Action Base 1 Review 

Finally a good review of this base. 6yrs later and there's still hardly any good reviews of it...

Dude I respect the fact that you don't only review kits. You reviewed toys, hands and now action bases. Thanks for keeping me entertained.

For LARGE and heavy MG like ZZ, I recommend avoiding the center hole completely; it can push the surrounding plate completely off the ground, and the MS will quickly do the opposite. Tears and man-wailing will ensue.

Big gundam: you can put me on this stand but you can’t make me look like I’m flying.

Great review. Thanks so much. I ran into the same issue with my 1/144 scale using the Action Base 1. They look really small in comparison to what they look like with the 1/100 scale (much better), but I purchased a couple of them at my local hobby store for $6, so I will use them. I like they way they can be arranges, that was nice to show, as well.

yup that works but i find that the U shaped connector to be a bit flismy and loose. i just took my broken old free stand( the black one from the hg stargazer) and fitted the RG connector with some super glue.

I am yet to try my hand at a AB3, but when I do it's to see if I can mount it on the wall as it is apparently doable. I find AB's quite useful and glad they are so multi functional.

something about your videos always make each gundam look sexy no matter what. i didn't like the gp03 before, but this video makes it look so good

You should get 5 action bases together and put the Endless Waltz kits together. I think that would look pretty good.

Thanks so much for this vid. I've looked for vids on action bases for a while and all I could find was Robbertt's action base 3 vid. These actually have more features than I expected.

I had the same problem, the RG connector is for the Action base 2 (the one for 1/144 kits) If you want to use a RG with a Action Base 1 you need to use the slim U shaped connector that comes with the base.

Some kits are designed to use the clip denoted as "completely useless". The MG Providence Gundam is one which uses it, it clips onto a horizontal bar on the back. I broke the one which came with the kit and came to this video to find out if this action stand is an appropriate replacement and it fortunately turns out that it is.

There is also clear green action base 1's that have a sparkle like effect in them.

The part with the X mark can be used only with the sazabi ver ka as far as I know

The "useless" connector is the same connector use on the MG WZC's base. So you could use an Action Base instead of the included stand.

I think that piece that was crossed out was a connector made to plug into the port in MG Wing Zero Custom's back pack, in case you didn't want to use the base that comes with the kit.

I know this is a pretty late message - but I've just put together the MG FA-78 Full Armor Ver Ka and it comes with it's own stand with a unique connector. Have you build this kit and do you know if this action base will work with it? The base that comes with it is REALLY shakey and feels almost like it will snap under the weight of the kit.

For me the main problem is the upper joint. For some reason it is quite loose for me and if I try to have any model kit on it like say, the MG 00 Raiser, it turns into just as a delicate balancing act as it would be on the ground. If you as much as nudge it, it goes toppling over. I don't know if I am doing anything wrong.

You could weight down the base for larger kits. Modeling clay would work, resin would also work, but would be expensive.

I like these bases but I just can't recommend the clear ones. At all. Clear plastics are always very brittle, I almost lost my MG Strike Freedom Full Bust Mode because the connector between the kit and the action base broke. The solid colored bases are fine though. Never had a problem with those! I bought a white one and it even holds my MG Full Armor Unicorn just fine. Sooner or later they could all break though. So I always recommend checking the bases regularly for small cracks!

I only have one Actionbase 1 for the RX-0 Full Armour and thats a heavy kit, they always did say that the kshatriya would need one since the AB2 is too small.

Come on MG 2.0 GP03 Stamen! We have Nu Ver Ka coming out next month, give us a good kit from 0083! (The Perfect Grade GP01 looks wonderful, but I can't afford it)

In had to use that piece you ditch in the beginning. I got an1/100 wing custom from endless walts mg kit for christmas and an action base. None of the underneath slot parts really fit under the legs...had huge gap. Maybe cause my midel was an older mg.

That one piece that's x'd out is also used on the 1/100 Legend (the first kit with the Action Base 1).

I had to glue the pivot joint where the model connects to the AB. Wouldn't stay tight so my MG Sinanju kept falling forwards or backwards.

Nice review! Only if Bandai would make a action base 4 or something for PG and 1/60 kits like you said. That would be great, as I could finally put my PG Wing Zero on one. =D

Do you think this kit is strong enough to hold an HG Kishatriya? I'm looking for a base to properly display it. Also, with that little square piece that can be locked in anywhere around the octagon, could you have two of these bases connected together facing each other (it would form a dumbell like shape). I'm interested in having two suits facing each other in a clash. Thanks for the videos! I've been considering getting a base for a long time, but this video has sold me on one.. or two!

Actually, I find that if you cut the dry-transfer decal with the Kit's name and scale it's almost perfect fit for that little "sign-post." Really helpful thanks!

thanks for sharing, this was very helpful. I was about to buy a lot of these stands for some alien and predator action figures that are big and heavy, and it ends up they don't have that type of crotch joint :D!! ^^

I got the Fed action base, it seems when try to do a wide leg pose using the "crotch cradle" the legs tend to fall off

Don't you want Gundams to be easily accessible? If he garners enough support, then Bandai just might consider reestablishing their North American presence. That would be beneficial to us, since we wouldn't have to pay so much for the Gundams due to lower tariffs, shipping, and customs.
