How about we don't. Listen to any music you want. We don't need a month dedicated to a race. Its essentially cult like. Where is Indian History Month ? Where is Chinese History Month ?
“Round MidNight” was a thing of Beauty! Vocally. Instrumentation . “Tech Me”was always a great song that sounds complete now. The whole show gets applause , applause !! Music done by HUMANS just feels different!! 🎉
If you've ever seen your favorite music superstar live on tour, more than likely Adam Blackstone was their musical director. Very very talented and versatile brother! Kudos to NPR Tiny Desk for bringing him on to let him shine! 💯
So honored to have played with Adam Blackstone in our high school jazz band in Willingboro, NJ. Great memories, and so proud of all his accomplishments! Shout out to our phenomenal jazz band director, Mr. Lesser as he helped all of us hone our music playing skills. Blessings to you always, Adam! Keep up the great work!
Shoutout to Adam for giving Blakley a platform like this to showcase his talent been following him for a while since the music competition he’s on and he’s a great gift especially at such a young age, he’s gonna go extremely far‼️
Love it. Thank you for bringing this to people that can't always get out to go to concerts because of work or disability issues. This is so appreciated.
This feels like... I'm not a morning person, but I have a music theory class and opera workshop performance to prepare and ... I just made it to Rollings - Stewart Hall, and the air is filled with the Jazz Comp and Theory students preparing for their performance, so all is right in the world.... I love my HBCU!!! TSU! TEXAS SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY 🐅
Thank you NPR for letting these brilliant musicians shine bright like a diamond. And... can we please get a Grammy nomination for this Tiny Desk performance of 'Round Midnight? It's stellar, truly!!
One of the reasons I love Tiny Desk so much is... every month is Black Music Month! But extra is always welcome, especially when it's such a summer peach! My gosh, Blakely on Round Midnight? Thank God I have ears to hear!
Adam Blackstone is excellent!!! Keeping it vibey, funky and sophisticated - lots of energy. I knew he was well respected and an in demand MD to the stars but didn’t know he had recorded his own music. Thank you for sharing this performance… 🙏🏽
Musiq Soulchild is an all-time GOAT of modern soul R&B music. His lyrics speak depths of experience and authenticity. I used to really feel his music back in high school, and now (20+ years later) I feel and HEAR his music even deeper.
I remember the first time I realized that I recognized Adam because I'd seen him playing bass or some other instrument on so many televised performances (GRAMMY performances, Super Bowl performances, network television shows that had a live band, etc). He STAYS working. Glad to see his hard work continue to pay off - great performance!
Beautiful soulful melodies Jazz groove.💞 The Upright YES. SINGGGG Blakely. Play Band flow. 🎹🎸🎷🎺🥁 I appreciate great music👏🏽💓 Complementary Jazzy Jeff👏🏽👍🏽
OMG! They seemed like they were having too much fun at this performance!! There should be so much more likes than this!! I was smiling the entire time!! Now Musiq needs to come back and do one!! 🙏❤️🎶🎶
YOU BEDDA celebrate the greatness of melanin NPR TDC!!!!!!!!!! This was AMAZING! Adam's music reminds me of the music we'd hear on Spike Lee movie soundtracks! I'm so here for fellow artists being featured!
Wow! I mean... this entire set was just gorgeous. Congrats to Adam Blackstone (made me happy to see he'd be one of the TDs this month) and a well done to NPR for honoring Black Music Month with such incredible artists.
