More than 1000 hours went into this new feature, from architecture to design, development and QA. It's taken a long time to release but I'm very proud of what our team have been able to achieve with this new feature. I can't wait to see your feedback, and I'm excited to see how you incorporate custom reactions inside your communities.
This is very good, I have been waiting for it for a long time. But where is the notification? (When any user leaves an emotion on a post or comment, the author of the post/comment should receive a corresponding notification)
First off, congrats to the BB team. A long awaited feature has been finally released. However, I have to say that its a bit underwhelming: First of all, it is 2024 and no animated emojis? Really? Not even more modern looking icons? Really? They look so old and outdated. Now, I cannot speak for everyone but I bet that most BB users will not even try to use them. Secondly, the only good thing is that you added the option to upload custom icons, well sort of. Icons are typically small, even many emojis. The minimum upload file size is 200kb, and for those who have not noticed the max. file size is 400. Good luck finding a desired icon/PNG in the right size range. Please let the community know as soon as you can how we can change the minimum file size as this way we are pretty much stuck with the outdated looking icons. Finding custom icons/PNGs that fall in the 200-400kb range will not be easy. So, please let us know ;)
All I can say is wow, this a really amazing addition to the platform! Can you PLEASE add this functionality to the forums? That would be a really helpful addition. I feel like the forums don't get the love they deserve but there are still thousands of users who love them!

Well I messed up; sorta. 😂 I've accidentally installed this update to my production site and my members went wild with this long anticipated change. I said messed up because I wanted to switch back to just the "Like" option but it was too late as they have tasted the sugar and there's no going back. The problem now is that I am limited to just six icon according to the technician who responded to my ticket. I've asked him to double check on that as it is hard to believe that we would be limited to just six emotions. Now, I know for a fact that 6 is not true because I had TEN on my production site originally with some of them being duplicates which I deleted and now regret that because I soon discovered that rather than deleting the duplicates, I could have just replaced them as a custom icon. When I finally realized that, I stopped deleting the duplicates and now have SEVEN active icons on the database that does indeed show up on my production side. This is why I believe we will probably see another update shortly that will allow us to add much more icons to the database. 👍
1. Pointless without it being on forums, much like how you guys made redirect, but didn't think that its also useless, unless it redirects to the page the user was on before they logged in. yet that wasn't fixed either because you think that delivering MORE half baked features is somehow "BETTER" that delivering less fully FUNTIONAL features. Your reply to another comment says it all: "(4) We do have plans to expand this feature in future, but this is parked right now while we work on other tasks " so basically lets not fix the feedback from the users, but instead focus our attention on the next shiny half baked feature - "great business model" 2. 4:40 Hover does not work
Wow! Love the custom icon. It can be used in so many different ways.

Oh dear, what do I see there? This new feature is a huge advantage! I'm so excited, this will allow me to create posts with emojis and reactions! Oh là là, qu'est-ce que j'aperçois là ? This is great, but do you have plans to bring likes (or reactions) to forum posts and comments? That's where they're needed the most! Now that would be a game-changer!
We do have plans to add a lot of the newer activity features when we get around to revamp the Forums component, right now we're still finishing up on our Activity module.
As a developer, I am delighted with the introduction of this feature. Numerous clients have inquired about it, and I'm thrilled that it has now been released.

Great! One issue though. I have a 6th slot for a 6th icon and when I go to add one, and choose it, I get a notification saying “Emotion label characters should be within limit.” despite having space. Any idea why?
1. WP Developer's reactions plugin has been out forever now. (Has anyone actually waited this long to give their community reactions?!?) 2. You guys didn't even make svg animated icons (like facebook). So this isn't modern. 3. Frustrating that you all focused on this instead of notification digests (group email notifications).
Yeah true… i made a mad post the last days. Now i was hyped and would delete my negativ posting…. But then i tryed it…. Puhhh Really ugly… i tought they work with wp reactions together… (wp reactions Said, as i bought the Plugin one year ago - bb Feature is coming - Maybe Thats a Hope)
Edit: Found it! I didn't see it showcased in the video so I thought it wasn't a thing... However, hovering over activities like buttons does not show the reactions for me, only on comments@@meazlesgolf3455 I must be missing this. Where is that option?
During uploading of profile photo, it's coming error as "HTTP error"and sometime as"there was a problem cropping your profile photo"..... So any one reply and Help me that how to fix it .
We will be bringing a lot the activity features we've recently added into Forums when we take a look at the entire component; it will be some point this year, but it's not our immediate focus.
Thank you Graham and Team Buddy Boss! I have submitted a support ticket as I am missing the "Add iCon" box and it appears that I can only have 5 icons, which is probably not true and I am sure support will issue an update to address this. Great progress just the same!!!😀
Love the idea of the update, but it broke the like/reaction function for me all together...now when someone clicks like it sends to a blank white page with tons of code....Would reccomend testing this on your own site before going live!
We always recommend testing on a staging site, especially with new features. With that said, please submit a support ticket so our team take a look at the situation for you.

There has been a rise of bots using the REST API for registration, we're looking at how we address this but it is a cat and mouse game. If you're not using the REST API, you can consider using a plugin such as "Disable Rest API". If you're an app user you will need this left open; and so we're looking at how we can make this more difficult for the bots.
This is amazing - that's so great! I've just tried to upload a custom icon - I have an png 512x512 which is 20kb. When I try to upload it I get a message "Sorry - you're not allowed to upload icon less than 200KB.". Is there a reason why we need to use such large icons?
Yeah, it is a joke which icon has less than 200kb?? Oh and by the way if you have not noticed yet the max. upload size is 400kb. SO you need to find custom icons/PNGs in teh range of 200-400kb, well good luck! what is this a joke to them?
@@stefanpfadt4353 I think it must be a mistake. To upload my custom reaction icons I had to resize them to 3800x3800px - perhaps they intended the range from 200bytes instead of kb
Amazing update! Congratulations to the team for the hard work!👏 A few questions: 1) Are the default icons available as svg to be customized (for example for changing the background color of the thumbs up icon)? 2) How many reactions icons maximum can we display on desktop and mobile? 3) Does it slow down website/app to have too many icons? 4) Is it planned to have submenu with more icons? For example : 6 defaults icons and possibility for the user to browse in a submenu to choose another emoji than the 6 by default. 5) Is it planned to have animated reactions?
(1) No, they're not SVGs, it's all PNG (2) 6 at most (3) Make sure your images are as small as possible, but it should be at least 200kb. (4) We do have plans to expand this feature in future, but this is parked right now while we work on other tasks (5) Not at the moment - this is one of the improvements that I have parked under (4) I hope that helps @Paution - enjoy the new feature!

That helps a lot 👍 I prefer SVG because files are smaller and have no pixels because they are vectors so please add SVG support for a future update 🙏 There is no rush for this feature or the others suggested. I prefer to have social login first (for example) than these improvements but it's good to know they will come at some point in the future. Congratulations again for the amazing work!

Exactly, we could have used the old "reactions" plugin that had the exact same old outdated icons and also no animated emojis. We waited for more than 2 years for what? oh and did you also notice that custom PNGs need to be in the range of 200-400kb to be used? good luck finding a PNG that fits this range!
