YOU ALL KNOW THAT MY FAVOURITE DAILY ANTIOXIDANT SERUM IS SKINCEUTICALS CE FERULIC, so when they asked me to take THE SKINCEUTICALS CE FERULIC Challenge, I jumped at the chance. Can this serum not only prevent an apple from turning brown (ie oxidising) but reverse it? Watch me get my science geek on and put antioxidants to the test. Plus I answer some of your most common antioxidant skin care questions, like what exactly is an antioxidant, where does it fit in your skin care routine and which mix is right for your skin?
ENJOY.

Dears, I saw many people commenting on how expensive the product is or how their skins would compare to an apple... This video merely points out the efficacy of using an antioxidant on your skin. Skinceuticals may have been the sponsor, but this does not mean they have the only antioxidant serums in the world (Differences in formula is another subject). Nadine has previously mentioned many antioxidant serums, which were affordable. I don't understand why people take everything so literally; no one is comparing you to an apple and no one is saying you "must" use Skinceuticals. Dears, there are many antioxidants out there; use what you can afford and stop blaming RU-vidrs for sponsored content, especially when she has clearly pointed out it was sponsored content and has many many times listed affordable skincare.

I use Timeless Skincare’s 20% Vitamin C+ E and Ferulic Acid Serum. It’s $25 (US) and here’s what I do to extend the shelf life (companies want you to think it’s only good for 3 months) to over 6 months plus. I purchased a dark glass bottle with dropper like the one it comes in. I divide them I into separate bottles, wrapping one of them in aluminum foil (keeps air/light out), the other I store in the box that it came in. I keep both in my refrigerator, I haven’t had one to oxidize yet! Been doing it for years, It really works! 😬👍🏼

@NadineBaggott

Louis Ross the Apple was chosen because it shows oxidation quickly and visibly. Obviously it’s not like the skin but trust me your skin oxidises too and the result is pigmentation, lines and sagging, it simply takes longer to see the results. And yes ascorbic Acid is used as a food preservative but that doesn’t negate it being used effectively in skincare does it? X

Can you do a video on make up expiry dates? What make up can you keep a little longer past the date on the bottom? I’m interested in concealers - stick vs pump vs doe foot, lipstick vs lipgloss, powder products. I just went through all my make up and tossed out most of it because it was old. But I’d like the official word on how long it all lasts because when I ask girls at the make up stores they have no clue. :)

I don't mean to be a spoil sport because I know this serum has a lot of good academic texts supporting it, but can I just point out, it might visually look impressive but our skin is not a sliced apple. It's a lot more complex than this. You can get the same result with lemon juice on an apple as everyone knows, but we would never put lemon juice on our skin.

Trouble is, our faces are not as absorbent as the inside of an apple.. The experiment might have been more valid if you had sliced your skin open and spread the serum on the open wound. Would the CE Ferulic have penetrated the apple’s skin?? I guess not...The whole point of the outer layers of skin (whether on apple or face) is to stop things from being able to penetrate it. In other words smearing a serum that costs over £100 on a surface that can’t absorb it to the required levels is an expensive and pointless act. Better antioxidant effect might be just to eat the apple!

You can use it under the eyes, but not on the eyelids. Just make sure not to get it in your eyes because it will sting just like orange or lemon juice would. I use Cellex C vitamin C serum, and I apply it under my eyes every single morning with no problems. It definitely helps with wrinkles and fine lines. They don't recommend using it on the eyelids because it will make your eyelids sore, which is true because I've tried it! I've even tried using it just on the brow bone, but because it migrates downward towards your eyelid, it doesn't work very well, but you could try it. Maybe you'll have better luck than me. Bottom line....As long as it doesn't get into your eyes or cause skin irritation, it's fine!

I agree, Timeless C,E plus Ferulic is way more cost effective at about $25 US and has 20% L ascorbic acid. I'm surprised that you squeezed the dropper (at the beginning of vid) while it was in the bottle, which only pushes air into the serum and essentially kills the efficacy in short order. I fill the dropper by squeezing it before I put it back in the bottle, once in, I release it and it fills and is ready for my next application. I also use a "working bottle" by putting about 2 weeks worth in a smaller dark bottle with a dropper. The remainder stays in the box, in the fridge, in a darkened area (back of fruit drawer). I also use liberally as this is not a product you want to save, savor or cherish in anyway. Use it daily and use it up.
@SFFogWalker
@SFFogWalker 5 лет назад
Thank you for your tips! If my products don't come on a pump, I too sterilize a small, glass pot and only dispense a few weeks worth of product in to the 'working' pot. Especially when most of us are applying the protection by 6 to 8 a.m ! Of course by the sea or up in the mountains we use our sun protection every one or two hours but on the top of a tinted cream or foundation who is applying anything ? I feel that a good protective foundation with or without powder could be a better sun protection than a day cream that I won't reapply before next morning. I will be so delightful to hear your feeling on this matter. By the way I am allergic to acid ferulic .....is it because of the Skin Ceutical combination of vitamin C and ferulic acid ?

It was the first time I started really doing a skincare regimen and I thought I was using it correctly. I think my skin might be very reactive/senstaive to L-asrobic Acid . thanks for the video, but what’s the relation between an apple and our skin ? I think from this video we can’t get to this conclusion that this serum does the same thing to our skin.

Laleh Ghaneh you don’t see the oxidative process in your skin until you see the pigmentation, lines and sagging but with the apple you see it within the hour. Not only that but the CE Ferulic reverses the oxidation x

Love the video but is there a dupe for the vitamin c serum u talked about hope u can help yes understand that' it a nice serum but a bit expensive for sum people cheers
@NadineBaggott
@NadineBaggott 5 лет назад
Dana Godfrey I totally understand that this serum is costly however many vitamin C Ferulic dupes are heavy and gritty and SkinCeuticals have a patent on the technology that produces this serum x

I bought CE Ferulic but it came a bright yellow. Although I paid a bundle, I discarded it. What color should it be?
@NadineBaggott
