This video really helped me understand although this technique takes too much time for ACT testing considering we only have 60 minutes for 75 questions.
in this video i work through 5 problems in about 6 minutes which is about the right pace and that include explaining different ways of doing things and making observations - with some practice you will be able to do these problems quickly
