ABC News’ Linsey Davis spoke with Ncuti Gatwa about making history as the first openly queer black actor to play “Doctor Who”&with actress Millie Gibson about making history as the youngest companion.
What a wild comment. "An idiot"? Where did you get this idea from? Do you have any clue how much this character means to so many of us? Whoa your comment is a head scratcher.
Ncuti makes a good point about having diverse roles for a show in which the main character literally regenerates is actually completely sensible and natural from a writing standpoint
Not long til dr who arrives on our screens. Ncuti Gatwa is gonna be brilliant in his first full season as The Doctor. Also great to see Dr who get so much attention worldwide.
TLDW; ncuti feels blessed to have been in so many projects lately, millie thinks that the biggest hook for the show is the relationship between the doctor and her, ncuti feels that the fact that he's the first black and queer doctor fits in with the entire show, and isn't too groundbreaking in context, millie is proud to be a young companion, David gave some great advice to ncuti about pressure and taking on the role, millie talked to Karen Gillan for advice online, and they had a really great and supportive conversation about being a companion, aaaand- TEASER: lots of outfits and madness.
The new doctor who series is absolutely fantastic ❤and the new doctor who guy is brilliant and lovely Millie gibson❤ as lovely Ruby ❤ is my favourite companion of all time ❤❤
Multi style would be more accurate. It's actually very rare for a doctor to only have 1 outfit, but they typically keep to a consistent style. This is the first doctor to so regularly change styles.
11 had 2 outfits! 10 had a few different ones in different colours but he still retained his general style. 5, 6, 7 & 9 all wore just 1 outfit! 15 definitely has the most variation in both outfits and styles which is pretty cool to be fair!
They're too hung up on identity politics and political correctness, not good entertaining stories. This will be off Disney plus after 2 years due to low viewership.
@@fullriver1234Progressive and wokeness are two completely different concepts. Doctor Who has always been progressive - only recently has it turned towards a shallow, liberal mockery of progressivism.
It’s really so good to see the show get so much attention in the USA. It’s been pretty popular over here since the revival in 2005, but I’m really hoping being on Disney+ takes it to the mainstream American audience.
If you're a Brit, the opening monologue does come across like 'Have you heard of this thing called the Bible?' Of course, if you're a Brit the response is likely to be 'Yeah, but I never watch it'. Certainly getting a lot of media calls the other side of the pond. Very much a wait and see.
That coment was a bit extreme of that newsreader, openly quear. I dont think she would have got away with that in the UK. 😮I got a feeling it's going to be the best in a very long time.
As far as TV star interviews go, this one was awkward. Lots of empty rhetoric and not much said. And it's at a serious news desk, with light entertainment guest seats. Still, ABC being owned by Disney means the cross-promo has to happen, right?
Wow they are certainly getting some mainstream exposure in the USA. Who would have thought it? Please be a good “series”. Will the Doctor be “Queer”? or is the actor’s defined sexuality? Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
The actor is queer, but I doubt it will translate to the character the Doctor. He’ll be the same as always. Find of flirty and kind of fun and serious all at the same time.
That's great and all but i don't want the whole entire show too heavily focused on relationships we've been there done that i just want the Doctor to go back and do what he use to do go to alien planets, fight monsters and Daleks and horror themes and laser guns and so on. I want less of the soap and more sci fi and make the Doctor an alien i don't want the character humanised.
I stopped watching a few years ago because it just got terrible..ill have to check it out and see if they have recovered or are still making garbage and riding on the series past success..
When it comes to entertainment why do american reporters keep asking the wrong questions why cant ask things about the show like what monster will appear or are we expecting Daleks questions like that? Instead asking about propaganda or queer or relationships no one is interested in that.
@@CharlieMarlin If it shifted into a man's shape, it obviously prefers male pronouns. :) Unless you'd advise me to call people what they actually are rather than what they present themselves as.
I wish they wouldn't forget about poor Adric every time they call Millie the "youngest companion ever." Having said that, I'm looking forward to this new series. As far as I'm concerned, Jodie's doctor and all that Chibnall Timeless Child crap is not canon. Never happened.
