I'm genuinely curious, I can't see a reason why they would. the only way i've seen them own up for any negatives they've caused is through their oil spill "volunteer" cleanup campaigns, which they only do for positive pr after causing a obviously major environmental disasters. (the only reason they volunteer to do it is because the government will force them to do it anyways through the courts, and it looks better to the public if they decide to do it of their own accord.)

because it's about bringing attention to them and their cause, and those kinds of sporting events aren't _as popular_ on the international stage in comparison to world-renowned antique art or ancient monuments, both being huge tourist attractions. no shade to those who love those sports! this is just my observation. (they're all obviously popular but the art that typically gets targeted and the monuments have had a lot more time to accrue fame in comparison.)

I have more than one brain cell and that allows me to figure out that environmental activists have enough brain cells not to do actions which will cause the public to react against their cause. Use your one brain cell to figure out whose interests were served by this action. Then ask your brain cell if it is likely that it was organized and paid for by fossil fuel interests. Did you ever hear of the ancient tactic of provocateur actions, otherwise known as false flags?
