I think it's because I've developed a mindset for how these games are supposed to be approached, well, one of the potential ways to approach them I'll say. Granted, I'm only really experienced with DS3, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring, and only loosely experienced with all the other games, so I might be ill informed. From what I've come to understand, combat is centered around only a few aspects, that are pretty much present in every fight. Observing, timing, spacing, and keeping your cool. Observing is kind of all encompassing. Basically it boils down to learning their move set. What I like to do if my first few attempts on a boss aren't going well, is to just dodge, no attacking. Learn their combos,, so anything, at least in phase 1, no longer becomes a surprise. That's the timing aspect of it basically, by only playing defensively for say... 2-5 minutes, or 2-5 attempts, you'll be doing a good amount of training for when you actually want to fight back. Adding on to that. you got spacing. Know your range, know their range. There's a reason I prefer weapons that can thrust as well as slash. A good poke after a roll or as a strong attack can go a long way if the enemy has to close the distance a bit more before they can attack you. Also, the enemy likely has moves that they'll mainly use at certain ranges, maybe projectiles, or dash attacks, something of the sort. I've found that those attacks are usually easier to dodge, so if I ever need a heal, getting some distance, and dodging what ever ranged attack they throw out AND THEN healing, usually works out. Ah, another thing with timing, just because you can dodge it, doesn't mean you can punish it, or, punish it consistently. Different weapons have different levels of speed, and sometimes bosses just won't stop attacking, or they'll throw out another unexpected hit after a combo you thought you knew was over. Also, always be cautious of delayed attacks, watch their body and dodge when you're sure that attack is coming, not just because the first 2 attacks in a combo came at the same speed. Right, yes, and keeping your cool. Basically just don't be greedy. Even if they're at low health. Even if YOU'RE at low health. if you know their move set, wait for a good moment to heal, dodge normally, don't panic roll. If you need to take a deep breath before or during a fight, or after a fight you died in, mid fight cutscenes are also a good time to do that. Another way I keep myself cool is by listening to my own music while fighting, whatever songs on spotify I feel like listening to. That's usually after a good number of attempts tho, because I do really like the music in these games. Uh yeah, that's really general stuff, and I could go into more into depth I guess. If you have any questions feel free to ask. if not, hoped this helped.

@@malroods1727 I started on DS3 so after completing that twice I moved to ds1 and changing the pacing really helped me cope, things are more telegraphed and slower and having patience like you say to tell what they're going to do makes things quite easy. And being greedy is normally the way I die haha or going for an estus when I should dodge but even with all that i wouldn't have got through the lothric fight easily
