I don't know if you know this though, Dale, but Tangkuban Perahu literally translates to "Capsized Boat" because it really does look like a capsized boat when you see it from Bandung downtown. Its name has something to do with a legendary folklore "Sangkuriang". Go look it up if you have the time 😉

Kalau ga salah denger setelah Dale beli kayu kerajinan yang pertama, si penjualnya bilang ke Pak Uca nanti bagiannya dikasih. Pak Uca juga bilang "Teu baleg" = 'ga bener' setelah Dale beres rendem kakinya, mungkin karena gagal dapat uang tambahan.

HI Dale.. actually Tangkuban Perahu is an amazing active volcano even though the smell of 'Telor busuk' is stinging hehe.. I visited when I was kid in 1987 and only 1 crater then returned to visit in October 2021 after there is a 2nd crater and the place is still amazing to me.. Enjoy Dale with Bandrek 😍 and stay safe.. Tourist attraction places in Bandung are mostly designed to attract the local tourist because there's a lot of "tourists trap" there, and our people has such a "generation to generation cultural habit" like, they love to buy a souvenirs from the place they visits especially for their family/ relatives/ bestfriends/ schoolmates/ teachers/ colleages/ partner/ boss/ someone special as a gift to express that you're really concern to them. But it's not necessary though, as long as they're not knowing that u're taking a vacation/ holiday. But if you got caught up empty handed after taking a holiday/ vacation, you better be ready to be their gossip target 😁

This is such a lovely video Dale! The last time I went to Tangkuban Perahu is in 2019 before the lockdown, watching this kinda gives me nostalgic feelings. Anyway I need to tell you that the price for the Batik Tree tray in 30:57 is normal.... or maybe if you want to bargain, normally in 75k or 80k..... 20k rupiah/pcs is too cheap for those lovely natural pattern. To be added, they need to farm those tree 20 km from there. Anyway please enjoy your stay in Bandung! 🤗

Wow, you went to Tangkuban Perahu through Nyampai Street in Ciputri village. There's a hillside across to Maribaya that used to be owned by my grandpa family, it's a lot smaller now because they sold several acree of crops and rent the rest to the local vegetables farmer. I wish we could brew a nice homegrown arabica coffee from my grandpa plantation while chilling in an unfinish WW2 Japanese cave or beside the fishing pound. Nice video tho, love it!
I used to drive all around the scenic yet dangerous roads around Tangkuban Perahu on a motorcycle on my own a long time ago. I was only 17. I didn't even have a license, but i snuck out to drive speedily to enjoy the cold air and tall spooky trees while listening to music. i thought i wouldve died one of those days... but here I am years later. It was a nice place to live nearby, but very lonely and rural. glad i moved

I knew someone who started a strawberry farm in Uganda, a similar equatorial climate, but there's a reason why crops from temperate climates don't fare well in the tropics. I see these are not grown in the earth, but in bags of prepared compost to try to kill pathogens. Ultimately, strawberries aren't robust enough to survive well in a climate where there are no frosts to cleanse the soil between seasons.
