How did you find the background organ music for this piccolo piece? I play this piece as well with my piccolo trumpet but in silence on Instagram. I sure would like something like this that sounds beautiful. I love Albinoni! Thank you! Dave
@PrivetKaboose The piccolo trumpet does not change the pitch that you play on the mouthpiece. You will have the same basic range. Lighter sound, less demanding, and you are playing one octave lower in the harmonic series so the partials are farther apart letting you lock onto the partials better. But it is no cakewalk to play. Playing it warmly, freely, and in tune like this is demanding. This guy is fantastic.
@BYUcougar410 why C trumpet? and i was going to get one for the soul purpose of being able to play the higher octive notes easier while marching and such but thanks for the advice :P
Couldn't agree more with gertnood. Picc playing is difficult. The piccolo trumpet does not make you play higher, it facilitates locking on the notes. Pulling a nice full sound out of a picc and being in tune is no picnic. This arrangement is not identical to the one made for Maurice Andre, but it is quite demanding. Timothy Moke is certainly one to emulate.
@zocphra No offense but if you are still in high school you probably have no business playing a piccolo trumpet yet. Get to a college level or better at the big horn then you MIGHT be ready. Before then all you are going to do is give yourself bad tension and habits and subject people to painful out of tune noise.
