Just passed mine, first time thankfully. My instructor said think like you're a limo driver driving a VIP, you want it to be a smooth drive with smooth accelerating and braking. During the test I didn't look at the instructor once and didn't make any general convo, I treated them like google maps giving me directions and I wasn't nervous at all during the test. As others have said, exaggerate head checks and just take your time with everything.

To all those who will test please exaggerate your head checks because the tester might miss it. They said I didn't do head check before turning but I did. Second mistake, was my mistake. Asked me to pull up to the curb for stage one, signalled and I failed because I didn't wait at least 3 seconds after signalling before pulling to the curb. Please learn from me edit2: I had completely forgotten about this comment. But I am glad to say that I passed! Number one tip given to me:Think as if you are driving with someone you love. Make the trip safe. Don't think that you're being tested. Focus on making the drive safely and efficiently. In the end, you and the driver's goal is to make it home safely. it helped me
@@nikomangmonarosita6894 I have an overseas license. Since I failed my test, I can't use that license to legally drive. I can still book my driving test but I can't do it solo (must have someone to drive you to vicroads). You don't have to do the Learner's and the hazard's. But I will have to get a Learner's permit (and wait for 3 months to book a driving test) so I could drive legally.
From a commercial driver, very smooth driving, excellent and clear instructions from the tester. Only point I would like to bring up, and I hope the tester mentioned this after the drive, use your indicator, but don’t wear it out. If you are turning into a turning lane, and there is multiple driveways along that turn section, indicate to enter the turn lane, then turn the indicator off until closer to the actual turn, so less skilled drivers don’t think you are turning into one of the driveways and go to pass you. This “Correct” distancing will come to you with experience. Nice move asking if you could reverse park at the end, as the tester hadn’t asked you to do one. This shows initiative, and ticks all the boxes of a test scenario. I’m glad they didn’t ask you to do a three point turn line I had to do decades ago, as there is no harm in going around a block to go the other way. It’s also safer, and less potential to obstruct traffic.
Hi thanks for the tips. I actually used my indicators earlier during the test to avoid failing due to late signalling. I'll take note of that on my day to day driving 😊 I actually did a three point turn anw on 9:25. Really appreciate your feedback!
@@kageroboi Good thinking. I assumed that is why you did it. In the long run, more warning is better than late warning. So many people get into the habit of hitting the indicators as they turn or change lanes. Not a good habit when sharing the roads with trucks. I highly approve of your smooth driving. Keep it up, and you will likely be ignored by bored cops. 🤣

reminiscing on my actual driving test 2 years ago same route. Wasn’t as good as you.. it feels like I’m gonna have a heart attack as I’m waiting for the next instruction.🤣but happy I passed. Congratulations. Thanks for sharing and have a safe driving.
In my driving test years ago I did reverse parallel park between cones. He said make the car safe so park, handbrake etc. sat there for a minute, then told to pull out and drive back to testing centre. In that pause, I lost a point. I couldn’t believe it. Sitting there in park with handbrake on, I had my foot on the brake. I lost a point for unnecessary wear and tear on the brake lights!!!! 🤦♂️

Wish my examiner was like this. The examiner I got for my VORT was some old Italian guy with a thick accent and nearly failed me because I "wasn't listening" when in reality I couldn't understand what he was saying half of the time. I still passed, managed to scrape through with a score of 91%.
I know you've heard this a lot, but it's really good to see someone has shown a video of what the test is really like. I have mine tomorrow and the nerves are creeping in, mainly due to not knowing what to expect. I only just learnt yesterday Vicroads don't provide the cars and you bring your own... and that the reverse park is a reverse parallel park and not into a square parking lot. Well... I failed in a school zone. Apparently everything else was a okay, but on the last set of lights I apparently went 50 in a school zone... I swear on my mum, my dog and all of my friends there was no "flashing red lights" or else my glasses would've glared them and I wouldn't have missed them. My dashcam doesn't seem to have captured the drive but I'll insist until the day I die there was no school zone
@@stephenpodgorski2807 not all school zones have flashing red lights, you should've known it was school zone hours and not have relied on the flashing red lights.
Just let you all know that the instructor even if the made a mistake in directing you 8:48 you should expect a distraction from passengers and you need to show them you're in control of the situation. stay calm and in control you will be a good safe driver. I would like instructors to deliberately give you false direction like turn right at a no right turn, or go through a No entry sign, or even make a u turn on an unbroken line to test your skills. as a driver you should follow direction of instructor if it's safe and legal. ignore everything else. because a lot of accidents occur from passengers who give directions. otherwise it was a good driving test I must say. you're relaxed, friendly, and smooth. I can tell by the camera and your conversation with the instructor.
First 10 mins were in the factory area beside vic roads, then they took me to the residential area across the road, and then the road around vicroads. That's it, we didn't go too far or on gippsland hwy.
Great driving! But like other commenters said, you indicate incredibly early to the point it can confuse other drivers. When I was learning, I was always told to start indicating two houses away. Assuming you'll be on your Green P's now and have nailed all this already though. Awesome job :D
@@scottyboyinoz8688 It was really happy, and the instructor, a lady, was pretty patient and her instruction was very clear. The route was easy to me that I drove 35 min. It was rush hour and raining , so the most of the time was in residential areas, and main road traffic was very slow my speed was not even over 50. Overall, it was not as terrible as I expected. Take it easy, you will be fine. Good luck to yours!!
I’m about to throw up because my driving test is next week at Ringwood and I’m terrified 😭 just hoping I pass because I’m sick of not being able to drive. Thank you for the video! Somehow, it helped me calm my nerves a little.

Very good smooth driving. I would indicate a bit later when approaching a turn. You will confuse drivers coming out from the driveways. Also, when moving in to a turning lane, indicate and then once in the lane, turn off the indicator and put it back on to execute the turn. Other than that all good.
I have my test in a month or two but ironically I am a motorcycle instructor in melbourne haha! I now understand how nervous my students must feel!! Hopefully I pass but I will take the same approach that I tell my students to take, if I fail then it is because I was not safe and hopefully the feedback I am given will allow me to fix it and then pass when I am safer, if I pass then hopefully I am safe :) Good video, I am shocked they let you record as during our assessments students are not allowed photos or videos haha.

Good luck! I was also nervous before the drive test but dont let it affect your driving awareness. Keep calm, dont panic and dont rush. They dont mark your driving based on how fast you're going. You just need to drive as safe as you can 😊 so take your time

Good Luck and drive safe ! Try to indicate your signals just before the turnings, not 2, 3 lanes before the turning lane please, you might confuse other drivers on the road.
Correct me if I’m wrong: At 19:35 he stopped behind the pedestrian crossing and remained stopped until the red lights turned green, but those traffic lights that he was obeying to are not meant to affect the left turning traffic (his line), they are meant for the 2 lines turning right, so instead of waiting for lights, he should had slowly moved up to the giveaway line and simply turn left when safe to do so.
You are right. But anyway, I was not waiting for the light to turn green, I was just waiting for the traffic to clear and if you see it again I have started moving before the light turned green. The reason I stayed far behind the pedestrian crossing is because if I stopped right before the give way sign, half end of my car would probably still on the pedestrian crossing. And if pedestrians suddenly appeared out of nowhere , I may obstruct their way to cross the road and I don't want this tiny thing to affect the marking of my driving test. I just tried to drive as safe as I can during the test.

It was harder to book for a knowledge test actually. I booked the driving test right after they re-open bookings after covid break. The earliest ones were in 6-8 weeks and Dandenong was one of the earliest i could book.

@@kageroboi In terms of what I thought I was doing wrong it's how I approach the pedestrian crossing in a slip lane. At 19:37 you can see you stop short of the pedestrian crossing. I've seen another person/learner do the same. When I tried that recently (always willing to learn) I found I wasn't able to see the cars for the cross traffic so it wasn't safe. What I do is approach the pedestrian crossing, give way if there's anyone waiting to cross and then proceed slowly to where the road crosses, checking to see if there's any cars coming and give way to all cars. If there's no one at the pedestrian crossing I continue to drive and stop at the crossing road and that means I'm often over the pedestrian crossing when giving way to traffic. After reading information on the VicRoad's site I believe my approach is right so not wrong as I thought. You can move forward over the pedestrian crossing area to better view the traffic (of course giving way to pedestrians if they're there). I still need to check the actual laws as it's the law that matters, not necessarily what VicRoads writes on their site. By the way you should be proud of yourself. In your video you drove well, confidently and asked questions of the instructor and only once did the instructor not give further information as they were testing your judgement. When I was tested the instructor sat in the back and when performing a reverse parallel park obscured my view making it harder for me. Instructors seem much better now and that was good to see. @@kelvineldridge Exactly! It's not wrong to be stopping on the pedestrian crossing as long as we're not blocking any pedestrians / cyclists. In my daily driving I do the same thing as you do. Stopping behind the pedestrian crossing sometimes gives the view a bit too far and our view might have been blocked by some street sign poles / traffic light poles / pedestrians, which is also unsafe. However on the drive test itself I try to be less flexible and more stick to the rule as I dont want to be bothered failing the test. Thanks for sharing!
@@kageroboi Yes, best to pass the test and over compensate. E.g. people often exaggerate head movements so the tester knows you're doing all the right checks. I also posted a link to the map which RU-vid or yourself may have rejected. That's OK. I built the map as it interested me. One more thing I learnt from my/your comments I thought I'd share in case it helps, is I couldn't find the comment I made. Quite perplexing. The comment appeared quite a long way done the comments. Comment order is by default by "Top" whatever that means. I prefer latest first as the most recent to me is more relevant. I'll review that settings on my RU-vid videos. To see the first comments from a year ago looks like there's no current interest in the video. There's also a Sort option I can use on each public RU-vid video which I didn't notice and will now use as well. Always learning. Thanks.
Hi, thanks for sharing the video with us. I have one questions, 19:53 when you were going to turn left, you parked your car after the zebra crossing, can you see the oncoming vehicles from your left? as I have known, we can stop our car along the line if there is no pedestrians.
Hi, the oncoming vehicles are from my right so i just make sure left side is free from bikes and pedestrians. Yes we can stop on the zebra cross however i didn't know how long will i have to wait there until it's safe for me to merge. Im afraid if i stop on the zebra cross someone suddenly pops up would like to cross and im blocking their way, i think it's best to prevent that situation happening.
I have my test today in Pakenham, I live in dandenong but did test there due to covid restrictions, i hope I pass , as I’m international driver license holder . Wish me luck buddy

haha I just had my first driving lesson today, after 20 mins I was able to generally steer the car and control the pedals by myself. Hopefully I will learn reversing and parking etc in the coming few lessons, before practising my 120 hours!
Wow that was a super easy drive test and the Vicroads tester was overly helpful on numerous occasions (especially with the turns and advising on speeds). This guy who passed it here will definitely find it daunting to drive in more built up areas/places closer to the city with a lot more road rules/pedestrians/traffic to watch out for.
Just a word of warning - if people use this test as a benchmark, you might set yourself up for failure. Again, ridiculously easy with a ridiculously helpful tester.
If this is an example of a typical Vic Roads driving test then anyone with a basic understanding of road rules and head checks driving automatic should pass first go each time. Most of the turns were left turns, there were no rights turns that were actually busy requiring skill. The one that was you get to wait in the middle. There were no right turns at lights without green arrows. Unfortunately we didn't get to see if the test applicant was doing any head checks. The testing officer also was telling the test applicant what the speed limit was. Alot of the roads were devoid of traffic but this could have been due to Covid lock downs.
What a easy test! I passed in UK 2 months ago , but is more harder, examiner will not tell you the speed limit ever and on which line should you be.The whole test is 40 minutes, 20 minutes is independent driving, this could be follow sat nav or follow signs, and 20 minutes the examiner will direct you
They usually don't tell it here either, but you can get an easy assessor (this) or a ridiculously strict one. I had both, it makes a lot of difference lol. And the test differs from state to state. I think this is easy too.
Dont let your nervousness affect your driving. Keep calm :) practice and learn difficult scenarios. Dont rush as they dont see how quick youre driving, they just want to see how safe youre driving.
@@Hala-yr5oc hello the route was just around the industrial area. Not a busy route so was good. Just practice the reverse parking that’s the most important. My driving instructor was with me as I used his car so it helped me 😆
I’ve got two weeks til mine; I’m so nervous. My gf doesn’t know I’m taking it and if I pass I’m picking her up from work as a surprise. I think the most nerve racking thing about failing is how long it’s going to take to get another test due to covid.. :(
@@TheDandogable ah yeah! They're very busy now since they postpone everyone's test due to the pandemic. I hope you pass your test, dont worry too much and dont try to drive quick, all you need is to drive as safe as possible.
Actually I kinda regretted when I first booked my drive test at Dandenong, I booked there just because they had the earliest available drive test. I am not familiar with the route tho I have never been there before 😂 Also tried to look for videos on youtube but none were in Dandenong. How was your drive test anyway? It must be super packed!
Yes I was blessed to have her as my testing officer! However if you miss the turn please don't worry and don't make sudden braking / turns. You're being tested from how safe you're driving.
@@kageroboi do they check both eyes or both together? Cause I left my glasses overseas my right eye is 20/20 vision left not bad it’s just decent. I see rlly well regardless. Hopefully it’s not a hard single eye test.
@@ace_stealth251ace9 Both at a time. Well you just need to tell the officer the small alphabets sticking on the wall behind him. If you cant tell him the correct ones then I dont think you'll be able to pass the eye test. Its around 3-5 meters away from where you stand :)
They only do reverse park or 3 point turn because they care more about your mechanical skills and head checks (Since they both require similar techniques)
I must cam here to watch a you tube, My daughter is going for her driving test, she watched a small portion of this video, I had to hit play and see where we come to in the 20th centaury. back 35 years a go i remember my driving instructor put $20 in the glove box for the assessor. didn't know anything about it and thought this is a fee. until I asked why? he said even if you didn't do a mistake and 100% pass he will fail you if you didn't give them a tip. that's what he called it anyway.
Did the driver of the vehicle comply with Australian Road Rules - Regulation 33 (3)(a) "passes as near as practicable to the right of the centre of the intersection"? See 16:11 in the video.
That regulation is basically another way of saying that oncoming vehicles that are turning right should pass each other nearside-to-nearside (as opposed to offside-to-offside as done in some European countries). In any case, this regulation does not apply anyway as the intersection has marked turning lines.
