Good eye my boy.. what's even more crazier is that the McLaren F1 wouldn't even have missed a BMW engine if Honda had agreed to build an engine instead. I just wish Senna would have been around long enough for us to have some record of him really driving the piss out of that McLaren F1. that I'm sure he would have owned a couple of by now. Or right after they came out... Getting off my soapbox
I was shook when I learned Gordon Murray originally wanted Honda to build the engine for the F1. Imagine. Honda going through with it and we'd have an F1 with VTEC in it lmfao. Maybe. Though Honda even today I don't think has ever put in an engine in a production car bigger than a V6, let alone doing it in the early 90s for a car that would become the fastest production car in the world for like over a decade or so
It's inexcusable for a manufacturer, with all resources available to them and no shortage of smart people, to think that it was a good idea to make the car look nothing like the original.... especially since the appearance was the main feature that attracted people to it.
They could have taken a 90's NSX and mildly modernized a few parts of the body and the interior, given it a turbo v6 and sold way more cars for way less $$ , and gained respect from car enthusiasts everywhere. We're the ones that dictate what's cool and what's not (aka sales), the manufacturer doesn't have that power.
Nick Kautz no haha. It’s not like they have old NSX parts laying around they would have to remake everything which would be kinda backwards. They should’ve made an all aluminum body designed by pininfarina, turbo v6 mid engine layout, with a dual clutch to go up against the new Corvette. That way they can reintroduce a S2000 successor with the Type R engine, rwd and a manual to go up against the 40 grand sports cars.
@@MaddNomad1015 That's similar to what I was thinking but in my imagination they still had the tooling programs for nsx production, so it would have been cheaper and easier to piggyback off of the old car. I have one right in front of me , the chassis is nicer than some new cars.
@DFB58 Even in stock form the huracan has a few more horses than the nsx however because electric motors do not have to warm up, they provide instant torque. It doesnt have much to do with forced induction. There's a saying that gors horsepower sells cars but torque wins races.
@@crankybear1236 Yes, it can beat Huracan, but only in launch start, or on very short straight. Huracan is much lighter, has better suspension, better chassis, better braking, more powerful engine...It will beat nsx in just about everything else.
@@arkham7694 Again, electric motors do not have to warm up which means instant torque at all times which is why the nsx beats the huracan despite being heavier.
Ok honestly the new NSX is beautiful and is 100% an absolute beast of a car and I have no idea why people hate it so much. Nothing is ever as good as the original but the new one is just.. amazing.
That's why. If it was called something new like RH2 or something, it would be more appreciated. Kinda like the new supra. It just isn't like the old one, so why taint the name
It’s a cool car, but not an NSX. The A90 Supra has the same spirit as the old ones, but the new NSX is just a new Acura super car. It would’ve been better to call it anything else except for NSX.
@@ADMONIUS Well, the Supra evolved too. And every time they looked different. That supercar deserves the NSX name because it does match up with its legacy. No matter its difference.
Respect. Things that no one talks about with the NSX that you did: Bobby Rahal, Satoru Nakajima, and the Compliance Pivot....no one talks about the Compliance Pivot.
Own the 22nd NSX in the US, 4th owner. The original owner paid 22K over list, 83K. A lot of money even now. Have the NSX cell phone, looks like a home wall phone. Trivia, aluminum jack.
When i was 17 looking for my first car, my dad told me not to buy an e36, and i was taking his advice to buy a cheaper car, so as i was riding on the freeway i saw an Acura, a great looking one. It was an NSX and i didnt know avout their reputation, and i was like, “Hey dad is that one cheap?” He said “No way.” Good times.
Many are not a fan of the design or the idea of the new NSX. But truthfully it’s still an amazing super car that’s cheaper and does have the technology of the future. I’m excited for Acura. The Type S coming back, and the new RDX is amazing. Glad to see Acura back in the game.
alex martens As James May put it “The original NSX made the super car useable and affordable, the new one did the same with the hybrid super car” Really, really annoyed they didn’t spend more time on the new one (seems like they are a bit more 90s Japan fanboys)
302 Racing I mean they spent what seems like years to create a second from when they released the idea they were actually doing it. I think the part they’re missing is the affordable to fix and “everyday” driver.
The NSX is my favorite car hands down. It's driving perfection. Even when the competition had more power, it still owned them. Thank you for the video.
Well-made video with lots of good NSX info. The video did mention that for 1997 and up, a 3.2L engine with 290HP was added; however, it would have also been prudent to mention the added torque and most importantly, the 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION (with revised gearing which better utilized the powerband of the engine) as opposed to the original 5 speed.
I am a classic Honda lover. I have a 1990 CRX, 2000 Prelude and 2004 Accord V6 and I just recently picked up a 1991 NSX. The G1 NSX is the most ultimate Honda/Acura car ever made.
There's a documentary on RU-vid that covers the whole LFA production. From the plant it was made, to how the engine was turned and everything else. ✔✔✔
You guys should make an episode about the Honda Insight. Sure, it's not a super fast sports car, but the original generation was an incredible purpose-built car that was really freaking impressive for it's time, and much like the NSX, was made entirely out of aluminum. Plus, my daily is an 01 Insight so making an episode would make me happy and I think that should be reason enough.
Jakob Lindholm r/lostredditors Choosingbeggars is when people ask for something free for exposure or some other weird crap instead of paying for it.This is just a request.
Completely agree. After the Prius became a big hit, people forgot that Honda was the innovator in Hybrid technology. I loved the original 2-seater Insight. It looks like a spaceship.
The new nsx is an objective improvement over the old one in nearly every aspect and uses tech that gets compared to other hybrid supercars like the Porsche 918. Except it's like also 1/10th of the price
"What goood... is to have anawesome car..... IFUDONEVENDRIVEITEVERYDA!!" Fell off my donkey there LMFAO. I watch this one everyday, I gotta. HAYAH! #unknownvariable
I am of the same mind, but if you've ever seen one and heard them in person...they're a THOUSAND times more worth it. It's heavy as shit, but it looks so small up close.
New NSX gets lots of "disappointment" I'll say (not hate persay), but I still very much like what the new NSX is. I don't mind it bearing no resemblance to the old NSX, as amazing as that car was. I will say that the new NSX has much stiffer competition to deal with as some European supercars are roughly equal or even higher in performance, and their reliability has improved since the time of the old NSX. maybe it's just me being a Honda fanboy at this point (I'm sorry), but I'd probably take the new NSX over some other supercars of today because of its already low sales (no waiting list bois), and just as a screw you to people who'd tell me "you could've gotten a Huracan bro". Kinda like how I'd take a Viper over a Corvette lmao
The 2022 NSX Type S was first presented with an Acura badge in early August. At the time, the Japanese automaker announced that worldwide production would be capped at just 350 units. And the NSX taken to Laps Suzuka Circuit in Japan 2-seconds faster than the 2021 NSX .
It’s 2017, I just got done with a closing shift at 10:30 and had to stop by the local gas station to get fuel. I’m barely awake but just enough to get fuel and drive home. Then at the side of my eye I see it. Beautiful styling, horizontal taillights, a dual exhaust, and a bright red paint. The whole drive home I was wondering what kind of car it was, because I didn’t care about cars then. Then after the full day of searching I found this video. This video revealed what car I saw and how cool it is. This video and this car is what got me into cars, and to this day is my dream car. To me it is the perfect car and the reason why I love cars.
