Christopher Plummer was right. Fincher absolutely should’ve won both Best Picture and Best Director for The Social Network.

The people who hate David Fincher the most are the boom mic operators.

There is a great bit in an Actors Roundtable where Brian Cox offers a different take on the matter. Which is kind of what Tyler Perry also said. The first 10 takes are about ironing technical stuff and only later on he starts noticing the acting. Which means that rehearsal was not part of the process and they have to find the scene on the day. So it does make sense and I can't imagine how you can do less takes. Look it up.

Funny total contrast to the killer with Michael Fassbender - just one precise take

I can see how it can be taxing for a lot of actors, but I also get being in the editing room and not having what you need/want

I think they all find it tiring (as it must be), but they all seem to respect Fincher’s brilliance even if they don’t love doing a zillion takes

I can understand it being frustrating particularly if you're not the star being paid millions but most reasonable actors would realise that they're incredibly lucky to be appearing in a David Fincher movie because you know chances are it's going to be your legacy in terms of pop culture

Glad none of them ever worked with kubrick.. if they think fincher took too many takes. 😂😂😂

No doubt that Fincher is a master filmmaker, but really, doing a hundred or so takes is way toooooooo much!

Average people do the same repetitive job every day for years and years for low pay. Actors do it for David Fincher for six months, get paid millions of dollars and they hate it. It's Fincher's film with his vision and he knows what he wants. What he doesn't want anything he considers substandard on his resume.

Fincher basically broke Gyllenhaal when filming Zodiac. He's a great director who's too much of a perfectionist. The introduction of great VFX and digital film has exacerbated his issues with doing too many takes.

I love his adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo but his perfectionism did make that movie cost too much to make, which ultimately meant we couldn't get the other movies.
