14:23 one must always be alert for the deadly Snow Crab ⛄️ 🦀!!! Solid play this week, I'm sure Zeus was gruff but secretly happy with the trend. The bonus hand format sure does spice up the endings! A real ginger snap of a vlog. You don't get a compliment like that every day.
Nice to see grind days too, much more honest depiction of regular poker play. Always learning something from your commentary. For example, that $40 raise your friend made was definitely too small I though he needed to go to $100 to try to pick up the dead money
You need to play bigger blinds , the players are better and read boards before making decisions, 1-2 and 1-3 are full of pay off wizards , difficult to bluff as the money is hardly ever enough to hurt!! best regards from the UK Doug, hugs to Zeus, cheers Fraser
They do spread a 2-5 and occasionally a 2-5-10 at night. I find the action in the 1-3 game is too good to leave. When I travel, I always play 2-5 and up.
5:50 After the turn I think I would have checked just in fear of being reraised and not being able to call and realize the equity of the nut flush. I like your play a lot more.....I think I play a bit too fearful. Nice wins.
it helps when you READ opponent's hand strength. A lot! Playing tight and aggressive can bring you a grievance only. Three ways: a) *annoyance*: waiting too long to have something playable b) *disappointments*: when finally you have a made hand, nobody cares. c) *frustration*: when finally have a playable hand, someone puts max aggression on you; just to learn you ran into a stronger monster! Or being bluffed by a strong player who reads you playing tight and aggressive only!
Hey Doug I'm a Doug to lol. I'm wanting to visit Sacramento and meet ya. Do you play on the weekends. Long time sub and love your videos and going to start my own channel
Hey, Doug. I love your videos. I’m looking for good study materials and I know you recommend The Course by Ed Miller. Would you say it’s still relevant in most of today’s 1/2 and 1/3 games? Hope you’re well, and good luck out there.
Hi Doug. As we all seem to do, we 'overvalue' AK... I think that sometimes (especially when you are up against a 'nit') you should just call and see if your AK hits the flop. Having AK is not a license to shove on a 'short' stack... What do you think????
Bomb pot got me again brother... I'll never play one again. From now on I'll use that time to get up and stretch legs, take a piss, get a drink, whatever!! lol Remove all the bomb pot losses from my stats and I'm a winning player.
that makes sense. If you're card dead for a long, then you finally get something playable and continue losing/being outdrown - then a garbage hand always (96%) does! Try it. (this provided that some overconfident player with. monster pocket pair makes a monster PF mistake and let you cheaply in).
I just played my first 24 hour session, 3pm-3pm it was a lot of ups and downs but overall I ended up walking away with a profit of $3600 🎉why did I do it? Idk but it was fun 😂
@@dougmccuskerpoker thanks, I have only been playing for 2 years but I enjoy watching your videos and it helps me with strategy since I also play 1/3, luckily though our 1/3 game has a max buy in of 2k. It’s the biggest game in my area, sometimes they have 2/5 but it’s rare but also uncapped. But for now I just stick with the 1/3 trying to get my bankroll to a decent size for the eventual bigger game. Thanks for your videos , keep the content coming 😁
Against a nit sure, against someone you think is capable I disagree. If you play in a lower stakes game where only sets and straights raise then I agree with you.
We have played against each other a few times. He knows that I would put pressure on his over pairs with my combo draws and my made hands. I feel he made 2 errors on that hand. 1 his preflop raise was too small and 2. Betting pot on such a wet board leads to trouble. I think calling my jam was only slightly -ev.
Facing a pot size bet from PFR in a multiway pot with opponents who could’ve also hit that board makes it less likely he would be bluffing cause there’s just less fold equity
