another 15 days.

Like your video. I am not a time traveler and do not want to. In any case, I thought I’d bring this to your attention since it happened to me about an hour ago. I went to talk to one of my villagers (Ken) , he is not the one I want to leave. When I went to speak to him, he had NO 💭. Then he asked me if he should leave the island. I found this strange. I told him no and moved on. Just thought you’d like to be aware of such circumstances. Cheers!

Aw man, recently Bones (a villager I really love) had a bubble but I talked to him and convinced him to stay. Guess I have some more waiting to do... I’ve been trying SO hard to get Angus out, so thanks for this guide!

to get a specific villager to leave (works for me most of the time) talk to them before you TT 15 days. talk to them on the date you TT to. go back to original date. sometimes they'll get the bubble, if not, go back again to the 15 days or one day after and they will! usually works for me :) (may take a while? but works! you should try it out for research, Silky!)

So check this out. I watched your video a few hours ago, after I had played for a little bit, talked to my islanders/gave them their daily gifts and all that, and I was like "dang! Okay I'll check tomorrow in hopes someone wants to move" because it has been about two weeks since I got my last one to leave. I talked to Hamlet and Aurora because they both had thought bubbles, and luckily, they just wanted to give me presents. I was doing some random stuff, and went into Nook's Cranny to sell off some fish/bugs, and when I came out, Big Top had a thought bubble. I talked to him, and he told me he wanted to see "different places in the world" and I was really happy because he was one of the two islanders I want gone. I don't know how exactly it happened, but I had talked to everyone already that day, including him. I watched your video before this happened, but after I had already talked to everyone so I didn't think he could possibly ask to move out, but now I'm curious if there's some other variable we haven't found yet? I haven't given him gifts in a longgggg time and I only talk to him if he's doing a DIY or yells my name because I want those reactions!

Was the villager that asked to leave originally in their house when you first spoke with them?

@@sulky nope! It was weird, his blinds were closed when I went looking for someone crafting, and when I came back outside he was just outside his front door. I think it turned 9am when I was in the others' house, so that part makes sense. I said good morning, then moved on to other things, shut the game off for an hour or two, then came back to it. I walked right past him before going to the shop to sell my stuff, and when I came back out I saw the bubble. I'm really confused haha

Someone mentioned on fb that the game basically wants you to cycles through the villagers. Befriending your village nemisis might actually help

Hi Sulky! Great video! You can tell you put a lot of time and effort into really testing this and there’s a ton of great info in here I’ve seen no where else. One question I had: if someone asks and you say “no”, is it still 15 days? I only ask because I’ve done no time traveling and had at least 4 now ask since I started a few days post launch. (First three I said “no” to before I really understood the mechanics).

I have had my last villager ask to move out and I have found that it is usually the villagers that I talk to less that want to leave. I have had a villager that I talk to a lot ask to leave but that was only once. Idk if I’m just lucky, as it is usually the villager that I want to move out that asks, or if there are things that contribute to which villagers will leave and I just so happen to be hitting everything right but I do find that not talking to a villager at all helps even though it has supposedly been disproven Edit: I also have been able to get multiple villager to move out within week, without time traveling I think 5 days was the shortest in between time I’ve had.

THANK YOU!!! My bf saw this method somewhere online but it didn't have all the details. You explained it so clearly and detailed that it makes total sense. Definitely gonna relay the message to the boyf so he knows, too. One quick question, though: Can you still talk to villagers that say "Hey, Y/N!" and run towards you or will that screw up the process? Thank you again so SO much for the video!! :)

Yay glad I could help you two out :) I am honestly not sure. There was new data that came out about the code in the game for when/why villagers ask to leave but there wasn't anything mentioned about that. I usually just ignore them to be safe when I'm doing this method ;/

I just want to say, I've done this before and it totally works. Took about a week to kick a villager I wanted out. You can definitely talk to your villagers if they have a thought bubble because sometimes the thought bubble means they wanna sell/give something to you. If your villager does want to leave (but you don't want them gone) exit your game before you choose whether they stay or leave and close your game. Re-enter you game after that and ignore them for the rest of the day

I've been in the game for a bit over a month and the first villager who mentioned leaving was Poppy, one of my favorites. So that kills the idea that ignoring or being mean to a villager makes their moving more likely. But I'll try the routine in this video and see what happens.

The thought bubbles don't always mean that they want to leave. Sometimes they are just feeling down or are trying to sell something they don't want. This isn't super effective. I'd say I get 1-2 thought bubbles a week and only maybe every other week to 2 weeks it is someone who wants to leave. It's still not very often. Note: I have let 3 of my villagers leave since I got the game on launch and only two other times I had villagers wanting to leave, but i convinced them to stay. That makes 7 times since March

Hello! thanks for making this video! i do not believe it is completely random. i tried this method for a month. the move-out bubble kept hopping between the same 8 villagers, who i had all at the same friendship level. i had one villager with a higher friendship level and one with a lower that i had been ignoring back when we thought that was how to kick villagers. for an entire month, the thought bubble never went to either of these two villagers. i do not believe that is a coincidence.

While I do agree it's somewhat random and "friendship" thing is BS, I do think ignoring villagers HELPS in the game deciding on who to kick out. Have you tested talking to the villagers you want to keep, on that "off day" that no one has a thought bubble? Since you said every OTHER day someone was getting a thought bubble, might as well try talking to the ones you want the day before, and ignore the rest? Sorry if that's confusing lol.

So, if you don’t talk to the villagers you want to move out when you don’t have the cool down, but you talk to everyone you want to keep, as long as you talk to all the ones you like fast then it should be the ones you didn’t talk to the set get the thought bubble if there is one for the day? I might have missed something that neglects this but this seems kinda obvious for me, did I miss something?

There actually is a chance that a villager will have a thought bubble if you report the way they talk (not sure abt clothing I have just used the way they talk to have a villager go back to their original catchphrase) but doing this is just a chance
