Perhaps he prefers the radio/podcast medium. I imagine it's less stressful, I know he's spoken about the nerves before shows like this, and not wanting to watch it back after it's finished.
I think he'd be amazing doing almost anything, but he can't be arsed to fight the uphill battle of constantly being shot down by the idiots who decide what goes on tv, but don't recognise genius. He needs to be asked more.
10 years later and I'm still in stitches and looking for any new material from him. Just re-watched all the BUG episodes. Again. So good they're available on YT.
It's been at least 10 years since I first heard the name Adam Buxton. It's only been the last few weeks that I stopped ignoring him and started delving into his 'back catalogue'. Life is all the better for it.
Ever since I first saw this, whenever I hear or say "or something" my mind autocorrects it to "or sutin", and I'm back here watching this in short order.
TheYorkMan Actually I like Rhod Gilbert. My comment was posted way before he was even announced as the new permanent host. I do still think Buxton would've been a much better choice but Rhod has done a fine job so far and I thoroughly enjoyed the latest series of Buzzcocks.
TheYorkMan It's fine to have that opinion. But it is just that, your opinion. Comedy is entirely subjective so just because you don't find Rhod funny doesn't mean others agree with you. By "out there" comedians i'm assuming you're talking about Noel, whose comedy style was established years before he became a regular panelist and as for Phil he's been there the whole time. If you don't like the 3 of them you're simply watching the wrong show. As for the lack of "real" musical artists, Amstell gave the show such an awful reputation for ridiculing and bullying its guests that it's never really grown out of, which scarred a lot of potential guests away. Whether you think the newer guests are "real musicians" is entirely irrelevant the show isn't as popular as it used to be so they can't get A-list stars anymore. As for it not being a pop quiz that's just incorrect. Almost all of the newer guests are either modern pop artists or have released a song that placed high in the charts. Modern pop is so over-populated with samey artists and one-hit wonders that anyone they book will be a "nobody" as you put it.

Yes I agree with other commenters.Adam needs to be on TV way more,he is so funny,clever and doesn't say things just for shock value or to get cheap laughs.Why is it that the really decent talented ones do not get enough TV time ...maybe I answered my own question there

I've seen Adam quite a few times in Sainsburys near me. I never know what to say to him though. He's a funny guy and I don't think my level of comedy or wit would entertain him in the slightest. Maybe I should just run into a stack of tinned food in front of him and shout something absurd. Ah I don't know.
Wait...do they have to do ADR on Buzzcocks? Pretty sure when I last saw this episode that Adam yelled “fuckin hell!” during the “gelehair 27... bit but on this version it cuts away and he shouts “sweet Christ!” Instead...
