I will say this until the end of time, America was not ready for an unapologetically open gay man to win that show even though he so rightly should have. No one even remembers the name of the actual winner of that season but we all know who Adam Lambert is.
I honestly do remember the winner of that year it was Chris Allen the reason Adam didn't win it was because he was too over the top for people's taste. But in my opinion who do you hear the most from in American Idol not so much the winners except for the first year winner Kelly Clarkson. I honestly do like Adam and have a cd of his which has his hit song from the movie 2012. I don't have a cd of Kris Allen.
I was so annoyed that he didnt win. But looking back now, 2nd place was the best thing that happened to him! He was mega popular, and wasn’t tied down to those awful American idol record deals where they control everything and make him put out radio friendly garbage
IMO....he did win..landslide. Everyone knows it. He's been frontman for QUEEN for years now and slays it. He can sing anything. Never misses a note, never makes a mistake. I love ❤️ him ❤️
He can sing anything and he makes this 70 year old lady happy every time I see him. His Kennedy Center performance of Believe and his lead singing for Queen is epic.
This 65 year old lady feels the same way. Ever since he auditioned on American Idol & then Queen. Freddie Mercury is smiling in heaven. Adam, I am so proud of him.

This guy has one of the best voices I’ve heard in the past 50 years and I can’t believe he didn’t win the final. I was brought up on 70’s & 80’s rock music and when he sings rock music he is untouchable. No wonder Brian May and Roger Taylor wanted him to front Queen after his performance in the final. The other guy who won the final was average at best compared to Adam. His rendition of Led Zepplins Whole Lotta Love was just incredible. Plus he looks like a rock star when he’s on that stage. Finally his vocal range is incredible.

Adam didn't need American Idol. He was already a winner in the eyes of the world. Amazing. He is kind. Caring. Great Talent. So happy for Adam in Queen Band.
He goes on concert with Queen but he stayed his own person. He still goes by Adam Lambert. He did not join the band Queen as a member. He is a fantastic singer.
That performance was iconic. A real masterclass in technique and showmanship. It brought Cher to tears and captivated the entire audience. Adam Lambert at his finest.

I was his Number One Fan the first audition song and watched every night, as he Blew the rest of the contestants away with his talent; his unique cocky charisma, that vocal range and professional package; and yes he took me back to my HS & College loves & passions! I was a fan of Queen & knew he could be King of Queen and everyone of US would win! We did, didn’t we....Hello Adam, you’d laugh to know your most loyal voting fans were older women! We voted en masse & I think I wore out at 148 times! I suspected small town Religious Right would vote for Chris. So, we all called. All of my friends used LAST NUMBER DIALED to repeatedly vote against the South & the Midlands in USA. We helped but my heart was forever broken that the Bible Belt gave you the swiveling hips Elvis response! WE TRIED TO GET YOU THE AMERICAN IDOL WIN, BUT SMALLTOWN AMERICA HAD UNIFIED! You showed them because your talent & ultimately more mature judgment took you to your Pinnacle. Bottom line you didn’t need American Idol, QUEEN & THE WORLD FANS OF QUEEN & their Repertoire.........absolutely needed your talents & judgment. Keep on keeping on & make this Old Rocker & Sunset Strip Dancer, proud! You have eclipsed others, perhaps not other Idols such as idealized Elvis, Freddie, or ? But you have eclipsed all American Idols before, during & after your reign. Do Grammy a favor & stay away from all drugs & alcohol. Hands down the best male singer that ever took the American Idol stage. He should have won but as it turned out, he became the most successful of them all. Kelly Clarkson is still the #1 best female singer that the Idol produced. Even Carrie Underwood can't hold a candle to Clarkson.
Adam Lambert is simply unbeatable. He has an incredible voice, can sing any musical style and has a lot of stage presence! Adam was born to be a superstar and in fact, that's what he became.

Adam Lambert didn't win American Idol, but look at him now. Absolutely a fabulous success in the entertainment industry. The same with Jennifer Hudson who finished in 7th place. Now she's the youngest E.G.O.T. winner in history. The show became more of a popularity contest than a singing contest. A few gifted singers used this platform as their stepping stone to greater things. You can't keep gifted talent from revealing itself.

I remember Adam Lambert from American Idol. He impressed me more than any other contestant. He has talent and style that has gotten better. When I heard him at the Kennedy Center singing Believe I was blown away. It was absolutely the most beautiful rendition ever. He could be even more successful to a wider audience if he did more songs like that! ❤😮💕😉🌷🙂

There was no valid excuse for Adam to NOT win idol. Still to this day he is the most talented person to Grace the idol stage. Every performance was a full blown show. He is a true entertainer. I'm glad he has gone to far with his talents and his career. He deserves every last bit of it. He's a beautiful human being
Adam won!! He is his own person! His life is the life of a winner! Kris Allen won fairly! He is out touring the world also... Adam is on a different scale! Both are amazing... open your mind.
His ability to be so diverse is just incredible. I grew up with Freddie Mercury and I NEVER thought anyone could even come close to his vocal range and singing ability. In my opinion Adam's voice is spectacular and I enjoy his singing more than Freddie's. Both were/are spectacular front men but I would give that edge to Freddie with having just a little more charisma. And please don't tell me I shouldn't compare because you know we do it! Even Queen thought there was no more Queen until Adam so I am very happy we have him so we can continue to hear their outstanding catalog of songs live!
I totally agree with you! Adam Lambert was absolutely the best vocalist on that season of American Idol and SHOULD have won! BUT didn't because he was/is a gay man and American Idol, the show was not prepared or comfortable with him/ his gender being named the winner of American Idol back then. Well he sang with Queen at the Queen' s platinum jubilee. How many American Idols did this. The Princess of Wales 😊and even the Queen concert had no trouble enjoying him. He didn't hide the fact he was gay and so was Freddie. It's time people accepted this and entertainer was an entyy entert

I am 87 years old, I watched him on American Idol; I fell in love with his voice, deliverance, and he has the looks to go with it. He was the winner in my books. So glad to see how he has made his challenge.
I am 71 and saw him in concert in 2009. I acted like a 13 year old!! He was, by far, the most talented performer I had ever heard. Also, he is the most beautiful man I have ever seen. Never a bad photo taken of him.

Adam was the most talented artist they ever had on the show. The boy can sing, move and my goodness he is so good looking. His octave range is incredible.
There is nothing Adam cannot sing his vocals are insane. Just love him and can never get enough of his videos etc. These do think hes got better as he has got older if thats possible and its obvious these days hes very comfortable within his own skin and it shows❤️
A prince , Paula Abdul was the only judge to get him! He was so above the show. His performances knocked me out. I'm so proud of him. Miraculous that true talent could not be ignored. Yes he remains so humble? Absolutely love him!
Sadly it was because they found out he was gay. And who really cares, it has nothing to do with his god given talent! It was so wrong what they did & I remember watching the judges, the look of total shock on their faces. Adam was already a star when he went on that show & I love, love his singing 💕

Adam didn't win Idol, but he didn't have to, he didn't need that validation, he voice was validation enough. He was already mega talented, all he needed was the exposure and he got that, now, the sky's the limit.

+peigeone Between Adam and Kelly Clarkston they are the only two that people can remember. I'm with you that after Adam lost I also quit watching the show. The judges all were for him but the stupid phone calls voting screwed it up.. Also I wonder when he came out if that was a strike for him.. It did hurt Clay Aiken. who was also very talented...They lost a lot of views due to people thinking the show was ridded including myself.
Lambert's season at American Idol was the best they ever had. It's a shame he didn't win. He was the best performer and the best vocalsist I ever saw at the show
"I Can't Get No (Satisfaction)" was the first time I ever noticed Adam, and I knew right then and there that he was the one to beat. :) He should've won, and to this day, I still think he's the best contestant *American Idol* has ever had.

I'm old, and grew up listening to every genre of music when music was really really good -- just my opinion, but it's this strange dichotomy -- I think Adam has the No. 1 most beautiful voice and delivery for singing ballads than anyone else ever, and that list is way long -- the dichotomy is: he's a rocker at heart. Adam lost to a vocal rice cake. Adam also broke Idol. It was the beginning of the end for that show. But it all got sorted out. Adam is an international star, three successful albums, tours all over the world, Grammy nomination, multiple tv appearances, guest judge on Idol, judge/mentor on XFAU, front man for legendary Queen (Brian May and Roger Taylor say they wouldn't be touring if it were not for Adam). They are rock legends who say Adam's voice is one in a billion. Adam's name is always mentioned as one of the most successful Idols ... because he is!
And he is probably the highest money making performer coming from that show. Clarkson may have acquired more, but has had more yrs to do it. Doubt Adam will be stopping anytime soon, and can have a comeback anytime he pleases. JS

First ,second , he got it out to millions . Kris was a little more country, Adam had a hard time with country. It wasn’t his favourite . Check out how the judges bowed down to Adam, threw , to close to the end , then Randy, tone changed after the kissing pictures came out.. if Adams happy , I am ...Adam and kris were room mates and . Kris said Adam helped him a lot. Other people have said the same. Adam was a sure thing! Kris could have used winning more with family and all. Simon knew Adam would fly.. not a problem. And Adam has the strongest clearest voice and energy , for Queen , Sometimes in some stuff he pushes the bar. But he can make you forget what he just did. By his smile and good singing . Thank you for saying that! Many, including the judges say that he's 'one of the best' (for PC sake) but in all honesty, he IS THE BEST the show has ever had! Or any talent shows have ever had! Born To Be Wild, Whole Lotta Love, what he wore and his performance with KISS... try to beat THAT! Nobody comes close to his level of caliber and abilities. When he sang We Are The Champions and shook Brian and Roger's hands, many knew it's destiny that he will front Queen!
A true and real rock star that came up just as rock stars started to become a dying breed. A one in a million voice and vocal range, with one in a million tone and inflection. A consummate showman. A natural performer. A greatness in his very being. A true artist, of the highest order. We got to witness the birth of a legend on a stage whose league was so many miles below him he could not really be understood or appreciated fully there (except for Paula-Paula saw and heard him, and instantly and completely UNDERSTOOD WHAT SHE WAS WITNESSING-THE RISE OF A LEGEND). How do I know he was to good for this show? He inexplicably came in second place. Yet it was the best thing that could have ever happened to him because this allowed Queen to snatch him up, go on years long world tours and a Vegas residency, and rightly so. And the rest is rock history. Adam, love you man 🖤
I really enjoyed this recap of Adam's American Idol journey. He was & always will be AI's best & greatest performer. The fact that he now sometimes sings with Queen says it all. And before anyone says "He's not Freddie,"...you're right. Freddie is Freddie, and Adam is Adam. Always were, always will be. They are both superstars with their own unique talent, and neither one will ever be replaced...
The best singer to ever come out of ANY singing competition. To be honest with you, he is one of the greatest singers alive today. I can't thank you enough American idol for introducing him to us❤️

Just like Arnel Pinada of Journey front men need to sound as close to the original as possible, Arnel came from the Philippines but sounds virtually identical to Perry.. Lambert is great but Marcel sounds almost exactly like Mercury.. Again Adam is a GREAT singer but he's a broadway singer at most if not for his gig with Queen..

They found Adam and that was it...they only wanted Adam Lambert. Martel was auditioning for the Freddie imitator /tribute band and they knew very well about him! They put him where he belonged. They took Adam because they find him extraordinary and they love that's he's original and doesn't sound like Freddie at all. If they did like Journey did, they'd taken the imitator... Adam is a great singer, and he can sing anything Rock, Pop, opera, blues, soul... Etc. That's why he's Great. Also.. Adam has a solo career that has gone pretty well, and he's continuing it at the same time as Queen...working on his 4th album now. I couldn’t believe it when he didn’t win! However, it was for a reason. He would not have been able to tour with Queen because he would have been tied down with another contract. So, everything happened for a reason. He’s great touring with Queen! Could not have picked a better front man.
Rarely does the winner of American Idol go anywhere in the industry, with exception of course to Kelly Clarkston & Carrie Underwood. I can't think of any other winners that made it anywhere. Adam was better off not winning, so that he could take his own path and not the path that they wanted him to be on. There is no other like Adam Lambert. He's a rare gem.
Did he look surprised when he didn't win? Not really right? I'm certain it was predetermined not to be the winner because he had already signed with management agency which made his ability to be the winner null and void. He went on to have the success he did, only because he didn't win, and wasn't under contract with AI or Simon Cowell. He was free to pursue his own fame which he did and now when he comes back he's a star not an alumni. He's better off
This was a hush hush deal with AT&T being the sponsor of the show. They stayed open very late and show all of the people how to super text and get 10 to 1 in 1 vote. That's how he won he didn't win fairly
If you Google it it will tell you about it the next day. It was on the news that AT&T cheated and showed the people how to tend to one text. So of course he won

Most phenomenal talent EVER on that show. When I think of that show, Adam Lambert is the one and only name that immediately comes to mind. UNFORGETTABLE.
