Rhys James Your comment just made me smile through my tears. I miss my brother, my only sibling, desperately since losing him suddenly in 2018. He was 33 like Farley, so the song got to me. But you helped me to recognize how incredibly well he lived those 33 years, since the people he left behind constantly talk about how witty, kind, loyal, fun, reliable and happy he was. Thank you.

@@MeganVictoriaKearns So sorry for your loss, seems like your brother was made of the same stuff that endeared him to the memories of those he knew. To steal a line from Sir Terry Pratchett. @@rhysjames8693 Thank you. I'm afraid my life isn't great, but in time maybe one day it could be? I like that quote. It's tragic to realize that with every movie he makes and every project he starts, Adam thinks "I wish Chris were here to be a part of this." 20 years later he still mourns. Friends like that are once in a lifetime.

Frankly, I think Chris is a big reason Why he became like this. Regarding his friends in movies I mean. After losing one of his best friends, he wants to make sure they get a hangout every so often. Being in Hollywood that is Hard because of schedules. So he solved it by hiring his friends. "Kevin, David, Chris (rock) and I haven't seen each other of 6 months. This won't do!" *proceeds to make a movie so HE Is part of their Hollywood schedule* LOL! It's brilliant and sweet! 💖

A few years ago a co-worker passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at age 58. Besides the shock of it, the hardest thing for me was seeing the grief of his parents. Made my heart hurt and my eyes leak. His father and brother-in-law came in to pick up his personal items and the father wanted to see his desk. He went by my desk on the way, turned to me, I could see he still looked shell-shocked, started talking about how one minute everything was fine, the next thing the mother was calling out to the father, trying to pick him up from the floor (he had suffered a massive stroke), they called the ambulance, took him to the hospital, they thought everything was going to be fine, and then it wasn't - it was all I could do not to burst into tears at work hearing/seeing that at the time. Still shed a tear thinking about it.

I'm very sorry about that my friend. My dad and I are best friends I would say. We act more like brothers actually than father/son. We fight ALWAYS. I've wanted to strangle that man with my bare-hands this week alone more times than I'd care to admit, but when the dust settles (which happens quickly with us) we're back to being pals. I cannot imagine what I would do without him. Every day I thank my lucky stars that my family is as healthy as they are, I just had to say goodbye to my first Grandparent last year (Grandpa, my dad's dad) and he was deteriorating so rapidly that when they took him to the hospital from his Ranch in Wyoming and he died there, we were all super grateful that he never had to spend a waking second in a Nursing Home. An idea that he hated more than 1000 deaths. He was a racecar driver since before racecars existed and a literal cowboy until the day he died. The type of guy John Wayne tried to be in the movies was he in real life. I could talk about him for a month of Sundays, I'm sorry to hijack your comment, I guess what I'm trying to say is that I love my dad and family so much, and I do not take lightly the fact that They are all still living except Grandpa Marv who died in April at 87. I hope that this music makes you remember the good times. Don't be sad that it's over, be glad that it happened. I might be the crappest person alive at giving condolences lol so please don't take this the wrong way, but I want you to know that you simple comment about missing your dad gave me so much joy and gratitude for my own. I'm so lucky it's not even funny. May your dad rest easy, my friend. I am very sorry. I'm sure Christmas time will be very difficult. I wish you godspeed in tackling that coming up. It's never goodbye, just til we meet again..

@@djjazzyjeff1232 Me and my dad were the same way, we'd fight and make up several times a day. But (I have an unusual existence) we got to spend literally every day together with few exceptions for the last 28+ years and never declined an offer for dinner from each other. We watched Bob's Burgers together(his name was Bob), and built a shed together, he got drunk and cried to me once. He was one of my very best friends. I'm 39, my mom is 62. All of my grandparents are gone. I'm not married and have no kids. He was a huge part of my life and he left a huge gaping hole where he lived. Me and my mother are essentially holding each other up, we've been really fortunate that he was able to plan ahead so his services and my mom will be cared for. That part REALLY caught me off guard though lol. I hadn't cried like that since he passed. Leave it up to Sandler and Farley to once again bring emotion out of me, they really are both true artists. I always felt really close to Farley in that I've lived really fast and loose, always pretending to be the fat happy guy but I am quite literally a deep well of emotion, including much much much sadness. Farley made me laugh even when everything else was wrong. I am extremely grateful for everything they all have done.

@@Rattus-Norvegicus I am only 28 and an only child, and my story is uncannily similar to yours. Overweight guy, a "funny" guy and have always been. Unmarried, no kids. I expect this story may get long, your words have coaxed me down memory lane myself lol. My dad is a straight shooter, sometimes to his detriment, but it's also what earned him so much respect from so many people throughout his life. My dad and I have worked for his brother's construction business from 8th grade through to today, at varying levels of seriousness. My dad also raced Sprint Cars (just like my grandpa did since before they existed, he literally helped invent them based on 1930s Fords) and My uncle was the car owner/crew chief. I grew up at the racetrack. I would be literally placed inside a Right-Rear tire to be used as a play-pen so I couldn't run off as a toddler lol. I also raced, motocross, myself from 6-18 years old, when I discovered music which is what I do full-time today. My mom and dad would take me racing on Saturdays and then he would go racing himself on Sundays. And there was one moto track only 30 minutes from the circle track he raced at that raced Sundays. Once a month we would get up at 7 am, drive 115 miles and then get parked, pitted, unloaded, and ready for 9am practice, me race all morning and early afternoon, then we would free ride AFTER the races for 20 minutes or so after all the other dads and sons had gone, THEN we would pack it all up, drive to the circle track, meet my Uncle and the racecar, and then my dad would race that evening in a 410 sprint car, and then afterwords sign autographs for fans and kids, sell T shirts, load up the racecar, walk a literal mile to the very back of the parking lot where we had to park because we were late from ME racing moto all afternoon, get back in our truck with my moto bike in the back, and drive us 115 miles home and we'd arrive at 2 am. IN ONE DAY. He raced weekly, and This was a monthly occurrence where we'd both race the same day. He retired from racing in 2008 (I was in 8th grade, lucky that my grade matches the years, easy for me to remember lol) and we went more serious into the moto thing. He (and my mom, she is as big of a part of this as he, if not bigger) took me all over the region to compete on the weekends. He would work construction all day, then come home, kiss my mom, and then disappear to the racecar shop until suppertime, then he'd come home, we'd eat at the table together every single evening. THEN he'd go out to OUR race shop and work on my moto bike until about 11, shower, be snoring by midnight, then repeat the next day. When I was a real little kid he would do all that plus drive truck in the evenings for extra cash on the side instead of work on my bike. Then, I found music and eventually I became a professional musician, and my dad drives the truck and trailer and helps us setup every single show, and my mom runs sound for us. They've been that supportive of everything I've ever done, my entire life. My dad and I still work together during the day fairly regularly, although we never start until after lunch these days lol (perks of he being semi-retired and me a professional musician). Then in the evenings, still go to the racecar shop, except now it's together, my uncle still has a car, and has begun racing weekly again at the same track, as it reopened with new owners after sitting derelict for several years, and now my dad and I BOTH help work on the racecar at the shop, then Thursday-Friday-Saturday I play my music professionally, and Sundays my dad STILL goes to the racetrack with my Uncle, and this year managed to win the Championship (albeit with a different driver) for this first time since 2004, which was extra special as it's the same year we lost my grandpa, their dad, who literally helped invent the sport. And to top it all off, my band's name is on the side of the car as a sponsor, because the only credit for helping on the car my dad wanted was MY band's name. The level to which my dad and mom (again, I cannot overstate how important she was to all of this) have supported me my entire life has been absolutely outrageous and I'm not even out of my 20s. I know that's a long story, but I hope this helps reinforce how true it is when I say, I cannot fathom what it would be like without my dad, which is why I want you to know how much I empathize with you about yours. Promise me you'll give mama a hug tomorrow and I promise you I'll do the same to both my parents, even though my dad's a little sick right now and he'll get mad at me for being that close to him, I can hear him already "Don't be getting all close to me you can't be getting sick, you have to sing this weekend!" lol

Sandler put that line in the song because it's something that Farley would often repeat --- his friends became concerned because he seemed to wanna die young with all his reckless boozing and drug use --- he was trying to copy his hero Belushi to the grave

The saddest thing about Farely is that he never really knew how much he meant to people. I remember hearing a story about someone telling him he was one of the funniest comedians they had ever seen and he replied with something along the lines of "in the end they just wanna see the fat guy fall down." You meant the world to a lot of people Mr.Farley, I hope you get to see that now wherever you are.

He never understood that he was so much more than "the fat guy". Yeah, he would poke fun at himself and would joke about his weight on occasion, but 90% of his comedy had nothing to do with his weight and would have worked just as well if he were skinny. Kevin James on the other hand, really _is_ nothing more than "the fat guy". That's his entire shtick. He eats too much, he can't hide behind things, he gets stuck in places, and he falls down. He really doesn't have anything else, and it just gets old really quick. I can't help but feel like the only reason Kevin James ever got famous at all was because Chris Farley wasn't around anymore.

I loved Robin Williams. And he was spot-on with that quote. Depressed people are the only ones who know the torment of being perpetually sad. So if we see someone suffering emotionally we pick right up on it. We identify with the pain. So of course we're more likely to try to pull you out. Depression is something you don't wish upon anybody.

The loneliest people are the kindest. The saddest people smile the brightest. The most damaged people are the wisest. All because they don't wish to see anyone else suffer the way they did. Not sure who said this but, relevant. There is happiness in sadness, take care guys.
