Adam Gilchrist talks Michael Vaughan and Ricky Ponting through the art of wicket-keeping, drawing on his experiences keeping to Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath.
Probably the greatest wicketkeeper ever since he successfully kept against one of all time best speedster and one of the best spinners of all time. Don't forget his humbleness with that huge talent and success! Hats off to Gilly
Gilchrist is probably one of australia's greatest batsman as well. He was also Australia's greatest wicket keeper since Wally Grout and he has been a wonderful team member. If he had been selected as the Captain, I have no doubt he would have succeeded as well. Thankfully, I got to watch all of his career. Gilchrist never missed a moment to excel at cricket in any form of the game, on and off the field. He is my cricket legend. Cheers,
Gilchrist would be the number one aussie keeper in all sides i think due to how good his batting was but technically Healy was our best keeper but gilly was close behind that and his batting would give him the edge in selection
Gilly was far and away my favourite cricketer growing up. I took up keeping in juniors and made sure I had all the same gear as him. Same gloves, same bat, same pads. He was an exceptional player.
A whole generation became keepers to emulate Gilly, and leg spin bowlers to emulate Shane Warne. The effect of that Aussie team on many people is unmatched by todays players
What a legend Adam Gilchrist is.... One of the best wicketkeeper batsman in the history of the game.... The man who lit up that interest of practicing wicketkeeping in my matches......
It makes me cry thinking about his retirement against us back in 2008....he is wicketkeeper of century. What a legend of the game. So humble and so technical. He was John wick of cricket back then. So quick yet so destructive 😊
Excellent explanation by Gilly one of my fav's. My father was also a wicket keeper at State level in India in his days. He has few sayings for the WK's: 1. Wicket keepers are born not made. 2. Only foolish choose to keep the wicket. It's a damn tough and thank less job.
In baseball we use pitrching machines pointed at th ground like 4 foot in front of us and we block "pitches" as part of our drills.. often without gloves.. just getting legs and pads worked... very effective..that or a team mate or coach batting balls at us..
so many similar principles as being a catcher in baseball... never crossing feet on adjustments side to side..positioning self on ball side w/throwing side... really interesting...
Michael Kasprochiv, Gillespie,Brett lee,Johnson and tait the big fast bowlers Gilly faced 🙄man handle this Australian bowling lineup like a easy Job..McGrath,bichel,suart Clarke, bracken, warne etc..Easily the greatest WK Ever.
