I fell in love with Mr Cary Grant watching his(my first) movie Mr Blandings builds his dream house. while I was in High School I was 15 and Mr Cary Grant was 53 and I never gave a damn about Rob lowe. no wonder he is LOW
Actually I'ver never heard of Rob Lowe or Rich Eisen but the whole world knows who Cary Grant was. I'm also not familiar with modern U.S. expressions so does ''close with'' mean seduce?
@@2011littlejohn1 "Closing" is a term from the business of sales. It means to seal the deal, to get the customer to sign on the bottom line. For example, a used car salesman might say, "It took a while, but I finally closed that guy." In the film "Glengarry Glen Ross," there's a famous scene where the hotshot Alec Baldwin character tells the cowed salesforce of a sleazy real estate company that the most important thing is: "ABC! Always! Be! Closing!" Rob Lowe is borrowing that language to imply that he was trying to "close the deal" with this girl--that is, trying to get her to say yes to him.
Rob Lowe is not a failed actor! He grew beyond the "Brat Pack" to do the "West Wing" (drama) & "Parks & Recreation" (comedy). He's just not a major movie star from the golden era like Cary Grant!
