Did my scaphoid surgery on feb 23,2024 , they put a screw inside the bone to patch it up .. now recovery is going well .. pains at times but its getting lesser each day
Interesting to hear everyone's story with this. Get it checked out ASAP if you think this is your problem! I broke mine 6 months ago in sports and had surgery 2 months ago as it was still broken. Healing nicely so far starting PT. Good luck
I need help?, my doctor to another bone out of wrist put on the scaphoid. It healed but it broke again because of the nail was big. They want to take a bone out of my hip to put it on the scaphoid. The bone is broken in the middle they are spaced out a part. What should I do ?. There another’s way to fix it.
snapped mine after flipping a dirtbike, got xrays and cat scans and found out it was snapped in half ( also this was almost 2 years later cause im stubborn and thought it would get better). just had surgery and they took a piece of bone from my hip, then separated the scaphoid bone and screwedthe piece of hip bone in between the broken scaphoid bone in my wrist. my hip hurts more and im trying to get out of this cast ASAP! its driving me nuts ands its only been 4 days!
I had an accident more than 5 years ago and still live with the pain in that area. It first happened 12 years ago and it healed by itself which is the reason i didn't went to the doctor until now. The pain and the limited mobility of the wrist that i learned to live with until hiling doesn't seems to work now like before. Is possible that the bone to be broken and dead? I work in industry so i need my hand very much. Thanks!
How is your hand now? I have the same history like yours. Mine was broken 13 years ago and healed by it self and broken again a year ago . What can you advise me? How is your hand the last 5 years?
I had the exact same probleme. 1 Year after a accident it started to hurt really bad after i thought it healed and it got worse from month to month and the result was a unstable fracture. Go get it checked
Smashed mine skateboarding yeArs ago,got s cast and now it's still aches. Not sure if I could commit to the crazy screw, although got to admire medical technology for being actually able to put a tech screw in your wrist.
Your scaphoid is probibl still fractured I had the same thing with mine after an accident it still aches for years after and after falling on it again and it swelling up massive I went back to the hospital and turned out it never fully healed so I had to have this exact operation the re falling on it did little damage but opened the existing fracture I little further
I used to play football card and taht on my arm and Nksrt Aledmh Alqdharovan and went to the doctor and Ghali me she is from a broken any time Bmanh was Mhaourh When taht the breakage completed what to do
@@ExpendableCrumb i know this might be late but check medical standards. Certain pins and screws will disqualify you but i doubt this would be anything disqualifying. You may however need a waiver.
MOST orthopedic hardware is intended to be left in permanently. It can be removed if it is causing neuropathic pains, or is doing the opposite of what is intended to do; impeding the se of the limb operated on in a significant way. I think the hardware for my left humerus could be causing the pain I’m experiencing, but, I need to complete the physical therapy for a left shoulder capsule reset, first. This could take up to nine months.
Don't ever get a single opinion on an x Ray ! I thought i broke my wrist went to to the er doctor told me I had a sprain went back several different occasions and got x rays at same hospital all saying it wasn't broken although I knew something was wrong. Went to a hand surgeon today and brought my first x rays from 8 years ago as well as my recent ones and found out it was broken back than. Now my wrist is so fucked I have to have it fused together. I make my living as a fisherman and electrician so this news was beyond devastating. Never trust one person's opinion
+Kyle March Had the same problem myself. They didnt even x-ray my wrist. I knew nothing about these injuries or the possible problems associated if they are not picked up early. I hope you have little or no pain after the fusion
Kyle March I got the same surgery done about 8 weeks ago they say it didn't now I have to get it fused how long did it take for your hand to be able to lift normal weight
My case is xray didn't detect it initially, as it was a hairline fracture. It got developed and when I was playing batting. Now it got detected and fixed with a screw. As soon as you detect, it will be safe. Keep the hope. U will be all right.
It's a titanium screw. There is no necessary indication to remove it other than infection or a ee fracture or screw loosening. Or if patient insists that it is to be removed, it may be done after a reasonable time until fracture heals or after confirming the status of fracture healing
@@Usama.Rizwan.Baloch I've had this screw for 6 years and have never gained full mobility in my wrist I actually think it is hindering me now more than helping. Thinking of getting removed
@@CodyMiller-xl7mr my case is little different, i have full mobility but my wrist hurts alot when i move. Doctors told me that they will have to analyse my hand for a year and if it still hurts, then i would have no choice but to have surgery
Broke my left scaphoid skateboarding 4 months ago for the 2nd time and had a cast for 2 months. Didn't heal so I had to get this surgery a month ago. Watching this is too weird. 19 days to go on the cast...
@@onurzz581 yeah I'm lucky I'm still young so I'm pretty much back to normal a year later. It took about 6 months after the surgery to get most of the strength and range of motion back but I can still tell it's a little bit stiffer than it was
@@onurzz581 hope it went well! I definitely had to take some of the percs they gave me for the pain, it gets much better after the first couple of days. Normal full recovery is 4-6 months, I just had a particularly tough time because I'd also been immobilized for 2-3 months before the surgery but it seems like you avoided that for good
