Ahhh the linings! The last step before we fit the top and back onto the sides and make a guitar body. I use guitar linings vs guitar kerfing because they add soooo much strength to the guitar sides. Kerfing on an acoustic guitar provides a larger gluing surface for attaching the top and back but really does not add any strength or rigidity to the sides. I want my sides to be strong and rigid for a very specific reason, they make a better sounding guitar.
Mostly recorded using my BMPCC4K camera.

I am always amazed by your skill and knowledge in guitar building. I know you say it's only woodworking but your efforts are something really special. PS: I hope you got a volume discount on your clamps.😄

Just found you today. In the process of going through aal of your videos. How do you finish the exposed edge of the linings? I'm in Waco by the way

The edge towards the middle of the guitar gets a coat of lacquer when I seal the inside of the body. The edge towards the outside of the body is my gluing surface for the top and the back. Hope that helps.

Hi Spence. Question. What do you recommend for acoustic strings ? I have 12s on my composite guitar and I know I have to lower the saddle but I'm scared I will ruin it. Nut is good truss rod is right but 10th through 14th fret too high. Any suggestions?

Strings really are a personal taste issue. On higher quality guitars you can really hear a difference in not only make/model of string but also in string guage. The strings you like on one guitar may sound awful on another. That said, the first strings I install on my own guitars are Elixir Nanoweb extra lights, or med light if I don't have any extra lights around (my guitars don't need big strings to get big sound). As far as your string height issue goes, you can always try lowering the saddle and if you go too low, string buzzing etc, you can either add a shim under the saddle or get a new saddle. Most pre-shaped saddles are $10 or less so no real worries there. Better yet, buy a new saddle, lower it. If it does not work out put the original saddle back in. FYI, a small tweak in the truss rod may be all that it really needs. Guitars change from season to season.
