Apparently the script began life as Scary Movie 4, but got turned into its own film after the producers realised they weren't actually spoofing any horror flicks. Additionally, the original premise was to have featured a team of superheroes instead of just Dragonfly (making it a parody of Fantastic Four).

Fun fact: Drake Bell, the main actor in this film actually voiced Spider-Man in the cartoon “Ultimate Spider-Man” and he actually did a really good job voicing Spidey and Peter Parker. He was the voice for Spidey all 4 seasons during the shows run 😉 So he actually can do super heroes well 😎

Drake Bell's Ultimate Spider-Man was a joke and still can't beat Josh Keaton's Spectacular Spider-Man. Josh got to appear in Across the Spider-Verse. Drake got to appear in court.
