I thought it was going to be impossible to actually find any records here on the island. I went to all 3 charity shops and came up blank. I put an advert in the paper - nothing. Then a FB friend came up trumps - he had found 8 old records in the garden shed when he moved into his house. The sleeves are in bad condition, but the vinyl records are fine for painting on.

I painted a couple of albums but the label showed through once it dried including the centre hole that I filled in! I like how yours turned out.

How is this a beginners tutorial? If Someone stumbled upon this video and had ZERO idea about pouring, this wouldn't teach them anything. Did you prep the vinyl? What was your paint mixture? These are things a beginner would need to know. Also, the music is extremely annoying.

try spinning the record on a small lazy Susan and then pour from the outside towards the center. I've seen it done and it really gives a great affect.

I've now completed many pours on vinyl & yesterday turned one into a clock. However I haven't always bothered to prime with gesso with no problems to date. That changed with my latest pour. The colour from the red label seeped through the paint so I now have. a rather nice LP with a reddish circle round the centre. We learn from our mistakes! I shall now take the time to gesso first.

When you do a pour on a record how do you get it to stay without peeling off?

I have never had a problem with it even ever looking like it was going to peel off. However, I always give it 3 or 4 coats of my favorite varnish - Polycrylic. Best wishes. Deby

Help! Did u pour on both sides? Or what did u do with side two?? If u poured on both sides how did u stop it from dripping on other side??

Do you mix something with the paint to make it this runny? The acrylic paint i have is not that runny..

PS to my previous comment. I have done a pour on a CD in similar colours to the LP which conveniently covers the seeping from the LP label. (I'll still ensure I use gesso on the LPs in future, anyway!)

I did one and want to make it into a clock. Purchased clock parts, do I need to do anything else to record other than the protectant sealer before I do the clock?

You might want to just tidy up the back. Paint it a solid color or remove any fingerprints etc, otherwise, several coats of sealer and it will be all good to hang.

I have stacks of old LPs & would love to have a go. Is it just a round sticky label you put over the hole?

Yes just a simple sticky label. I did use a good quality glossy one, I didn't want the paint to sink in too much and it go soggy.

Can you explain what you mean by a simple sticky label? I have been having troubles trying to figure out what to conceal the holes of mine with.

I have a sheet of glossy sticky labels from the stationery store. Like the Avery labels you get in the packs. Mine are about 2 inches across, have a glossy finish and are the good quality ones, not the sort of cheap labels you can get that don't stick very well. Something like these - amzn.to/2qVN0Rf

I put hot glue In center. No problems. I also spray paint records on both sides. Then I cut a paper circle for the back, after it has dry take the paper.looks clean.

Have you done both sides of a record before ? If you wanted to hang it up on the wall what is the best way to do it ? Great idea , I seen some old records and bring something new to them. But just wondering bout how to hang it as a piece on the walls and if you want both sides done.

So I have been doing this for awhile. What I use to hang them is hot glue and string. Make a knot and glue it to the back . Works really good . Just need to paint the backs before you do this because the pour can get on there . Or you can tape it off . One problem with doing pours on records though, is the sticker in the middle coming through. The older the record the harder it is to get off

When I do a pour on vinyl the paint never stays on the edges and slowly moves to the middle of the vinyl so there’s sheer to no paint around the rim. Why is that?

The torching pops any bubbles in the paint that might cause holes when it dries, and if you have added silicone, it can also help to create more cells.

Sorry to hear you are going through a rough patch, we all have them. And putting yourself under pressure isn't going to make you feel any happier when things aren't going right. Hopefully once you step back, breath, relax and not try so hard, the joy and results will come back. I do know how you feel, I just had a week of scraping off paint myself !

Deby at Acrylic Pouring I done my first record pour tonight I had post office shipping tape to cover holes was this ok let me know. I am disappointed with my first record pour I will show you link I didnt get many cells used treadmill for silcone two drops to each cup of paint does it make a difference if you spin record I done mine like you done yours. do you do anything to back also do you have to spray it once its dry I have a clear crystal spray I use on my rocks can i use it on record its 4 a can at freds is varnish same as seal

Torching is just one decision you can't take back! And yes, I usually never add music to the videos but my neighbours gardener was there all day with bush cutters, chain saws etc and there was a horrible noise in the background I had to drown out. Maybe the chain saw would have been better!

I'm sorry but this is NOT a "Tutorial" and the music is AWFUL! How about removing the music and narrating an actual tutorial of what products to use, how to mix them, and tips along the way?
