Teddy Roosevelt died in 1919 while construction began in 1927, so he wouldn't have gotten anywhere sucking up to him. It may have been a decision to honor his friend, or maybe Roosevelt's presidency was already considered "good enough."

I am by no means arguing. I personally doubt Roosevelt got his carving merely out of having ties to the sculptor. He was a big hero of the Spanish-American war, he was an explorer, an overall badass, he got the Panama canal, saved tonnes of common Americans from big corporate monopolists, of all the, at the time, more contemporary presidents I absolutely believe he deserved his slot.

but thats not true. before his show he was working with college humor. which as the op said was one of the biggest and best known comedy youtube channels. sure he was probably doing some open mic stuff at the time to but he was also doing very popular videos on youtube. was really messed up to see him not mention college humor at all. the show on tv is based on the show they made on college humor and he makes it out to sound like he was wandering struggling to find money when someone heard him at a mic night and talked to him someone else about giving him a show. as if college humor had nothing to do with it.

I watched (mostly listened) to this while eating breakfast and didn't notice and then I rewatched the first 2 minutes (just bc ppl were commenting on it) and it was pretty obvious. Watch Stephen's facial expressions and body language, especially after he greets Adam.

I'm really glad it's TR and not Andrew Jackson up there. Sure he was racist by today's standards, but back in his time he was quite progressive. He invited Booker T. Washington to the Whitehouse (a move the freaked out a lot of racists of that era) and wanted to desegregate schools. Also, TR is the only one of those presidents who spent time in the Dakotas.

He seems to have forgotten about College Humor. He didn't have a lot of episodes there but the minimum people made there is 20k a year, the average is almost 60k a year so idk what he meant by struggling. Maybe he was struggling before he worked there.

Colbert set him up good for a Daily Show joke and Adam didn't take the bait. Colbert also set him up to mention College Humor, didn't take the bait. Tedd R has a crazy cult following (cuz he was awesome and set up the national park services) and Adam didn't even mention that Teddy wasn't even alive for the creation of the statue so there goes that "sucking up" theory. In the ep Adam kinda insults Teddy R, I stopped watching the show after that.

Adam, I went to Mt. Rushmore last week, they tell you it's unfinished and show what it was going to be. Plus, Teddy did ask for his face, which they tell you there as well. What I hated was the "history" video that was only around 70% accurate.

Construction of the faces on Mount Rushmore began in 1927. Teddy Roosevelt died in 1919. He face was not included because he was friends with the sculpter. Roosevelt was chosen by Calvin Coolidge because Roosevelt came up with the idea for the National Park Service.

Anyone could expose the COMPLETELY Right Wing new show by Colbert. EX: his bosses are right wing billionaires.... and Colbert's entire show is... COMMERCIALS TO MAKE THE RICH RICHER. The few guests he has on who are NOT the 1%, are ppl like Adam, who WORK for the 1%, so Colbert is still promoting the Corporations.
