Would be curious to see if you change the order and start the A/Cs first on the genny, then the lights, TV, etc, if it would power two A/Cs. I don't know that the app will show you the actual amount of the amperage spike on startup, since it's only a split second. Might work, until they cycle at least, if you start them in a different order. Thanks for great vids.

One thing to keep in mind is that you lose some usage watts from your generator when running it off of propane. Using gas (if a dual fuel) will give you some more. I have a gas only model and can run two ACs and my TV (with the soft start).

If you said, I didn't hear...what size are your A/C units (13.5 or 15)? I've been seriously considering the competitors "plug and play soft start" but this one seems to do the same things and is more affordable. Also, people are balking at the ~ $500 price - I'm guessing they haven't checked the price of the soft start units that you wire directly to your A/C? The popular ones run $275+ and you need one for each unit!

So if protector trips does it reset automatically or is it junk and you have to buy a new one? Love your videos 🇺🇸✌️
@WaywardWaggs
@WaywardWaggs Год назад
It resets automatically and nothing is damaged. It basically shuts itself down before any damage occurs to the device or the RV. A surge is a different story. A major surge will kill the device but this is true with most surge protectors. It kills the surge protector to protect the RV. I hope this answered your question adequately.

You shouldn't need cell service to get it to work. It works through Bluetooth.
@flash8051
@flash8051 Год назад
So the question I have is: why did the current spike to 34 amps when starting the second A/C on the gen. but came nowhere near that amount when plugged into the 30 amp shore power? Was it due to excessive voltage drop from the generator? Shouldn't have happened though if the soft start was working properly. Something doesn't seem right...
@WaywardWaggs
@WaywardWaggs Год назад
I think it was because I was using propane to run the generator. I get less power output from the generator when using propane. Had I been using gas, I think it would have been less of a spike.
@flash8051
@flash8051 Год назад
@@WaywardWaggs That sounds plausible...because as the voltage drops, the current level would climb (Ohms law). I have the hardwired RV SoftStart units...I'm wondering if these are a bit more effective than the plug and play version at preventing high start current spikes?
