I was not aware of this feature on my 2018 E-Class until when I was entering a parking garage one day. The garage has a down slope and a large equipment hanging on the celling. The car thought I was going to collide with the celling equipment and initiated the warning and braking system. This is a good safety feature that should be required by NTSB on all make-models.
Mercedes, something doesn't make sense, what's the difference between this emergency braking system, and the emergency braking system that you get with the cars that have the driving assistance package?
Does this work when reversing? I can’t see anything in the literature, but I was in a c class that stopped when reversing out of a spot due to cross traffic. Can someone confirm if this feature is standard in reverse too?
Hello Robin, thank you for your inquiry about the A-Class. Our models vary by country, so we recommend reaching out to your local Mercedes-Benz Retailer. Our dealership colleagues are best equipped to provide you with specific details and assistance.
Thanks for your interest, riccagianna. The Active Brake Assist system showed in this video is standard fitted on all new Mercedes-Benz vehicles as of 2016. You can learn all about it by visiting; mb4.me/hKg6OrHm. Kind regards, your Mercedes-Benz Social Media Team
Hi Nico, you'll find all the information on this feature in the owners' manual. If needed, our colleagues at your local Mercedes-Benz service center will be more than happy to assist you. 🙂
@@MercedesBenz Very true. I like that about Mercedes. I have a 2016 one and I really hope it does have it. Recently I had a traumatic experience where I hit a woman on the street with my W212 E class but thankfully she wasn’t hurt. A few days ago I bought a 2016 GLE 250 and I really am hoping that it has this feature just in case. I was checking with the chassis number if it has it and I was able to find “COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM WITH FCW-STOP ACTIVE BRAKE APPLICATION” I am not sure how it works and how to test if it works. Thank you very much for replying.
Yes that's what the collision warning system is. As far as "testing", we not advise it. It's never a good idea to drive towards another vehicle without braking.
Hi, thank you for your interest! This version of the E-Class has this feature as a part of its standard equipment. For more information, please contact your local Mercedes-Benz dealership.
Thank you for your comment! 🙂 We’d suggest to get in touch your local retailer regarding this. You can find the contact information for the closest one to you on the following page: mb4.me/wUNu77qj.
Same question. Just bought one. Has menu option, but not sure if it has the capability, because it doesn't appear to have front sensors. What if anything did you learn?
