Vaikom Narayani Janaki (23 September 1924 - 19 May 1996), also known as Janaki Ramachandran was an Indian politician, Actress and Activist who served as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu for 23 days and president of AIADMK after the death of her husband M. G. Ramachandran popularly known as MGR, former chief minister of Tamil Nadu and President of AIADMK. Janaki was the first woman to become the chief minister of Tamil Nadu. Also she was the first actress to become the chief minister of the state in the history of India.
