In this video i'm porting and polishing a intake manifold from a 2006 Acura RL . The Acura TL Type S has this same manifold. I am going to show you the tools that i used and the steps i took to get this manifold ported and polished.
Do you think the porting on the throttle body side and the j37 throttle body is costing you any noticeable gains in lower RPMs? I ask because you mentioned seeing gains around 4500. Wonder if j35 throttle matched to the j35 manifold would lead to gains across the board.
I would love to see a comparison ported J37 Mani vs J32A2 Mani in a dyno before and after. The only thing I see people saying is that a J37 is better than stock J32 but if you port J32 Mani it'll be better but yet never mention J37 ported vs J32 ported 🤷♂️
Thank you for watching... The intake manifold bolts / nuts 16ft lbs.. And the intake cover I put some blue locktigh blue and torque them down to 8.5ft lbs
@@sneakypete213 Thanks. Is 16ftlbs. for the plenum clamshell bolts? It is a replaceable item per the service manual so it doesn't list the spec. I ported/polished my plenum as in your video and am ready to reassemble. Thanks.
Thanks for watching.. The horsepower gains depends on the engine, exaust and intake setup that you are running.. This mod works good with the j32a3 and the J35A8 because they are high compression engines ..
Thanks for watching. The tools that I used was 2 screwdrivers, 1 chisel and a hammer. It's not easy to split open but I started by the throttle body flange. Once it open a little , I jammed a screwdriver to hold it open while I used the chisel and the hammer to split it the rest of the way. Be careful not to chop off the pin like I did in the video.
Thank you for watching this video..Use your judgement and don't thin out the walls to much. all you want to do is remove all of the casting and sharp edges in the manifold.
It would fit the MT model, since it uses a non-butterfly valve top plate for the intake manifold. I haven’t checked to see if the throttle body can be swapped over too.
can anybody in the comments let me know if its okay for me to just use a metal sponge and ajax cleaner to just clean it out i dont want to spend all that money to polish it for it to just get dirty again
