Yes, the young man in the jeans in the "Make a Wish" video, Taeyong, is the leader of the entire NCT group, not just 127, his subunit. So, you picked up on that--well done!
Fun fact: You know why you see Kpop idols in their dance practices wearing a lot of layers and often what we would think of as street clothes, with jeans and boots, etc -- like we see the NCT-U members wearing in their dance practice videos -- instead of workout wear? One reason is because it helps build up endurance and it conditions their bodies to be able to dance on stage with their stage outfits on and not be affected as much. (They don't wear gym clothes during a performance or concert. :D) Why it looks so effortless on stage and like they hardly even exert themselves or sweat sometimes, is because their body has become used to being dressed in layers as they work hard while wearing tight jeans and heavy shoes, etc. That is why they can perform for more than 3 hours straight and still look and sound, like they just started the concert. (It's the same reason why women who have to dance in heels will practice dancing in heels instead of tennis shoes, etc.) SM Entertainment artists are also known for singing live most of the time and for being able to pull off really intense choreography and still sound flawless the whole time and they can do it for more than 3 hours in concert and still maintain the same level of perfection from beginning to end. That is one of the reasons why SM is recognized as the vocal powerhouse of the Kpop industry. Plus, just imagine, when they hold a concert they perform around 30 songs, so they have to be able to memorize dozens of dances because almost every song has its own choreography. It's kind of like if you spend a lot of time in a sauna, after a while your body gets used to the heat and you can endure more heat for longer periods of time. :D Plus, Kpop dance studios are most often located in the basement of the company and the rooms aren't heated well, so depending on the time of year, the room can be very cold. However, SM Entertainment's main dance studio where NCT-U's "Universe (Let's Play Ball)" dance practice was filmed, and all of SM's dance practices are now filmed, is in SM's new building where EVERYTHING that SM does takes place. Unlike most dance studios, SM's studio is on one of it's upper floors so the windows overlook the city of Seoul, South Korea. As you can see, they have an amazing view with the backdrop of skyscrapers outside the windows. Just so you know, "dance practice" videos aren't really "practice" videos, they are more like choreography/performance videos. They are filmed in their dance studio most of the time and they are "practicing" the dance, but you won't actually see them learning any moves. A company doesn't release a "dance practice" video until an artist or group can perform the dance just like they would in a live performance. These videos are more to showcase the choreography and to demonstrate how good of dancers they are, etc. What you are seeing is exactly how the dance is performed in their MVs and live performances. For SM artists, if you want to see a true practice video, you have to check out "uncut" or "behind the scenes" dance practice videos. NCT are known for pretty much filming all aspects of their lives, so if you check out their dance practice behind the scenes videos, their behind the scenes of the MV shoots and the behind the scenes of recording the songs, you can see raw footage of how everything came together. This will also help you to get to know the members better because they put each of their names in the captions on the videos when they interview them while on set or in the studio. NCT -- which stands for Neo (a pop culture term that means new/original) Culture Technology -- right now as a whole has 5 (6) sub-units -- NCT-U, NCT-127, NCT-Dream, WayV, (DoJaeJung) and NCT-WISH. Therefore, their style is meant to be new and original with elements that embrace different cultures and technologies to create their sound. What you just heard is considered NCT-style, they don't really have a traditional music style that you can attach to them. NCT-U was NCT's first sub-unit, which debuted in April 2016. NCT-U is made up of pretty much all the members, so, they just add and subtract members from all the other sub-units depending on the concept for the song. NCT-U songs span a wide range of styles and genres and can include anywhere for all 25 members or only 1 or 2 members. The U stands for United, but I also like to think of it as Universal because of the way the group never has a fixed number of members. This sub-unit is designed to be fluid, which means the group is constantly changing and rearranging its members. "'90s Love" has 7 members -- Ten (main dancer and lead vocalist), WinWin (lead vocalist and lead dancer) and YangYang (main rapper), who are members of WayV; Jeno (lead/main rapper), who is a member of NCT-Dream; Mark (main rapper and dancer) and Haechan (main vocal and dancer), who are members of NCT-127 and NCT-Dream; and Shungchan (Korean member, lead vocalist and rapper), who is no longer a member of NCT, but now is the co-leader of RIIZE, SM's new boy group. "Make A Wish (Birthday song)" has 7 members -- Taeyong (NCT's leader, main rapper, main dancer), Doyoung (main vocal) and Jaehyun (main vocal, sub-rapper and visual), who are members of NCT-127; Xiaojun (main vocal), who is a member of WayV; Jaemin (lead rapper), who is a member of NCT-Dream; Shotaro (Japanese member, main dancer and vocalist), who is no longer a member of NCT, but is now a member of SM's new boy group RIIZE; and Lucas (Hong Kong member, rapper and visual) who is a former member of WayV and now is an SM solo artist. "Universe (Let's Play Ball)" has 9 members -- Jaemin (lead vocal) and Jeno (main rapper) are from NCT-Dream, Mark (Main rapper and dancer) and Haechan (Main vocal) are also from NCT-Dream and NCT-127, Doyoung (Main vocal) and Jungwoo (Main vocal) are from NCT-127, Xiaojun (Main vocal) and Yangyang (Main rapper) are from WayV and Shotaro (Japanese member, main dancer and vocalist), who is no longer a member of NCT but is now the co-leader of SM's new boy group RIIZE. NCT is a group that is constantly changing and rearranging its members and sound and we never know quite what to expect from them. With a concept that allows the members to rotate between sub-units, changing, adding and subtracting members depending on the concept and style of the group or song, you should never expect the same thing from them. You are better off always expecting something new, that somehow, also ends up sounding very much like NCT. LOL As you are discovering, NCT is one of the most internationally diverse groups in all of Kpop. The members as a whole represent 8 different countries and they speak 7 or 8 different languages. For example, there are 10 native Korean members (*Taeyong, Doyoung, Haechan, *Jaehyun, Jeno, Jaemin, Jisung, Jungwoo, and new members Sion and Daeyoung), *Mark is Korean-Canadian, *Johnny is Korean-American (from Chicago), 5 Japanese members (Yuta and new members Riku, Yushi, Ryo and Sakuya), *Ten is Thai, *YangYang is Taiwanese but he grew up in Germany, Hendery is Chinese from Macau (China) and 5 mainland Chinese members (WinWin, Kun, Xiaojun, Renjun and Chenle). However, they all live and work in Korea, so everyone speaks Korean fluently. Plus, many members have attended international schools or lived abroad, so there are several members who are also *fluent in English, on top of speaking 2 or more other languages.
Thank you for reacting to NCT! It's a big company (about 25 members now) Those members are divided into four "units" (groups) - NCT 127, NCT Dream, WayV, and NCT Wish NCT U, which is what you reacted to, stands for NCT United and is for special projects that can use any number of members from any of the four units, depending on which members fit the concept of the project best. Some NCT U projects have just 2 members!
Thanks for the explaination, we were indeed confused of different memebers during the reacttion, we thought they were the same inside the different songs... but now we understand more, really appriciate your help and support!!
@@EcoArtLounge No problem - NCT can be verrrrrry confusing. LOL but the groups are so interesting. They're my favorites for their creativity, great vocals and they're really funny too. ❤ Oh, and of COURSE their dancing!
Thanks for the background info. I love how they work as a group. There seems to be no ego and everything flows so naturally as a whole. I make lots of theatre and know how hard it us to get a group of people this much in sync. Impressive. They must work 24/7. 😅
@@EcoArtLoungeI recommend watching resonance (2020) this mv showcases all 23 members that were present at that time. You could also watch 1 mv from each nct sub-unit. I recommend: Favourite, (Vampire) - nct 127 Dreaming - nct dream Action figure - wayv Steady - nct wish And although they are not a true subunit, please check out the 7th sense by nct u. This is their debut song and really puts NCTs talent on display.
Thanks for your reaction! You correctly identified Taeyong (the one wearing jeans in Make a Wish) as the leader. In fact, he is the leader not only of NCT 127 but of NCT as a whole, which consists of 25 members total. He is also a main rapper, main dancer, vocalist, center, visual, and face of the group. He is a soloist who writes, composes, and choreographs. In other words, he is a true ACE. He is also a member of a supergroup consisting of select members of various groups called SuperM. I'd love for you to check out his solo work as his music is both creative and diverse. I'll suggest these songs for starters: "Shalala," "Ghost," and "Moon Tour." Of course, I really hope you continue to check out more NCT songs too. I'll recommend NCT U's "Baby Don't Stop" and NCT 127's "Kick It." Thank you so much! Really enjoyed your reaction!
They do release actual rehearsal footage as well, showing the process of learning and perfecting choreo (as well as studio footage showing them recording the album) The dance practice vids are like a dress rehersal where you go all out and try and run it from beginning to end with no mistakes : doesn't always happen of course :D
They are crazy right ! Lol I think you guys should react to all nct members dancing in one song haha such a 'black on black' 18 members and 'resonance' 23 members , and in 2024 the new group nct wish are added to the nct world .. i mean i don't remembers how many of them now haha NCT is under SM Entertainment. I love all SM groups. Their quality is good, SM's programs are also good. Their training programs are also crazy, they are required to have stable vocals with dancing at the same time, and each group might have different programs for that but for example they sing while on a treadmill, or sing while running at the same time, so yeah I hope i can see your another reaction of nct :)
