I appreciate this insight, I think many believers struggle to understand these questions regarding prayer. I remember as a child reading the verse about having faith as small as a mustard seed and being able to move mountains. I sat in the bathroom for a very long time, trying to move a towel by my faith. 😂 Fast forward many years and I’ve read many books about prayer including Timothy Keller’s which is very good. Still though, there is mystery to it. For I instance, on the voice of the martyrs daily app I pray for different people around the world each day. Sometimes it shows that 2000 or more people have prayed for one situation. Surely we’ve reached critical mass there for movement… well, it’s hard to say. I fall back on the truths that I know for sure. God tells us to pray, and says that prayer is powerful. And it is a tremendous privilege to communicate with the great God of the universe, a privilege we cannot neglect. God will do what is right as we obey and are faithful to pray!
I heard the gospel and was born again in my hyper-faith church...but most other teaching beyond that Biblical salvation message was pure error, and I eventually left. I find myself wrestling with the "ask and you shall receive" verses. Your message here provides the answers I'm looking for. Thank you! Bless you, Pastor. 😊
I got saved that way too. But felt Led by the Lord not to continue in the hyper-faith as well. I was not going to church, but through TV alone in my room with the Lord, got me on my knees and started to pray with the pastor on TV. The Holy Spirit is a helper, indeed . Thanks be to Jesus.😁
Thank you Pastor Paul. This chapter is important as a believer and it has helped a lot after your teaching/explanation: hyper faith vs True Faith. Brain cramp precaution = Always fall back on what we do know: Pray.
Once again a mighty lesson. Prayer does make a difference. I can remember praying to find a bible teacher and i can say david pawson, derek prince and now paul Leboutillier thank you. May you and family be continually blessed.
We taught children in our church to have us write down prayers for them. Most were basic prayers for family. The next week we would check to see how God answered those prayers, we were amazed at the answered prayers. Teach them young
I'm praying for you, Sue and your family. I enjoy all your bible lessons especially Sue's women's bible studies. You both have so much love for God and for his people. You truly are in my prayers.
Fantastic words. We can lay our requests at his feet but we must trust him no matter the outcome. Our medically ill child might die before us. Hard to know what to pray at times when she suffers. Fix her…help me cope… take her Lord to stop the suffering… bless me with more faith and I will praise Him no matter the outcome. He has set this before us and we trust Him❤
The Lord always gives me more from your teaching than I would gain just from the reading of it Pastor.... now when I read it in the bible I have more understanding ...it comes alive. Thank you LORD and thank you Pastor and GOD bless you and yours till HE comes. Gilly wife of Mark
What if God's sovereign purpose was for James to die so that those left behind would be compelled to pray for Peter when he was arrested? You can't say James died maybe because they hadn't been praying. That implies the act of prayer itself is what saved him. That's magical thinking. ("if I pray it and say it THIS way... God will honor me with a positive outcome"...which is the essence of the word of faith movement ...and witchcraft.) Sometimes people die and terrible things happen, even when you've been praying for God's intervention. God is still on the throne and always will be and is worthy of praise and honor whether or not my deepest heartfelt prayers are ever answered the way I'd like them to be. Still, I pray because I need to talk to and listen to the only one who really knows anything about anything and knows my heart better than I do and will tell me what I need to know about it all.
