I really, really like mine. I am playing a JMJM though it with the Line 6 Delay pedal (the new one) and into two amps / cabs. JMJM is on the rhythm circuit with tone rolled off and then backed just a tiny bit to open it back up. It sounds unbelievably good!! I never thought I would like the rhythm circuit but it sounds killer.
Forever, I've wanted a bassman style preamp for my ampless rig. I've used a two notes, I've used the iridium, and now I'm on the ua dream. While I love the way the dream sounds, I've had to do a lot of massaging to help ameliorate the scooped mids characteristic to the deluxe reverb. If ua made a dream style emulator for the fender bassman, I'd use that! I prefer the fender sound, and I love the tone of the dream, even if the mids are more scooped than I'd like. I use a Jackson audio prism preamp to drive the input on the dream, and I have a stone deaf pdf1x before that to give me back the control over my mids that the dream (and really deluxe reverbs in general) doesn't have. This sounds like it could be an AWESOME solution to what I've always wanted from a preamp! It steps up the voltage internally to 18v just like the prism, so I feel like I could expect similar levels of volume and headroom, which would be fantastic. GAHHH, it's like it was literally purpose built for what I'm doing!!! Gonna be hard to not instantly splurge on one of these the second I am left with my own thoughts for too long lol
hahaha, I feel you-I'd been after a Bassman-style preamp for a long time before I got my MIG-50, and then Acorn kind of just serendipitously hit me up about the TM50P not too long after. It breaks up fairly early like the amp, but there's definitely a lot of volume to work with if you want to keep it cleaner, especially if you're running direct or straight to a power amp.
@@ambienttrash5234 for me, the early breakup wouldn't be too bad cause I've got that pdf1x before the preamp. So if I'm hitting it too hard, I can literally just turn the output volume down on the pdf and clean things up
Thank you! I don't have this one up anywhere yet but I do periodically mix these demo tracks together into compilations, so it'll eventually be on Bandcamp and Spotify-just dropped the links in the description!
They're both really solid! I think in terms of sound and feel they're in the same ballpark, considering they're both based on Plexi-style amps. The Citadel just has a little more fine-tune capability with the separate "channel" gains, where those are editorialized into one knob on the TM50P. I haven't A/B'd them in a while but I think the Citadel generally feels like it has a bit more of a loose/open sound and more dynamic response, while the TM50P is a bit more "stiff," but not dramatically or anything. Not good or bad, just a preference thing. Beyond that I think it's just a matter of which voicing you prefer. Candidly, I slightly prefer the Citadel, but I think they're close enough that you're not making any massive compromise in picking one over the other.
Drummer here- hobbyist guitar player. Is this something I could use almost as a boost/dirt pedal into the front of an amp? Please be gentle with my guitar gear ignorance 😅
All good, guitarist and hobbyist drummer here haha! Totally works as a boost/drive in front of an amp, I just chose to go the DI route to get the clearest picture of how it sounds, since I'm sure a lot of folks will be looking at that use case, or going into the FX return of their amp.
@@ambienttrash5234 thanks for the response! I’m looking at going the Hx stomp/tc x3 route for a very simple and silent studio board, but I’ve been looking for a decently versatile and unique drive pedal, and I always wanted a mig 50. Your demo sounds incredible!
Exact same. I was SO excited when I saw this! I just couldn't ever turn up my MIG 50h loud enough to get a good recording tone since I live in an apartment, but I think I just found my solution, and don't feel so heartbroken about selling it. It was my favorite amp ever though.
