So let me get this straight: his real sister’s name is Emily and on the the show he’s constantly interacting with/annoying a character named Emily. There’s a connection here somewhere.
FlameNinja42 how can he ruin aliens if aliens could be billions of light years away and the universe is so darn big that there could be another sun and other galaxys and living creatures you have to explore the whole entire universe to make that statement lol
I recently learned that the reason why a lot of people don't like is because i unleash a wave of random information on them even if they don't want me to. I'm pretty sure i picked that up from you. YOU MADE ME THIS WAS ADAM! NOW FIX ME! :D
Hey Adam would you consider being on episode of celebrity Jeopardy and what charity would you donate funds your show can be a head scratcher but good...
Actually the problem with staring at screen for to long or anything to be precise is that you tend to not blink and not use your eye muscles enough and your eyesight does worse just not because of the screen. Take brake from time to time ^^ stretch your legs while you do.
that "watch as much TV as you want" line is actually pretty dangerous, Adam. Studies show prolonged exposure to TVs is actually bad for you! To paraphrase an article by Dr. Gadi Lissak, Behavioral Medicine Psychologist & Biofeedback Specialist, on the topic of screen time for youths, symptoms appearing after prolonged periods in front of screens are dry eyes and even myopia.
#AdamRuins I have a question. (Please no hate comments, this is not applicable to me at this moment, but very well might be in the future, why I'm asking now.) Is cannabis safe to take during pregnancy? Every study I found on this has some flaw or another, the closest one being a Jamaican study following children up to 5 years old, with the experimental group having mothers who smoked once per day while pregnant, showing some very positive results- but it was a small study group. I heard that it was repeated, but I can't find the sources. Could you find them and possibly help? I take cannabis for medical reasons, and I know the alternative (my heart medication and pain medication), could be dangerous for an unborn child. I do want a family some day, but if Cannabis is not safe for a child, then I would risk having seizures and being bed-ridden from pain.
There are two Adam Conovers: the real Adam Conover and the Adam Conover character he plays for his show. It's similar to how Stephen Colbert played a character of the same name for The Colbert Report.
I can’t imagine Adam taking the bus. Either fans would recognize him and ask tons of questions or he’d annoy someone like on his show and turn it into an episode... welp I’m off to the bus stop to start an episode
@@benhuang2773 One thing the Three Stooges found was that Curly and Curly Joe¹ were the only ones anyone recognized on the street. Larry, Moe, Shemp and Joe simply wore their hair in a more 'normal' way and no one knew who they were, (something you can't do with hair shaved to stubble). All Adam probably does is comb his hair down. 1: There were six men who played in the Three Stooges, Larry and Moe were the only ones there for the entire near half-century.
I was at a friends house and I mentioned Adam Ruins Everything. She stopped me midsentence and said that this show is nothing but lies. I pulled out videos where it shows the sources and experts and even parts where Adam specifically says that you guys have fact checkers. She kept saying, well everything on the internet isnt true. The more I argued the more she believed her own comment. It's true that the more you try to get something to believe the truth, the more they'll believe their original statement.
As much as I hate to have a friend like yours, some of the sources of Adam ruins Everything aren't really actual factual sources and more just nitpick like the Columbus day one about the earth being a pear with a nipple.
Well to say that they are "nothing but lies" is asinine, i will give her that the writers have shown signs of bias in how they write, in addition they have used sources from non credible sites and scraped the bottom of the barrel for an expert that agrees. Even when they are giving the 100% truth, sometimes the info doesn't lie, but the way it's presented does
It could be that she feld attacked and then people go full denial mode. No way to get them out of their shell. On the other hand, people with that tendency usually rarely change their mind anyway. It's sad, but some people are not worth arguing with, they will never change their mind.
Yeah, I'm not sure why he wouldn't mention that. It is a sign of a much more trustworthy source than one that never changes with new information or corrects mistakes.
Can you guys do an episode about blindness misconceptions? As a visually impaired person, it’s really annoying when the sighted public thinks that we all wear super dark sunglasses everywhere we go and only have canes with a tapper tip. It’s also annoying that sometimes sighted people will think that I am stupid or deaf because I can’t see. It’s happened more times than I can count that once people realize I’m blind, they start speaking slowly and louder to me. While there are deaf blind people, i’m not one of them, my ears work perfectly fine. And also how I use technology, so many people will accuse me of not actually being blind because I can type a comment that is grammatically correct without misspellings; Or even actually find the RU-vid video in the first place
I mean, can anyone really blame the people who dont believe? Either they a're lying or they somehow have the best text to speech program on earth to formulate these long winded comments without a single error. I mean, i guess they could have a friend that fixes up the comment for them but what are the odds?
It’s been a year since I watched him but he streamed fairly often. There are definitely better streamers but if you just want to hang out with him and 50 people when it’s kind of cool.
My Dad hates this show, he says that it's full of lies and that it's "trying to convince us to hate the government". I mean, sure, not everyone likes the show, but it feels like he's going a bit overboard. He watches rants on ARE and sometimes rants himself about it. Oh boy, I'm just hoping that he hasn't seen the gun episode yet.
Sometimes people's beliefs get in the way of thought. It can happen with me as well. People will be people. It can even happen to the fact checkers sometimes on this show. And then people diss this show, and they make bad research or don't use common sense. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZEw8c6TmzGg.html
Hey Adam, I'm a mild-mannered construction-worker who just found out I need a new line of work, due to a bad back; hypothetically/respectfully if I could beat you at a game of Jeopardy and/or Trivial Pursuit-- could I get a job working for you on "Adam Ruins Everything"? I know it sounds crazy, but-- it's worth a shot. In any case, thanks for the show dude, it's appeals to mine as well as many other's knowitallness.
Hi Adam, Is there really an opium epidemic? Or are pharmaceutical companies trying to sell more medication that is less effective? And, can you do an episode of the misconceptions of chronic pain? Thanks
At 2:72 Adam reminds viewers that you have the ability to answer questions like this yourself with a simple Google search. This is also the case with the opiate epidemic: it is 100% real. It has moved from the inner-cities and into the middle/upper-class suburbs which is only now why it's making so many headlines: it's affecting White People! But seriously, there's plenty of articles and videos on it.
That's what the opium epidemic is. That's why it's so upsetting, our own pharmaceutical companies are agravating an already serious epidemic by encouraging people to buy more and more medicinal products, which can lead to addiction.
There is defnitely a hierarchy on transportation. Preferably walk/bike -> public transportation -> used ev -> used hybrid -> new ev ->used internal combustion -> new internal combustion. There are places that electric vehicles would take longer to get to carbon neutral like west virginia but there is no place in the US that traditional combustion engines come out on top. Electric vehicles are still in their early stages and sources of energy will change with it. If you have to get a new vehicle look into getting a used EV. A really great video to look at is TwoBitDaVinci that has epa cited sources. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SwxmIYGpbn4.html
In Adam's voice, "Well, depends on what you're asking! Are you asking about the process through which the United States government might change the school system or are you asking about possible changes that could be made to make the system better? We did do an episode on the school system and standardized tests, but the school system in the US is a little different. Let's start with the how to change. Firstly, the US government actually doesn't have a federal school system. Each individual state runs its own educational system, but the federal government can and does give out grants in order to control certain aspects of how this runs, (much the same way that each state can control their drinking age, but are given grants to keep it at 21). During our standardized testing video we went into detail on how standardized tests extremely limit the ability of schools to reform and better themselves from a broken system originally meant to create the min. education needed for factory workers. This system essentially limits those who are above the minimum standards of the test taking material, while also severely hurting students who don't do as well in certain subjects, have learning disorders, have other medical issues, or any number of various situations that hold back perfectly good students who can't simply reach the level expected by their state. We also discussed that it was because of companies like Pearson who spend millions of dollars every year lobbying congress members in order to keep the status quo. If you want to change the way the American school system works, you've got to start with breaking down the standardized testing system by contacting your congress members, being active with your local board of education, and working with others in your state. Now on to the how to make it better. When we look for the top public education system in the world, (looking at grade school, not college), Finland ranks at the top of the list, followed closely by Switzerland. If we look at some of the most common features for some of the world's top education systems, we see a few patterns. The best in the education world hate homework. No, it's true! Kids don't like it and the world's leading educators don't either. A study by Denise Pope, senior lecturer at the Stanford Graduate School of Education has stated that too much homework can have any number of detrimental effects including, greater stress levels, reductions in health, and loss of time for important developmental needs. Finland also has a different teaching system than the US. Instead of teaching each individual subject in blocks, they cross teach subjects. Learning a new language? Well you might find yourself saying the same things you're learning in your biology class, but in a different language! What about math? Well we can look at the history of the mathematician who founded a particular formula and discuss the various happenings around them in that era! Students have been proven to learn better when they are cross taught because this system better allows them to bring up information because they have multiple jumping off points to jog their memory making learning that much easier! Add this with the fact that the school classes have a small teacher to student ratio and that teachers are given near full autonomy to run their classes as they see fit as well control their own out of work hours time, you get the #1 education system in the world. Finland isn't the only country with things the US could change! Belgium is another one of the top education systems in the world and it turns out, financing does help! The largest share of regional budgeting in Belgium is spent on their Education system and effects from that, as well as a myriad of other factors, have them sitting at the #2 spot, tied with Switzerland! Belgium also has a variety of secondary schools (high schools for the US) where they can go to general secondary (reg high school), vocational school, technical school, or art schools. Learning becomes a whole lot easier when students are focused on subjects that they actually want to take, so the ones that have a general idea of what they want to do in the future can put their efforts into focusing on subjects that they love and will be useful to them, instead of taking classes that they may very well never use in their future careers. Really though GamerBroNico, there's a lot that we could change about our school system and each system has it's ups and downs. Take Belgium for example, their 4 secondary schools may seem great and definitely help making learning as students easier, but just imagine having to decide the first step towards your future career at 16. Most college students either switch their major or get a job outside of their major meaning people past secondary school graduation still aren't fully sure what they want to be, but there are a few constants that we can focus on. We can make a strong start by giving well educated teachers more autonomy in the classroom instead of forcing them to follow standardized tests so they can focus on the individual growth of their students over their collective test scores, hiring more teachers to make student to teacher ratios smaller, and reducing overall homework time for students giving them more time to interact with others and keeping their constantly developing bodies the rest and development they need. If we implement these simple steps, we may not be reaching the top of the world of experimental education, but we would be enacting educational reformation that hasn't been done in over 100 years that will greatly push America in the right direction when educating our youth! This has been Adam Ruins Everything, if you've liked my blurb, keep watching Adam Ruins Everything, like, and subscribe because RU-vid's new algorithm focuses on intractability so the more comments, likes, and subscriptions, the more funding for great educational material like this!
@@TSDTalks22 Thanks! We here at Not Adam Ruins Everything pride ourselves on our attempts to phrase new information in a medium as similar to the show, "Adam Ruins Everything," as possible!
@@TSDTalks22 Well there is one in South Korea led by Woosuk Hwang, a once disgraced scientist who faked data on his cloning discoveries, but now is working to clone endangered animals. Of course I didn't come from a cloning facility! In many countries, human cloning of any kind is absolutely illegal. This includes therapeutic cloning that look to use stem cells in order to assist in curing modern diseases. The cloning you're talking about though, reproductive cloning, hasn't gotten farther than a few human embryos that die within days of their creation. This being said, there was a recent development where, for the first time ever, primates were created by somatic cell nuclear transfer, the same method for creating Dolly The Sheep.
Do an episodes on how film industry security companies rip security officers, they dont follow laws, they break every immigration that can think of and dont give work to legal citizens, los angeles is known for these practices.
I know the truTV people probably don't read this, but if someone does, I think Rhea uses they/them for pronouns! It seems unlike Adam to misgender someone, so I'm gonna guess it was unintentional. So I'm just putting this out there! Have a nice day!
This was pretty good, but there were so many Canist Dog Whistles in the first question, with the straw-manning of Felinists as Hypocritical Spiciests and comparing them to Nazis despite the fact that Felines were heavily repressed and attacked during the Nazi Regime
riding a bus is great yeah tell that to those people that have to wait for half a hour before it arrives and then all get stacked into one bus where having a seat is a luxury, every day
Srksi ruins Adam: Carbon footprints affect global warming way less than its real cause: Deforestation, but since it affects rich people pockets, nobody talks about it TV does ruin vision, eyes are not made to keep long focus on same dot, similar like if you hold your hand in one position, your muscles will eventually atrophy, and in extreme cases even stop working if you dont move them for long time. You must rest your eyes regularly
Also your eye "fact" is almost completely nonsense. While you're technically true in what you say, the dangers that you've listed here only affect people who hold long visual contact. You're forgetting the fact that when people "watch TV" they aren't literally only staring at just a TV screen for multiple hours. They are doing other things too. You're listing VERY extreme cases with your facts.
You must live in a warm climate and big city. Public transit in most smaller cities (especially here in the north) is a living hell. A bus every 40 minutes is inadequate in 10° wind.
Jake Hix source? There was just a major study done that found that shaving has absolutely no effect of hair growth. Here's a write up from Scientific American referencing the study www.scientificamerican.com/article/fact-or-fiction-if-you-shave-or-wax-your-hair-will-come-back-thicker/ and there is also a Sci Show video if you want to check it out.
Hey Adam... What about the myth that you are an alien? Love your show bro, I actually learned more here than my teachers at school ever thought me, you inspired me to start writing and got me interested in history thanks man
