oh, I thought you were going to paint oil over acrylics from the title but I just read your intro and was what you did. It is good to know; as I've never used oils due to my lungs; but learning that there are alternatives to that problem and want to learn how to smooth out things that I've done in acrylic with oils. With that said, I am listening to another artist who said to learn each medium first before jumping right into putting oil over acrylics. So this was good to learn; as I've still have to buy oil and supplies if I want to learn how to paint with them. Besides black and white: What are the colors in oil that I should start with to have the three primary colors and what brand?

Good video! I like that you have your pallet table in front of the easel so that you are further away and can view the painting as some distance. Patrick Raffaelo artist

I've been doing research and have found mixed opinions about which products are best for thinning oil paint and decreasing its drying time. I have a can of regular paint thinner but was told it was the worst for oil paints. I also have a can of Boiled Linseed oil but I hesitate doing anything until I know more from experienced artists such as yourselves. In the end I'm looking to lesson the drying time a bit, thinning the paint as much as possible, and I don't want the look to be overly glossy. Can you please share your thoughts? Thank you!

That is not an oil paint scumble. Check out Dianne Mizes quick tip 68 for the correct demonstration. What he did was just dry brushing.

I did a painting in acrylic and then went over it in oil which I do on some of my paintings. I forgot this painting was painted in oil and fixed a corner in acyrlic. Is there a fix?

You could try rubbing alcohol to remove the acrylic paint the alcohol will not harm the dried oil paint. 🎨

Thanks for the video..! the only problem i am facing is how to make the acrylic colors to look shine during blending somehow it loses the brightness ..tried some mediums but still the colors looks like dead..maybe i missing something ? actually i am using golden artist colors, any advice? thank you

Yossi Bitton 😁 You dont have to worry about the gloss until the entire painting is finished and completely dry. Then you can use either Liquitex gloss varnish or Gamblin Gamvar gloss varnish over the entire picture. They both give beautiful shine and bring out the colors very nicely! Two coats is best , letting them dry for a few hours at least inbetween coats.😁

Maybe i don't know how acrylic works if we compare it to oil colors,,as from my oil paintings experience when the under layer is dead no matter how shine the varnish you put the painting will still look dead :) so i guess it different if we dealing acrylic colors right? however I will give it a try as you said, thank you

@@dnelaaIt could be numbers of things. Maybe your support is sucking the paint dry. Before painting, reduce the absorbency with a layer of matte medium, or for even less absorbency, gloss medium. Be careful to not have too much water in your brush when painting. Use mediums... faster drying mediums on lower layers, slower drying mediums on upper layers... and Yes, use layers. If your last layer is not good, either treat it like the last layer, by testing the paint to ensure the last layer will look the way you want before painting the whole layer a way you don't want... OR... maybe you are not really done with the painting... Maybe you need another layer... Quitting on a layer that is too early can look thin, washy, muddy... Consider more layers

You've shown what to do but failed to explain the purpose and application of these techniques. Not helpful at all. Sorry.
