Acrylic Pouring - Feathers from a split cup.
I was commenting on a different pour artists post the other day saying how you didn't need to do kiss cup pours to get a good feather anymore, and that you could do it with a split cup instead. But I realized afterwards that I'd never actually done it and so might be talking gibberish. I know the theory, but maybe its really hard or looks inferior or something... So I figured I'd try it and create a pseudo tutorial video so that others could do the same. I'm sure I've seen this done and some of my split cup pours have feathery tendencies so its not exactly new news, but it is really easy and everyone loves a good feather pour. I kept the colors in this one simple so we could follow where they ended up, but just mixing some of the colors in each compartment will give a much more psychedelic effect. As it is i really like the 2/3 tone thing going on here.
Couple of things to point out -
1. yes I over-stirred the resin and there was a lot of tiny bubbles and yes you can see some of them left in the final piece as I forgot to go back over with a torch after an hour.
2. It was so glossy at the end that I couldn't get a lot of great shots. All you could see was reflections. but trust me it looks great! :-)
Anyways, simple video doesn't need me to write an essay, so please just let me know what you think and enjoy copying.
