The first race was the best one! Even reactions of the drivers. I remember the NA C6 Z06 with 505hp usually did 11.8 at the 1/4 mile tests (not drag strips) so the 495hp but with DCT trans is about right.
You have to remember though that these time should not be written in stone where I am in Maryland these cars probably run a lot better Heat and altitude make a big difference.
Thanks for sharing. I just started shopping NSX’s and it’s nice to see some real world action with the bolt on mods on this car. I’ve done major builds in the past but want something that requires less mods to run 10’s and is still reliable.
@@autodreams114 I may not have a choice if I go with orange. I think some colors were only available 2019+. Colors I would consider are white, yellow, orange. Leaning most towards white or yellow. I like the painted beak as well. I may need a 2019+ for that. Any suggestions on years?
@@autodreams114 yeah and I think the yellow was introduced in 2020. I am amazed at the low sales numbers. I guess people in this segment gravitate towards the more flashy and exotic Italian cars. Red is a bit cliche for a sports car so I typically avoid it. I need to see the orange in person. Thanks for the input.
Is faster because of the electric motors, now compare it to the current 2023 Z06 nsx will be eating dust. BTW nsx for it's price point is not so much loaded with features compare to the C8 and NSX interior is just too cheaply build with a lot of soft and hard plastic and it cost 160k compare it with the 2021-2022 C8 models it's just too premium and loaded with features very high-tech amd you can even add more stuff on it for a decent price if 80-90K. C8 is a bargain while NSX a hybrid system isn't just not worth it. Now with the 2023 Z06 it will trash both NSX and NSX Type S no doubt, a NA Flat Plane Crank V8 delivering 670HP and redline RPM of 8600RPM no 1 will notice that 2022 NSX Type S.

The NSX is not a drag car and was never intended to be. It's 0-60mph times only serves as an exhibition to the hybrid system. What you get for the extra $75K is a JNC1 race motor built by Cosworth and Honda Performance Development that can withstand 24 hours and 762 laps at Daytona right off the showroom floor, a car with an extremely low production number giving it exclusivity, Honda reliability, a car that can outperform many super cars twice it's MSRP, both on road course as well as the drag strip, better fuel economy, more comfortable seating for longer commutes, 3 electric motors that can run the car on pure electric for 15-20 miles and that are self regenerating (no plug in charging required). Last I checked to get this kind of tech in a super car required spending over $1M i.e. LaFerrari, 918 Spyder and P1. The C8 from day one in the hands of new customers have blown axles simply launching the car bone stock at drag strips, broken valve springs, CEL warning lights for "Rear Axle Off, Check Traction Control and ESC" among various other complaints from hundreds on the Corvette forums who have these C8's. Guess how many issues and CEL's the NC1 NSX have? 1. I had a window regulator on the passenger side go out that's it. Other than that, I have put 18,000 miles on mine fully modded and tuned running straight 100 octane race gas for the past year. I have drag raced, road course, rallies and canyon runs with very spirited driving and in temps in excess of 115 degrees without a single electrical or mechanical issue and no CEL warnings. Now with the release of the 2022 NSX Type-S and the announcement that the NC1 NSX will be discontinued after 2022 watch how fast these 2017-2022 NSX go up in value. Meanwhile, many will be trading in their C8's after dealing with issue after issue and the values will plummet since it's a GM product that mass produces their parts in Mexico. LMAO
By Kyle’s standard, he should buy a ‘90s Civic & drop a heavily boosted K engine in it...for a lot less $$ than the C8. There are such Civics running the 1/4 in 10 sec. Clearly the NSX is the superior machine. Spend another $5k for an installed JB4 module & exhaust to get mid 10 sec quarter & 0-60 in 2.6 times.
i have only seen one C8 even run under 3 seconds 0-60, the numbers chevy gave must have been bullshit, they now claim the new C8 Z06 is 2.6 seconds 0-60 and they said the same thing about the C8 Z51, so we can assume the Z06 will barely be under 3 seconds, and the best they have ever run is a 2.6 after hundreds of test launches, the average will be higher of course
@@jamespatterson2002 i agree. It's definitely a higher quality vehicle but the fact that I don't have to have a 400k salary to own a car that has similar performance is really cool.
As someone that has a C8 on order I have to say the NSX just looks sexier. Even though all mid engined cars have the same general look, the proportions and aggressiveness of the NSX make the C8 look a little bit frumpy 🤔 Oh well, I didn’t buy it for it’s looks the car is still an amazing value
@@chriskolaska897 yes, i'm aware of that, i'm just saying that nsx is underrated... Why is it too advance for it's time? This car launched when hybrid supercar is not really a thing, or let's say not common especially for it's price. Sure it's expensive, but this one gives the owner the experience of owning a high tech hybrid supercar for less than what the euro offer... But that's my opinion...
@@danielanju960 i can see where your coming from and that's cool. Now while it is a pretty bad ass car i would have to disagree on being ahead of it's time. I'd have to say the C8 is more advanced then the NSX and it's still cheaper as well. At 173K I'd except more performance and features yet the C8 offers everything the NSX does for much less.
Stock Corvette launches really good for stock and base model! When the ZO6 debuts it's gonna be epic numbers you just watch! Love both cars but the C8 just has that panache that something different!
Wonder what the z06 c8 Is gonna run. Heard 10.6. I love nsx and corvette. 2 best cars I’ve ever owned. I owned over 50 different race cars and those 2 where my favourite. I always go back and fourth on them.
Twin Turbos are no push over. That NSX looks and performs great. It's closer rival is the C8 Z06 though. Under matched with any base Vette. Both are beautiful. 👍
No offense to the C8 driver, but he needs work. Race #1 was the only legit race. Race #2, C8 jumped. Race #3 jumped... And Race #1 NSX had tuned on.... However, C8 in stock form seems to be a high 10s car, which on theory is slower than the NSX even in stock form. Thx for the video...
The car has launch control and a DCT that shifts automatically, none of that is influenced by the driver. Also, leaving late does not affect the ET for the quarter in which case the C8 lost every time. The C8 is a low-mid 11s car, not a high 10s car. There may be one unicorn that got a 10.9 on a perfect night but the overwhelming majority of cars are just like the one in this video.
So the JB4 drops the 1/4 miles from 11.2 to 10.8 sec. That's what I've been seeing around the web. Add downpipes and exhaust and it drops to 10.6 with 93 octane.
It is evident that the C8 Z51 has downforce that significantly holds it back some while approaching the traps. It appears that many of us are not aware. Most of the non-z51s are trapping much higher even with a better ET. 126 I have seen so far. The best on video of a Z51 is 11.19@121 with almost perfect conditions. Having said that, you can't win race against a car like that with a 117 trap speed

The stock C8's fastest Dragy time is 11.98. Thats after thousands of uploads. This one is either a home made twin turbo, or possibly a slightly downhill track, as all run in their downhill direction. The C8 verifies 4.14/11.98.

@@jgizzy it kinda does because we're talking both brand new cars with similar features. It would be another thing if the nsx offered alot more in terms of comfort or something else but it doesn't.
The nsx is known for being quicker than expected, And it is a sweet ride. But unfortunately its price point, although not bad in reality, is undone by the price point of the c8, which is only currently in its base form. The nsx will only see marginal upgrades in its life span. while the C8 will see the forthcoming z06 , zr1 hybrid electric, and zora all electric. The nsx is sweet, and it is a collectible, but youd have to want it-want it to be shelling out well over twice that of a C8. The nsx will be rare'r on the road, good, its interior... hmm better materials but not as advanced as the c8. I think the nsx couldve been far cheaper in price. maybe not c8 level cheap, but 110k max.
Dude, you can buy an nsx for 120, I haven't seen a vette listed below 100. That's far from twice the cost. Double the car imo. You'd have to be high to buy a c8 over an nsx.
Gotta pay to play same with the gtr almost any super car because of tuning obviously people buying the nsx and gtr don’t care and could get something faster

It’s a drag race. On the coarse where the car really shines it beats the nsx all up and down the track especially Laguna Segway times by 3 total seconds. It’s not a drag car but it performs very decent for it regardless it doesn’t have twin turbo and an electric motor
@@thenotoriousc8846 It doesn't have electric motors or twin turbos but it has the same amount of torque coming from it's 6.2l V8 opposed to a 3.5l V6 and it weighs some 200kg less so it has more torque pr tonn but less hp pr tonn, they are actually fairly evenly matched. And I don't know where you are finding those lap times and don't know of any Laguna Segway but the time at Laguna Seca are 1.37:83sec for the Corvette and 1.36:36sec for the NSX. They always find ways to bash the corvette but it always been legendary and twice as cheaper and stock. Flawless tune the vette and try again. No competition.
Electric assisted AWD NSX vs C8... not fair... Corvette is still stuck in the 50's drive train mode... sad. Maybe GM will put some of the engineers from the new Hummer EV onto making a MODERN performance version of the C8...? Even a stock Tesla P100D Raven sedan can beat the C8 in the 1/4 mile. (yes it costs more, but it also weighs almost 1,300 pounds more)
This don’t seem right. At the beginning it said the nsx (Tuned) so is it stock at 600+ HP? What I see is a package vs Stock which is an unfair advantage
Before the racing began, this was my thought logic too. But if you watched carefully, the AWD and hybrid system didn't really give it that much of an advantage on launch. The Corvette basically kept up at launch. In the first race where they both had similar reaction time, the Corvette was barely half a car length behind at launch and lower speeds. It wasn't until higher speeds that Corvette lost the battle. I was really surprised when the V6 started to pull away from the V8 at higher speeds. I thought for sure it was be similar to how Tesla's can launch quick but lose on the top end, but that NSX just kept walking away no matter the speed.
@@Boblib1970 That 573 HP rating is a combined HP rating between the gas engine and the 3 electric motors. The electric motors are used only in initial launch and to help fill the gap between shifts. They don't provide any aid at higher speeds. The gas engine itself only makes 500 hp and 410 lb/ft. The C8 makes 495 hp and 470 lb/ft. The NSX shouldn't have been walking away like that at higher speeds.
The C8 is running a base model standard naturally aspirated v8 also. It has no power adders like the Acura running a Turbo. When they even the playing field the Z06 will take this Acura out with ease.

in other words you have never driven one and dont know what your talking about...The NSX is a marvell and shares the same technologhy as the porshe 918 at a fraction of the price.
The NSX weighs 4058 lbs with a 180 lb driver and with down pipes and a JB4 on 98 octane makes around 590whp. The C8 weighs 3,757 with a 180 lb driver and makes 466whp stock on 93 pump gas. The C8 has a 301 lb weigh advantage which would equate to roughly adding another 30whp to it's 466 making 496whp. So, in reality the C8 didn't do bad but that NSX should have been hitting 10.6 easy for the mods.
In the real word, the driver of the C8 would be an OLD FAT GUY who spent his life dreaming about owning a $60k car, thus adding to the weight of the C8 and have slower reaction times. lol
