God, the timing of 1:36 is so damn perfect it's like the bards and Omin were having some ESP with Jim. The music cuts out and Omin's face starts twitching at the same time before the crit is revealed.

Well, if I can be a nerd for a moment, Aleofel did roll to hit to do that damage, the power of Mlora was after he gave the speech, and stood up to act it out a bit - Chris gave him a bonus on saves or something for good role play. Omin just rolled badly - but Chris took pity and didn't make him take damage - thanks in part to the audience.

this shit is waaay more entertaining then it should be.

4th Ed, which is heavily grid-based but only in combat. No point in taking turns moving when there's nothing trying to kill you.

@Dyrnwyn It provided an opportunity for comedy and spectacle, which is at least as important as story, battles, and skill checks for this kind of presentation. Sure, it would make more sense if the family carriage / undead dragon had stairs or something, but then how would we get spectral dragon poop jokes? The skeletal dragon boner joke I could have done without, though.

They aren't slowing the game down. There's not even a pacing issue later in the episodes. Plus what's wrong with a little more showmanship? They just add a slightly different experience. It's a cool aesthetic that adds to an already great show.

yea...subtract the guys playing "music" in the background and this is fantastic. Well...it's fantastic to watch anyway, but the players are sometimes drowned out by the guitar.
