In this lecture, we discuss the genus Actinobacillus a group of host associated organisms which cause some interesting infections in animals; specifically we discuss A. pleuropneumoniae, A. suis, A. lignieresii and A. equuli. I cover the basic microbiological characteristics, taxonomy, virulence factors, common clinical presentations, sample collection and diagnostic strategies, zoonotic potential and treatment options.
