my dream is to be a navy SEAL, so when i graduate from high school and college i'll go to BUDS (basic underwater demolition seal training) I will go through the six months and i will make it. Cause i believe in myself and that is my dream

I'm 11 years old and my brother died before he could of gone but I will follow his foot steps like he Wanted to in a five man group like this, he wanted to be a sniper and he would of like this movie he died 2013 he wanted to go see this movie.

When he said, 'I'm getting out. I'm getting old. Somebody's got fill my shoes.My jaw just dropped. Are you kidding me? He shouldn't give up such important and highly respectful job. As a born Muslim living in New Zealand, I watched the movie a few times and loved it and the Navy SEALS. I have a great admiration for them and their bravery.

You're being so thoughtful and considerate towards him. I get it. But I still think it's too soon to retire. I love these guys. The Navy SEALs are my heroes. It's not easy to find real men, real Warriors. If he's so determined to quit, I'll respect his wishes. I have respect for firefighters too for their heroism, rescuing innocent lives from burning buildings, houses etc. By the way, are you in the US Army?

I think the real reason why he retired is because his identity was considered a breach of security. Also, after making a film that went straight to the big screen, well, that creates an ass loud of attention; worldwide! Remember, none of these guys wanted to do this in the first place; however, their CO's and some other military officials from the D.O.D. encouraged them to play in this movie because they said "no" in the first time. So, most of these guys are retiring or became instructors.

Not a breach of security. DOD and NSW put this movie out as s SEAL recruiting tool. DEVGRU is tier 1. Everything they do is top secret. Conventional SEAL teams keep a low profile but they aren't a bunch of Jason Bourne secret ninja assassins either.

Why would you leave the Seal teams from being a badass seal Sniper to being a Firefighter? I thought once you left the military you got a pension so you don't have to work?

Being in the military and having a family is tough let alone the SEAL teams. He probably wanted a civilian career where it is brotherhood and team oriented, honorable, paramilitary, yet easy to have a family on. Fire department is a perfect place for it, especially in LA. My grandfather retired 22years in the USN as a SCPO and became a Correctional Officer and retired with 2 pensions. I am 22 and planning on doing the same thing. Doing my time and serving my country and then getting out, starting a family and get hired by a Fire Department.

You can't keep doing this job, being away from your family for 10 months of the year either on deployment or training, come home and your kids are strangers to you. What is the divorce rate in this line of job? Even if it's not even this, in the military in general? Very high.
