I remember watching him as a kid. And to think he's still doing it after 40 years, how many people can say that on a local tv program? Jim is the best, period.
Wow congratulations to him! That's so crazy! I grew up watching Jim along with Marc Howard, Dave Roberts, Nora Muchanic, Monica Malpass, Lisa Thomas-Laury, Don Pollock... I could go on and on.. Best news station ever.
But nobody absolutely nobody remembers a man who was with them briefly... it was either early or mid-1960s... I was really little but I'm pretty sure his name was Al McDowell
I moved to Lexington, KY last year in March. I was raised since I was as a toddler right up until I was 41 on Action News and Jim Gardner. I found this video by accident and I am glad I did. I am not exactly sure when this newscast was originally aired but I have missed you guys ( everyone at Action News) living in Kentucky so Jim's 40 year to me is a celebration!!
I remember Jim Gardner dating back to the early 80's as a boy watching channel 6 Philadelphia before the cable era, with the rooftop mounted directional antenna here in Central PA.
Wow! I was in 3rd grade when he signed on to WPVI! I moved out of the Del Val area in 1992. I know this was uploaded a while ago, but I want to say "Thank You" for your hard work and keeping us informed for the past 40 years. I also want to say God bless you, and God bless your family!
Jim Gardner! One news anchor I will never forget. I grew up watching this guy and I look forward to seeing him on-screen each time I visit the Delaware Valley 👍☺ .
I remember Jim Gardner was telling a piece about a naked man got stuck upside down in a trash chute hiding from police for burglary and had to be rescued by the police. Jim so wanted to laugh and you can hear him crack a bit but he held it together. He still was trying to fully compose himself after a commercial break and well after the weather report.
Jim is still so handsome. I grew up in Philly with Jim Gardner and Jim O’Brien; I remember exactly what I was doing when I heard about Jim O’Brien’s death. I now live in Georgia and am glad to see he’s still around.
I am so sad he’s retiring. That man could announce anything from the desk and I’d believe him. He could announce on April Fools that aliens were streaking down Broad Street and I’d be like, “oh, interesting.”
