- Quick and simple way to create more realistic ragdoll animation.
- You are able to change character's muscle strength, switch between different ragdoll poses and physics assets on the fly during gameplay.
- Test map and test blueprints (which you can place in the level) are provided to help you see how the ragdoll behaves in different situations.
- User Interfaсe, Controls, Slowmotion, Explanation and Comments.
- No need for any external plugins, everything is made entirely in Editor with blueprints.

Is there a way to combine this system with a marionette like interface? for ie you have the ragdoll active at all times and using the mouse you can spawn ropes like a marionette to pull it back ?

It's probably possible, but the question is how good will it look. You'll need a pretty advanced setup that requires either attaching ropes to the skeleton or have them built into the skeleton itself as bones. You will also need a way to control the marionette rig so that the resulting animation looks good. And also don't forget that it will all run in a real-time videogame physics engine, which isn't exactly known for perfect stability or good collisions (ropes could entangle or be ripped apart, collisions will look weird etc.) In general anything is possible if you put enough time into it, but this is a pretty advanced setup that will require a lot of testing and tweaking to make it look good.

The ragdoll mode is enabled in the character blueprint (check the FlipFlop node). There is a node that switches between ragdoll and normal modes, so whatever way you can trigger that node will work: can be a button press, damage, collision or some level trigger etc.

You can see it at 3:00 in the video. It goes into ragdoll mode, from which you can either get up with an animation or simply teleport to normal mode.

@@mishanya2077 i want to see how it reacts to getting punched or kicked.. like the hit reaction.. i understand it can go full ragdoll on hit.

Hey, UE4 and UE5 use different physics engines so the ragdoll looks different. Unfortunately there's not much I can do here aside from telling you to switch back to UE4 instead of using UE5.

@@michellecuenco7487 did you open the project in UE4 or UE5? UE4 and UE5 use different physics engines (UE4 uses PhysX, UE5 uses Chaos). So depending on which engine you’re using, you are going to see slightly different results. There are two versions of Active Ragdoll project, one for UE4 (old) and one for UE5 (new). So if you want the old one select Unreal Engine 4 when creating a new project in Epic Launcher and then open it in UE4. If you want the new one - select Unreal Engine 5 and use UE5.
