Connie Neisen (Beck) definitely DOES NOT belong on this list because she in no way replaced the character of Olivia Benson. In fact it was explained why Olivia was absent right from the start (and fans knew why Mariska was absent). The characters were totally different. I do understand that the character was created to play opposite to Stabler but that is by far not the same as replacing an actor to portray the same character. This is a horrible inclusion and I am very disappointed that this was included. Most widley known and profound was the Christine Cagney series of actors, fortunately ending up with Sharon Gless
How people saw Meg Foster as "not feminine enough" is beyond me. What did people expect, a pink gun and chasing someone down a dark alley in 6 inch heels? It was 1982, not 1882!
I didn't hate Beck (Connie Neisen) in SVU. 1 episode "Recall" was my favorite of the Season 8, and so heartbreaking, but I loved when Beck was talking to a victim in French about her trauma.
I can understand the revolving door on the ADA characters in the Law and Order Franchise (across the main three - L & O, Criminal Intent, SVU - not counting Trial by Jury or L & O UK which probably didn't last long enough for a recasting) - but always strong characterisations no matter who played the roles.
The Jill Hennessy switch with her twin was part pure luck and some good forethought by the producers. Rhoda/Valerie Harper is a good example of being too greedy and a bad replacement. If you're not an A-list actor take what you can get, be thankful and bank the money. They called her salary demands bluff, she lost and the show tanked. After that her only "career" was talk show appearances where her sad "3 months to live" turned into 10 long years. I feel bad for that but pity doesn't pay the bills. How can you replace the great Brian Dennehy? That didn't fool anyone. Hating Connie Nielsen is like believing Victor from Days of Our Lives was a real person. Some people need to get out of the house more.
That was rather lame. It consisted mostly of series re-tools of pilots, a few character changes that weren't a surprise and the last one... So, Jill Hennessy had her twin sister 'stand-in' for her while she was unavailable. She wasn't replaced as you may not understand the concept, but replaced is a permanent substitution. Do better Looper.
You forgot. The Pretender. After the show was canceled. They did 2 movies to get closer to the show. In those movies, the brother of the main character was replaced. The actor was a main character in the USA network
I think you’re underestimating most veiwers by claiming we didn’t notice. We just know that what we want usually doesn’t matter to the people who make the decisions (and that sometimes it can’t be helped)
This list didn't really cover what it was supposed to cover - having the actors who portray characters replaced in shows. Casting changes between a pilot and series happens all the time. A whole RU-vid channel could be created just covering that. And times when an actor playing a character is replaced by a different actor playing a _different_ _character_ doesn't even come close to the supposed subject of this list. Hell, that's been done more times than I could count during the 50+ cumulative years of L&O's franchise.
But Traylor Howard getting hate mail for that was a bit irrational. I'm binge watching Mr Monk right now, an hour long show was expensive enough so getting petty about her contract was just so stupid. She had a major part in the show and did it well. What a waste.
Aside from the topic. I always found Monk to be a lie. Tony Shalhoub played a person with OCD. If OCD worked like it did in Monk, than someone with OCD would have 1 symptom cured per week (with every installment in the series.) That means OCD would cure itself in a few years. This does a horrible injustice to those who suffer from OCD.
Wtf why will u send someone hate mail for someone's they play on tv they didn't get to pick how the tv person does n do n act they just play n do what they told
Catch the bad guy in 5 minutes, DNA back in 7, Supreme Court makes it's final decision in 40 minutes and the world's a better place! When NCIS Cleveland comes out you'll know all sanity has been lost. Right now I'm watching the original Hawaii Five O, way ahead of it's time for using Asian actors in 1972 and almost no shooting.
