Imagine having lightning storm to remove the backrow, dark ruler to negate the monsters and even with that your opponent play during your turn like nothing happened... Damn
And people act like I'm crazy when I said unchained was a bullshit deck with little counter play lmao. Didn't lose to hand traps or breaker and had its interaction hard to force out through just engine as well, ceaser and soul of rage were 5 interactions by themselves while soul of rage being really hard to force out, and they usually had a trap if you didn't hand trap them.
Going first is obviously crucial to the match-up, but it can't be ignored that Unchained has much more slots dedicated to going second cards (including a main deck hand trap lineup that's entirely relevant against Adamancipator), making it more capable going second than Adamancipator. Having the space for these going second cards makes the deck better off altogether - why play through an opposing board when you can prevent that board from being established in the first place?
It also doesn't help that the going 2nd cards Adamancipator had weren't that good for the matchup. Obviously destroying cards is helpful, but much less effective vs Unchained than the average deck. If they had something like Evenly Matched (or, as you said, handtraps), they'd be in a much better position, but ultimately Unchained is a deck that's able to play through board breakers and establish powerful boards themselves. Fun matchup!
God I love the artwork of unchained. (Unchained Lord Yama and Abomination are aesthetically beautiful). This deck being hit and reduced to being used as a small engine in Yubel depresses me. Thanks for including it in the CBC
Unchained is pretty nasty unless you can run ways to get rid of their monsters that don't trigger their floats. I've done well enough by stealing their monsters with cards like Change of Heart and Widow Anchor, Snake-Eyes is basically built to counter destruction floats by having ways of shoving monsters into backrow and easy means to turbo our S:P. And Rescue-ACE using Contain or Extinguish after Unchained has spent its Sharvara is often devastating if a Hydrant is out.
this probably came down to the coin flip. i would assume that the rocks just are much more worse going second than DOG thanks to DOG being able to play through board breakers better, so in a best of 100 would the rock be slightly worse. still both decks basically build boards that ftk the other
@@CaliburXL99 and adams is way worse at going second. So the unchained board is basicially an ftk against a deck that just isnt good at pushing through boards.
Is no one going to talk about the throw in game 2? Why not just Typhon earlier and clear the Savage, and then Talent draw 2 in M2? Of course after Typhon, it's debatable how impactful those draws would have been, but one Imperm or sth like that might have been enough.
They wouldn't have been impactful looking at the researcher topdeck + excavations However it is a misplay which could've costed them the game in a scenario where the topdeck isn't as good Edit: Brain went off for this one, drawing either veiler, imperm or dd crow would've prolonged the game here as with just 1 monster and no other cards in hand, outing researcher and/or block dragon is enough Drawing unchained cards would also allow them to pop researcher and ash the block dragon search while setting up for next turn
Good win for Unchained! They are a little bit of a dark horse. Good chances vs any deck except Tearlament. Unchined vs Swordsoul, Spright, PrankKids would be a fun one. You can say it's a die roll matchup, but really, Unchained exposed a weakness of Adamancipator that they can't really play many handtraps. Combined with the immunity to the board sweepers Rocks play, it's a tough ask. Next matchup should be an easy walk for XYZ Infernity. Gladiator is underpowered for the group they are in. They don't have the disruption to stop Infernity.
for the longest time I thought Adamancipator was the strongest deck in Yu-Gi-Oh's history [not named Ishizu Tea]r but holy crap is it wild to see that modern deck building principles and newer cards have powercrept so much. The existence of Little Knight alone invalidates most decks that existed before it was printed, and that's before we talk about all the one card starters. Sorry my rocky bois had to go out like that
The funniest part is that Unchained isn't considered a broken deck, just a strong one. So you have arguably the strongest combo deck in the history of Yugioh as of early 2020, losing to a good deck from 2023.
@@TheTrueFool that much powercreep in just 3 years is nuts to me. On one hand, wtf very concerning as someone who plays the game. On the other hand, hell yeah, Konami is gonna keep finding new ways to break this game until the sun explodes, long live Yugioh
The fact that people in the community tab mostly talked about how unchained had a meh going first board and were super strong at going second, the deck never having its board even remotely broken while also completely failing to break the board going second made me laugh out loud.
Unchained is pretty underrated! Their board is not impressive at all compared to Adamancipator, but it's also really hard to fully break because they have disrupts on the field, in hand and in grave, and can disrupt you in unusual ways.
It’s kind of a better board when you think about it. Adamancipator can’t layer their interruptions 3 different ways so they don’t lose to dark ruler. That’s the difference between modern decks and decks from a few years ago: they have interruptions in hand, gy, AND field. It might not look as intimidating, but it’s much harder to deal with. Fire decks are the same way.
Their board is fairly impressive when you consider how many things it loses to, because there is no single board breaker that will out the whole board On the other hand adamancipator for example is heavily hindered by lava golem and sphere mode if we're looking at the buster lock version, whereas the non buster lock version is extremely weak to drnm The closest thing to beating an unchained board with one card would be evenly, but rage into sp is still sort of 3 disruptions which is pretty good, although with no follow up without unchained cards in hand
@@andrejv.2834 evenly isn't even that amazing because they can still keep a disruption and you have to deal with their crazy followup. Any settable turns on the entire engine again basically
Swoso with protos and baronne would probably be better than unchained as well Had it not been for a clutch sharvara in hand in g3 ada probably takes this one despite losing the dice roll, it was very close
@@MofizIA yeah but looking at the followup, researcher into tackle crusader to chain block block dragon's searches + an early arc light means that even if they saw 2 disruptions they'd still lose since a big board could be made regardless Ofc the unchained player couldn't have known what ada's topdeck and excavations would be, so it a misplay, just not a game altering one
@@andrejv.2834 what the hell. noone is gonna let researcher go off, if they draw any of their many quick pops. especially knowing very well that there is no other hand card and the only other play is a block dragon into discardless cerberus, thats gonna be met by ash already in hand. and thats if they draw ONE interruptions.
I feel like the adamancipator list is full.of too many bricks to be really successful against those high level decks that play several hand traps and have multiple 2 card combos.
The lists were awful back then. When it was current format I was on a list with 10 non tuners 1 block no olion and no special block search targets. You had 16 flex spots, retained most of your ability to play through hand traps, since the adam tuners threatened 2 bodies instead of the random extenders that were just one body, and since you played for follow up it was the snake eyes thing where you didn't care in the slightest if your board was broken because you could rebuild. Sauryuja cl1 block cl2 cyberse integrator cl3 was a hell of a drug, and it also let you extend without running gigantic.
Can someone explalin what im missing @6:00 it seems like that should be rocks game every time to me but he just scoops instead. Link for cerb search 2 lv 2 tuners which havnt been used yet plus gigantes. And summon token off olion. (Make link spider if it is played with token) Make unicorn with cerb and token/link spider to force link 2 activation. Summon back block go BP to force link 3 activation. Summon gigantes Summon researcher Go off into a dragite bounce ed monsters and end on a couple of disrupts (Theres also other lines with link cross linking off the cerb into union carrier to attach another earth and link it off ect ect.)
Unchained should've had game 2, summon Typhon first then steal Savage with Tactics, beat over both monsters, then bounce Savage with Typhon MP2 with Ash to hopefully beat any topdeck.
Well, Borreload Savage Dragon & Linkkuriboh showed us yet again why those should be banned while Appo & S:P are ok ... oh wait 🤣 Biscuit Oliva would be proud of that result 👍
Last game there were some different plays I think could have changed the outcome. Definitely should have went bp first. After you cleared the Cesar and link monster Special the analyzer and don’t normal the guardian. The replay showed your opponent did not use the unchained link on summon so you should use analyzer eff, if you hit a body, you probably win this game. If your opponent uses the link on summon, you just normal the 2nd analyzer then use eff to field a handtrap and then special the other admancipator from hand. You know 2 of the 4 cards in hand so you play assuming it is a hand trap.
Just saying, the opponents didn’t pop the analyzer on summon on the replay. So it’s best to use analyzer eff to bait a handtrap, then if veilered, you normal guardian and special the other admancipator. Also, they drew the big guy and some people side out the other
seeing that 🪨 performed kind of balanced in CBC now, maybe we can have 60 versions or I like to call earth GS ft. grass, superheavy samurai in Challenger appears or next year CBC
