Adam Minter is awesome! He really knows his shit. Also he seems like a very nice guy. The Interviewer was ok. Right at the end he got really good. I feel like he didn't care enough about the topic preparing for it.

I watch every Vice offering(or@least I attempt to watch) and this episode along with the Reihan Salam interview with Mark Kleiman are by far the very best thus far !!! Give Wilbert more work.

According to Wikipedia, Sanford and Son ran from 1972 to 1977. I wasn't even alive then. I understand that I'm young but I'm older than most RU-vid users. I'm only two minutes in and I had to pause the video to gain better context.
@CreightonMiller

Yep, much to my surprise. I never would have guessed that my time as a young Chinese boy in the scrapyards burning wire insulation before coming to America and inventing the chop-n-shred razr maxx would've been so valuable in understanding this RU-vid video that I watched one bored afternoon.

***** Too bad its the truth. You don't even need to be political to see how true it is. This coming from a libertarian.
@perezluchiano9861
@perezluchiano9861 10 лет назад
Why, in yours country, does you argue over political nonsense and make joke of person with disability (such as calling yours wounded soilders and accident victims lazy) and not focus on issue of recycle? You makes much waste of yours mind and opportunity to be better human and prepare better for yours children lives. Do you not cares about the world you leaving for your children? Or, does you have problems like in the movie Deliverance, married to yours own sisters? Do you have college or university, or do yous have "all knowing" big ego but very much smallist meat? What is this is right wings alsos? I think this is yours much big tires on yours much high truck syndrome- I know yours BIG little joke about yours right wing trucks! You should have recycle much rubbers to makes biggest rubbers tires for yours right wings truck! Recycle is issue of this one video youtube. RECYCLE is for all humans... and M-TV is best shows and songs music! The best is Eddie Murphy and Ice Ice Vanilla Baby!!! west sides for lifes

***** I know it's more or less irrelevant to the video, but propaganda? More like reality. I know several families just within the local neighborhood who depend on disability to not only support themselves, but to feel comfortable too. One of those families have BOTH wife and husband on disability. They have been on disability for years. What's more? They're house is huge and they only have about five cars. My uncle works for a government recruitment service. He helps the jobless living on government housing and food stamps apply and get into work. Unfortunately, /most/ of who he is scheduled to see simply don't show up. And despite how much they avoid getting a job, the government continues to supply them with housing and food that we all have to pay for. Programs like these give people a reason not to work- if we can find a way to abuse the system, we surely will. It's part of human nature.
@MeIchom
@MeIchom 10 лет назад
perez luchiano I cannot imagine a world where people could care less to involve themselves in political "nonsense." It's funny how people are always making fun of americans, saying they know too little about their own government. Yet you criticize so much as their involvement in political discussion.

I literally took my old truck to the scrappers today. $350. I started with 1200lbs of stele 800lbs of ironyaluminum and 8lbs copper and 4lbs brass. $1075 for the week, not typical, I usually pull $200-$400 month. People throw away cash everyday.

Very interesting topic. For 2014, I have notice some Latin countries making heavy changes in their taxation rates and polices with regards to their scrap industries. I suggest a mini-series on the global scrap industry, with the legal, fiscal, industrial and ecological ramifications, I think Mr. Minter is dying to produce something like it. The HBO episode was very good, but 15 min. is just the tip of the iceberg.
